when the air cuts sharp and clean,

the dreamers stir from their sleep,

and the world holds its breath.

A long, slow sunrise

spills across the hills,

yellow, green,

autumn's last whisper.

Tall oaks stretch their limbs,

branches heavy with the frost of yesteryear,

melting in the warmth of a new day.

Blue jeans,

the scent of freshly cut grass,

the sun like a silent god,

worshipped in the glow of morning light.

I sit,

wrapped in the stillness,

nestled into the quiet of a hilltop home,

eyes tracing the valley below.

The blue sky stretches,

dreamlike,

holding the horizon in its vast, tender grasp.

Morning drags its feet,

cold and rejuvenating,

as the breeze curls through the air,

flowing like a whisper,

dancing with the dogs that roam like sentinels,

sniffing at the light,

chasing shadows.

I sit in my chair,

the pavement cold beneath me,

following the sun's every move,

seeking warmth in its embrace.

Sunlit patches scatter like jewels,

caught between the dark shade,

drinking it in like salvation.
