The man wastes no time engulfing the confuddled girl in a longing embrace.
Jocosa jumps as the feeling of awkwardness quickly crawls through her skin. The tightness of the sudden embrace catches her off guard. She tries to remain still, but her body is shaking. She has to remind herself to breathe. She slowly relaxes and the embrace becomes familiar.
"Where have you been... all this time!?" He shakily runs his hands along her weak arms. All this time away from her home... from him. Here she is, residing in the forest. He is filled with a thousand questions, wondering if her abduction had been orchestrated by someone.
"I'm sorry who are you? The prince am I right? You seem quite familiar, I couldn't figure out how though. Do you know me somehow sir?"
His face betrays him as his eyebrows twist in confusion. What is she on about? "Familiar? Why wouldn't I be, I'm your brother of course. Why are you acting so strange Jocosa?" His heart continues to sink as she doesn't reassure him it's a joke. "Do you not know who I am? Not as the prince, but as your blood?"
"Have you really forgotten me?" He asks, his voice softening with a hint of desperation.
"I... can't remember," she mumbles afraid that she has already disappointed someone who may be from her past. Not just a passerby, but perhaps her sibling.
Thomas cautiously steps to tap the distressed man's side so as not to put the guards on alert. "It's best you come in and take a seat. She has forgotten many things about her past."
The bewildered look on stretches further as Lorencio sees his sister rush from his side to the girl. As if he is a stranger or a madman. He feels so out of place as the girl clutches onto Jocosa protectively as if to shield her from himself.
He realizes he has no choice but to listen to the man for an explanation of why his sister cannot recognize his face. He releases a short, stressed sigh as he orders his men to keep watch outside. Thomas bows welcoming him into his home as Lorencio takes one last glance at Jocosa.
How could this have happened? Right under his nose at that.
Too much work for him to pay his own sister a morsel of attention. No way.
He would make sure she never felt cast aside as he spent most of his hours in his office. None of that matters at this moment as he continuously blames himself dejectedly walking into the cabin.
