"You poor thing," Lola's father mutters as he looks at the frail girl before him.
He can not help but feel a wave of pity flow through him. How unfortunate... the circumstances that have fallen onto the shoulders of the strange girl.
Lola has just finished relaying the recent circumstances to her parents as Marshel sets the tea down.
"I am alright now... thanks to Lola and Marshel," Jocosa bashfully peers down into her bulky shapen cup. She looks up and gives them a small smile. Lola smiles back, understanding her gratitude. Even Marshel who gives her a small nod.
Lola's parents are quiet for a few moments, processing the information. The blonde mother speaks slowly, taking one last sip, "So, she might be from the royal palace. Why haven't you tried to go there then?"
"Well, I don't want to trouble you any longer than I already have," Jocosa adds. The feeling of becoming a burden spreads throughout her body.
"Nonsense," the brunette male waves her off. "We'll wait a couple of days as the journey there is a bit lengthy. We will prepare and soon we will find out if that is truly your home." He insinuates as his kind smile shines down on the shy girl.
Jocosa glances up at him as gratefulness overtakes her face, eyes quivering as the tears creep up on her. "I... thank you so much, I'm so lucky to have run into you all. Thank you so much..." her mind blanks as she realizes she doesn't know the kind man's name.
"You may call me Mr. Thomas, and this here is my lovely, fighter of a wife Lillian," he gently scoots Lillian to plant a soft kiss upon her forehead. "And dear, what's your name," he tilts his head.
"Uh, Jocosa... sir," she bows as she gives her name. "Thank you, I don't know how I can repay you all," her face scrunches up as a few tears escape her.
"Don't worry dear," Lillian smiles down at her with a few pats atop her head.
Jocosa glances around at the kind family gathered around her. She wipes away the few tears on her pale face as she turns to Lola. The look the two share is enough to convey that the bond has grown between the two. Lola reaches out and takes Jocosa's hands in hers. She gives them a gentle squeeze and smiles. Jocosa returns the smile, and the two know that they will be friends for life.
No matter what memories return, Jocosa silently promises to never forget the precious girl before her.
