Dinner ended and the group changed and gathered in the living room. Hanging out and waiting for the party.
Steve barreled down the stairs, with a shirt slung over his shoulder and buttoning his jeans. He turned at the base of the steps into the living room and slid each arm into his black t-shirt.
Steve gave Billy a quick look up and down, then motioned his finger up and down at Billy's blue Polo shirt and tan khaki pants.
"Take your shirt off. You can't dress like that at these parties or you'll be asking for trouble." Steve turned to Billy, "Scott! Go grab him one of your shirts."
Scott slowly rose from the sofa, as if completely annoyed about having to actually move off the sofa to help someone. He sauntered up the stairs, then returned with a red flannel. He threw the shirt at Billy and dropped onto the sofa.
The flannel landed across Billy's chest and partially on his shoulder. He peeled it off and laid it on the recliner. Billy pulled the Polo over his head and leaving his t-shirt on. Kat couldn't help but stare at Billy's strong body. Even with a t-shirt on, she could make out muscular chest.
Billy slid each arm into the flannel. As he lifted his head he caught her stare and shot back a smile and she turned flush. But he had looked proud of himself.
Billy slipped off his watch and spilled it into her hand.
Steve looked at it as Kat took it from Billy's hand. He knew somewhat where Billy lived, from the grilling, but Billy's clothes and watch and the Mercedes were raising questions.
There was a knock on the door. The group turned their heads to the screen door.
"Colleen!" Kat yelled, she held her face and darted to the front door. Kat opened it and threw out her arms. Colleen smiled lovingly and wrapped her arms around Kat. Kat caught one corner of Steve's mouth curve up in happiness of the two girls enjoyable reunion.
Steve's smile quickly dropped when the girls parted and Colleen looked at Steve. He stepped close to her and wrapped his strong arms around her in a quick hug. Then let her go.
It had been so long since she had seen Colleen. She and Steve dated in High School. She was perfect in every way. Sweet, nurturing, patient and super smart. Colleen was traveling back and forth to the city for college. Her and Steve reconnected.
Kat had no idea how she could fall for someone so unaffectionate, but then Steve was a great catch. Smart, hardworking, dependable. She chuckled to herself, she sounded like their vacuum cleaner.
Sean, the complete opposite of Steve, pulled Stephanie in for a hug. He grabbed her butt and pulled her close, bumping her hips into his and had a two minute kissing session. Then parted with a grin.
Kat shook her head at that as well, Sean had no boundaries, he would probably throw Steph on the floor and bang her right in the middle of the living room if Steve wasn't there. Well, probably not, but it seemed like it.
With Billy by her side the group walked the street to Kevin's house. Billy passed her a warm smile. Kat proudly held his hand and gave back a smile as wide as her face.
