gazing up at the stars,

whispering to them like they held the answers,

as if they could bend time and grant me you.

hoping it would listen,

like a miracle in the quiet of the night.

the kind that others had,

the kind that shined in the eyes of strangers,

the couples who knew what it was

to be whole, to be real.
