Scribbling his signature down on the document, Lorencio lets out a long, exhausted sigh.
Lately, he has been trying to find any excuse to keep him in his study, as a distraction of course. He fears his mind will run amuck on nonstop worrying for his sister.
Of course, that means he has been keeping his distance from Shelton. This means the engagement is still undecided with the answer becoming more blurry.
Lorencio's golden locks sway along with his stretches, but alas he is interrupted by a knock.
He keeps himself silent wishing whoever is on the other side will simply walk away, but that is not the case. The knocking resumes until Lorencio grumbles rubbing his forehead in stress before beckoning the person inside.
His eyes widen in surprise at the unexpected visit, "Princess Aalis, I didn't know we were expecting you."
The blonde shuts the door gently behind her before venturing toward him. "Nice to you see you too, Lorencio. And don't worry, it wasn't planned, I've been meaning to come ever since... My best friend disappeared. Just took a little push from my parents, but I wanted to stop here on my way to my room... I came to check on you."
She places herself gracefully in the smooth, bejeweled chair staring straightly at Lorencio.
He sighs letting his shoulders fall into a slump, he trusts her enough as his sister's closest friend and a kind person as well. So what is the harm in showing the negative, unresolved feelings brewing within him?
"It's been harder on me than I expected, I work to distract myself and avoid my fiancé and my parents. I think what pains me the most is guilt, I wonder if I paid more attention would she still be here? To add to that, letters from Prince Wood have been arriving at the castle without rest," Lorencio's sincere feelings pour over his firm walls.
Aalis giggles a bit at the end, "Robert has been sending letters to my estate, checking to see if Jocosa has been found. It's sort of sweet, but annoying quite at the same time."
"I agree, but I have to remember that he did tell me that he was planning to ask for her hand in marriage," Lorencio lets out a quiet sigh, "But then she went missing."
Aalis gasps at the unknown surprise, "Ah he was? That is so sweet of him, I knew he was the perfect match for her," She calms down a bit grasping at Lorencio's worked-up hands, "I want to let you know that none of this was something you could've stopped. That guilt in your heart? It's unnecessary, so get rid of it. But I bare the same feelings in my heart so I understand your pain. I just wish there was something we could do to find her. How I miss her dearly."
Lorencio bites his lip nervously, he hasn't told anyone of his plan to avoid the words of discouragement.
But perhaps she shares his desperation.
"Listen, I plan later to head into one of the markets and place posters around towns to announce a reward for information or for her return. I know it sounds hasty, but I plan for either tomorrow or sooner. I plan to carry it out with or without your help, I just wanted you to know in case you wanted to join me."
The silence sat along with the two of them as Lorencio waits for the harsh judgment that he had gotten from his parents. However, her reaction remains different.
"Lorencio... What a marvelous idea! I support you fully whatever you need, I am here. In fact, please allow me to ride out with you."
"I'd love for you to come along," he stands from his chair prompting her to do the same, "Thank you for your support and kind words." She curtsies and approaches for a small hug.
"It was no problem at all, in fact... Let me know whenever you need to speak freely," she rubs his arm in comfort before retreating to the door.
"I will be sure to remember that... I will call for you when I'm ready to head out. But for now, have a good day Princess Aalis."
"You as well Prince Lorencio," She pulls on her dress for a proper bow before shutting the door behind her.213Please respect copyright.PENANAmm1BefFAsS
