"Hey Kat, Phone!" Steve yelled.
She jogged down the stairs and then turned into the living room.
"Who is it?" she asked.
Steve placed the receiver on the table.
"Billy."
Kat felt a wave of shock hit her. What could Billy possibly want? She reached to pick up the phone and Steve sat down in the recliner. He watched her, as she lifted the receiver to her ear, her brows coming together between her eyes.
"Hello?"
"Hi Kat," Billy said. "Listen, can I come over today?"
"Yeah...um...what?" She stumbled in her confusion, "Why do you want to come over?"
"I just wanted to talk to you."
Kat paused once more.
"Okay," she drew out the word suspiciously. "You can come over now."
"Great! I'll see you in a bit."
An hour later, Billy was standing at her front door. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, as she answered it.
"So?" she asked, not stepping out of the doorway. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
Billy smiled uneasily, burying his hands in his pockets.
"Do you think maybe you could come outside and talk to me?"
Kat nodded.
"Sure."
She stepped out onto the front porch, shutting the door behind her.
"I wanted to talk to you. To say that I'm sorry about last Monday." Billy said.
"Last Monday?" Kat said tightly. "Oh, You mean breaking up with me?" She said sarcastically.
"Yeah," Billy answered. "I made a mistake. I think I just got really overwhelmed with everything. I wasn't sure I wanted to be around all of those guys. Guys like Mark and Kevin. But when I saw you with Ron, I realized how much I missed you. I haven't been able to stop thinking about you."
Kat felt a glimmer of hope rising. Was Billy really regretting their breakup?
"I missed you too" Kat replied.
Billy took her hand. His hand was big and warm in hers.
"I really like you." Billy said.
A blush spread across Kat's cheeks.
"I really like you too." She replied softly.
"I'd really like to give this another try," Billy said. "I don't want to lose what we have, because I think we have something special. Will you go out with me again?"
"Yes." She answered with butterflies and a smile that split across her face.
Billy fixed his crystal blue eyes on her, wrapped his strong hands around the nape of her neck, tilted his head and leaned in for a kiss. He pressed his lips against hers, causing her toes to curl in pleasure. She kissed him back eagerly. She could try to resist him, but the temptation was just too great. She had no chance against him.
