A possible end
The professor enters the room and looks at the students. The class slowly becomes silent as an assistant of the professor comes with a bearded man in a wheel chair. The professor clears his throat to start his speech:
" Today's class will be special. We are going to study an interesting patient. His name is Gautham Gnanavel. He suffers from a rare mental disease. At first, we thought that he suffered from Schizophrenia or schizophreniform disorder. However, after examining him and observing his behaviour, we understood that his sickness was much more complex. We spent hours interacting with him while he would talk or start to indulge in very queer actions. We concluded that he is no longer conscious of the reality but he is in an imaginary world which he considers as the real world. By going further, we noticed some patterns in his behaviour and his mumblings. A few names were repeated like: Ranveer or Swapna. He is mostly unconscious but sometimes, he behaves in very different ways. He usually talks to me thinking that I am Ranveer or Prakash. One day, a nurse came with me in order to check how he was doing. He called her Swapna and gave me stern looks as if he wanted me to leave.
We tried to know more about the origins of his condition. We could not get a lot of information. He does not have any relation. We could only gather some data thanks to his friends. He was attempting to become a film director. He loved to write scripts and would spend hours and even days in his room, crafting plots and writing stories that he wanted to turn as movies or publish as novels. His friends described him as a very shy and discreet person. He would rarely share his feelings with them. We do not know the exact reasons which led him to this condition. However, an event must have mentally disturbed him. Spending too much time in isolation might have worsened his condition. My assistants have gone through his scripts. Most of his works are quite impressive and entertaining. However, one of the stories entitled "Misleading emotions" has no end. The names Ranveer and Swapna are important characters in his last story. His friends told they knew no one with these names.
After a few discussions with other psychologists and more interactions with the patient, we think that he is suffering from the fantasy prone personality disorder also referred as the FPPD . It seems that he is mentally trapped in his last story, in a loop. That is to say that he is currently considering himself as the main protagonist of his story and stuck in it. In his mind, the story never ends as it starts again in a loop. One of the students analysed the videos we got by recording him for a few weeks. She was able to find links between his behaviour and the dialogues he wrote for the main character of his script. However, we noticed that he often creates a new end for his story.
His story has a simple plot. It is a person who is in his best friend's marriage and who feels sad. Then, we get to know about his childhood and how he fell in love with a lady. He creates different ends for the story. From the first week's recording, his mumblings revealed that his best friend got married with the lady he loved. In another recording, we inferred that he was able to convince the lady to marry him. In the last recording we collected, we concluded that she is getting married to a guy named as Prakash. Anyway, it seems that he is trying to find the best end for his story. Even in this mental state, he still holds on to his passion. So far, the treatments we attempted in order to cure him are doomed to failure. Maybe one day, when he will be able to find the perfect end for his script, he will be able to come back from his imaginary world..."
