The sparkling sunlight rushes through her room as the maids begin their morning duties.
"Miss Jocosa," one of the maids gently wakes the slumbering girl, "We were told to get you ready for the family breakfast in the dining hall." Just as she is about to question the orders she is politely yanked out of warm bedding.
As the young girl is undressed and given a fresh new gown to flaunt around in, an uncomfortable feeling creeps within her.
Not even given a chance to catch a short breath, they rush her down the extravagant halls to dine with her awaiting family.
As the grand doors creek open all eyes fall on her as Jocosa nervously shuffles to her assumed seat.
A awkward silence quickly covers the family, until her father decides to speak up.
"Well, daughter, how did you sleep?" He awkwardly lifts his head to face her.
"It was alright, t-thank you," Jocosa nervously gives him a reassuring smile.
"There's normally one more of us, your brother's dear fiancée. But she is out on a short trip at the moment, you will get the chance to meet her at a later date.
She again gives him a weak smile before glancing down at her full plate and sparkling silverware. The unwelcome feeling spreads, as she once again feels out of place.
But soon, one by one, her supposed loved ones flee from the dining hall. Leaving her perplexed and feeling diminutive.
As maids pour into the room to carry the finished plates away, Jocosa backs away to be out of the way. Unexpectedly, she finds herself wandering the large halls of the fancy castle. The portraits and intricate designs adorn the walls until boredom catches up with Jocosa.
Sighing in defeat, Jocosa retraces her steps to her assigned bedroom. Her footsteps fall as she sets her eyes on an office, seemingly owned by her presumed older brother.
Thinking about her future action of knocking on this door, she doubts he'll be happy getting interrupted but the bond between them must be recovered. So here she is taking the first step.
Her frail fist taps against the large door before her and a male voice follows beckoning her into the study. Twisting the knob, Jocosa enters the room while her eyes trace the rich decorations and organized shelves.
"Oh," Lorencio stumbles as his eyes find his unexpected guest, "Jocosa... I wasn't expecting you."
Her smile twitches as she plays around with her nimble fingers, "Well I've been touring the castle and I stumbled upon your office. I uh hope I'm not being a bother..." Her words trail off as her heartbeat picks up.
"Of course not!" Lorencio jumps up at her conclusion, "I just wasn't expecting you, that's all there is to it. How have you been finding the castle?"
"Very big, I lost track of where I was after passing the gallery." She pitches a falling smile as her head droops once more.
"Well as you see I've been held up with paperwork, but now that you are here sister... how would you like to accompany me outside? We can play your favorite game."
"That sounds lovely, but I most likely don't remember what game you speak of." There that feeling goes, the frustration of not being able to connect.
"No matter, I remember," he jogs to the door before laying his palm out for her to take, "Shall we?"
