It was the start of a new day and I felt different. Was that a good thing or a bad thing? I blinked numerous times and a little bit more when I noticed my sight was exceedingly sharper. Has it always been like this? I rubbed my eyes, thinking it must've been that I have just woken up. I blinked a few more times, but everything was still sharp. What the hell?

Remembering that I needed to see the guys today, I got out my bed and went into the shower, since I don't remember when my last one was; probably before the fire. As I stepped under the water, I closed my eyes and just felt the nice calming water, dripping down my face. I don't remember the last time I had a relaxing shower like this.

After a few minutes and I got out, wrapped a towel around my body and hair then looked at my wardrobe to what to see what to wear. I just took out some dark jeans and a grey t-shirt; plain and simple. Quickly placing the clothes and underwear on my body, I grabbed a comb and brushed through my wet hair. I looked closely at my long brunette hair and realized that I could see every stand, as clear as day. I should've stayed another night, I thought, thinking that I haven't fully recovered and over thinking things. Maybe I have hit my head when I fell too hard, before I fell into nothingness. I shook my head and concentrated on getting ready.

Finally finished, planting my white converse on, I grabbed my coat and scarf, putting them on and lead myself downstairs into the cafe.

None of the guys were in sight. I looked at the clock beside the window, to see it was only 9:55am, so I may have been early, for Saturday morning, as some people like sleep in and maybe the boys liked to have their sleep in. So instead I thought I'd go for walk outside the College for a change, to clear my head. 

I started to walk on the stony road, away from the College and observing that there was hardly anybody out and about. Was it always like that at weekends?

I remember last weekend I slept in before meeting everyone so I don't know for sure. Maybe also the cold was a giveaway to stay away from it. I like the cold weather, it makes me look forward to the hot chocolate and sit beside a warm cosy fire.

I was so busy in my own world that I just caught the running footsteps behind me, which were coming towards me. I turned around quickly, realising that it was Jack running. Only, he was a few metres away...how could I hear and sense someone from that far?

I stopped where I was and waited for Jack, only to see he was more speedy than usual. It was almost as if someone gave him a slight dose of a superpower to run. I lowered my eyebrows together in confusion.

Once he caught up to me, he smiled and said "Hey."

My right lip moved up, to a slight curve and I said, "Hey" back to him, only to see that his eyes have slightly changed colour. They had a hint of gold in them. Was the gold always there?

"How are you?" He asked, with a worry facial expression across his face, "I heard from Shannon that you've just woken up last night."

I sighed and closed my eyes. Of course she would tell him that, "Yeah I'm okay and that's true. The nurse said I could stay another night but I wanted to get into my own bed. I miss it, you know. Plus I needed a shower," I laughed.

Jack had a slight giggle, but you could tell he eyes were full of strain.

"Lucy, we were wondering if you would like to join us this morning for breakfast."

I stood there, hesitantly, unsure what to do. Part of me wants to go and see what was up, whereas the other side of me just wanted to be alone now. But remembering my conversation with Shannon, I nodded at Jack and agreed with him.

"Yeah, ok," I said. 

I paced along beside Jack, noting that we were heading in the direction of the college, to see the rest of the guys.

"So, how are you?" Jack asked me.

I could tell that with this awkward silence between us, he wanted to talk and avoid any quietness.

"I'm alright, thank you. I feel better though, now I've had some fresh air mind, yourself?"

Jack heavily sighed and just looked straight ahead, with his head down slightly. It felt like forever until he responded back to me, like he was trying to avoid something. I didn't press on and waited until he wanted to say whatever he needed to say.

We were already inside the college until he answered me back, "I feel better than ever to be honest. I feel more alive and energetic, for some reason...anyway let's see Damon and Max in the cafe. We're almost there."

It was true; we were nearly there. While we were heading to the café, I observed only about five students were up and about, having breakfast. I looked at the time and it was only 10:13am. I honestly thought there would have been more people, students, out of bed.

Turning to our right, I detected two figures that were sat at a table in the far end of the café, was Damon and Max. Just watching at them, I identified they were talking in extremely low whispers. From just a distance away from them, they turned round and noticed both Jack and I were wandering ahead, towards them. I smiled at them both, to which they just grinned to some extent back to me, but I could tell they were deeply distressed and concerned over something. I felt my eyebrows frown.

"Morning Lucy; glad to see you up and well," assumed Damon, who looked like he hasn't sleep properly in a while.

Damon and Max both had their arms crossed over the table and seemed to be on high alert of their surroundings.

"Thanks Damon, you too, well to both," I beamed, but it felt as if it didn't match my eyes. It felt forced.

Jack and myself sat down; me beside Max while Jack sat next to Damon.

"By the way Lucy, just a quick warning; the police would like to ask you some questions about the whole situation, from what happened the other night. They are trying to get to the bottom of this. They are also trying to find out how it all happened and who the individual behind it all. They are asking everyone who was at the scene about the whole situation, including and tutors that were about at the time."

Of course the police would want to ask questions about the fire episode and I just wanted to have a rest and time to myself before everyone bombards me questions about what happened that night.

I sighed deeply at that thought and rubbed my eyes, realising that this was going to stress me out; everyone including the tutors, would want to know if you're ok and would be lurking behind your back to make sure you're in one piece.

"Have they already spoken to you three?" I quizzed, just to be cautious of what questions they may ask me. 

Damon was the one who answered first and he looked around us before answering to make sure that nobody was around us, listening, "Yes they asked us the day after we all woke, obviously one by one, just so we can prepare ourselves on the awkward questions we were being asked. I hate questions," Damon muttered the last part to himself. 

"Don't we all," mumbled Jack. 

Damon continued, "So they will ask you the same questions as us and hopefully they are the same answers as us."

"What sort of questions did they ask?"

"Ones like; how are you, what exactly happened in detail, how much do you remember."

"And what did you tell them?"

"I'm fine, there was fire and glass everywhere and we all told the same story up to the point of," Damon stopped and paused before looking straight into my eyes and gulped, "the hairy man beast."

My eyes widen as I started to remember the horrific events that occurred with the hairy monster.

"Why?" I asked to quickly, thinking why I couldn't I tell the truth to the police. I thought you weren't supposed to lie to them.

"You want to tell them that you saw something you cannot explain? Like the hairy beast man, with fangs and glowing eyes? Yeah, 'cause they will definitely believe you. They will think you have a bump on your head and you'll have to check out at the hospital, to make sure your brain is ok and not going loopy."

Damon did have a point. We couldn't go and tell them exactly what we saw. We would probably have to see a special person and make sure were ok and not delusional about what we saw.

"You're right I suppose," I understood.

"Right, I'm just going straight to the point. Before you two came over, Damon and I were just talking about what we saw during the fire," clarified Max, who locked into each of our eyes before continuing on without blinking, "because from what we've witnessed; that wasn't human. It was something vicious and angry. And it bit everyone single one of us," he hesitated at the last part. 

I was taken aback all of a sudden, because I was not expecting this conversation to become so soon. I thought it was going to be a more friendly matter before talking about the rapid nightmarish world that occurred a few days ago. I thought it would have been the police I would have only had to deal with.

My face drained as I just realised what they were discussion; the Monster, that Thing. What was it? And it even bit us; all of us.

I wanted to overcome that and get back onto my own two feet properly; otherwise I don't think I can move on just yet. But then again I would not want the others to know about this and just wanted to be strong for everyone, including myself.

"How did you know it bit all of us? You were passed out Damon, before it got too all of us," I quizzed as I narrowed my eyes at all three of the boys, knowing well that everyone was out into oblivion before the drama happened to me.

Jack answered before anyone else got there first, "I told him what happened while you were unconscious in hospital, Lucy. I told him every detail, of what occurred that night and what happened after they passed out."

My face drained as I just realised what they were discussion; the Monster, that Thing. What was it? And it even bit us; all of us.

"Oh," I felt my eyes widen, "but how did you know I got bitten? All of you were out cold when it happened."

Jack fidgeted on his chair before telling the truth. He looked as if he felt uncomfortable about something and placed a hand over his right ear. Was his ear hurting him? Or was it something else?

Then something happened. I could hear voices behind me. I could hear the conversations the students were having with each other. I could hear them all so clearly. I turned around, to see who they were, since they must've close to us. Oh how wrong I was. They were at the other side of the cafeteria. My eyes widen with a sudden awareness of what was just happening. That can't be possible. I shouldn't be able to hear everyone that far away. 

I turned back around to see Jack, only realising he was staring right back at me, with curiosity across his face and his right hand slightly away from his ear. Was this too happening to him? I shook away that thought and just viewed at Max. 

"Anyway Lucy; how you are feeling?"

"I'm feeling fine; better than I was in hospital," I smiled, "How are you both by the way? I heard that you two woke up before me."

Damon and Max both hesitated before answering, which kind of annoyed me, as I felt something wrong with the atmosphere. Why was this? They both, including Jack, were fidgeting to some extent on their chairs. I sighed. 

It was Max that answered first, "Were both feeling ok, better than ever to be honest...but we really want to talk to you about something and were serious about this; since you woke up, have you felt different or odd, as if something happened but you can't explain it?"

I felt my brows frown in confusion and I was taken aback, "excuse me? What do you mean?" I blinked several times, in misunderstanding. What the fudge were they on about?

"Max meant since you've woken up, have you felt anything different about yourself? Anything inhuman?" Damon informed me, looking at me with wariness.

I formed an 'o' shape with my mouth. I looked down and stared down, hard onto the table thinking of anything odd that has happened recently, but I shook my head in disagreement and sighed.

"No I've got nothing. Why?" I wondered, looking back up to them, with curiosity across my face.

All three looked shocked and looked at me, as if I had two heads, "what? Why are you all looking at me like that?"

I started to feel uncomfortable, when Jack explained, "So you haven't noticed anything with your hearing or eyesight? Just wondering that's all..." Jack said very quickly, which made me more wary of what this conversation was going to be. 

Why were they asking me vastly bizarre questions all of a sudden?

It was my turn to look at Jack as if he had two heads, but then I realized what he said. My face fell and showed awareness across my face. I felt the colour drain out of my face and my eyes widen. How did they know? Were they experiencing the same thing?

I stayed quiet for a few seconds, not knowing what I was supposed to say.

"Lucy?" Damon asked placing his hand across my back for comfort, "Are you ok?"

I looked away, "yeah," I whispered, hoping they didn't hear me. I don't think I heard myself almost.

"Yes to ok or yes to you've noticed something?"

I stared hard back to Damon, and replied, "Noticed something...but it's crazy, no one will believe me."

How did he hear me that low?

I looked back down to the table, ashamed to what I just said. They must think I'm going nuts, I speculated.

"Lucy. We'll believe you...cause we're wanting to tell you some things that no one will believe us. And I'm going to start with my eyesight," Jack suggested.

"You're eyesight?" I looked up very quickly, "What happened to your eyesight like? Did it get injured during the fire?

Jack snorted, as if I just said a bad joke, "I wish I could say it was from the fire. No. What I am trying to say is," Jack bends down to grab his bag from underneath the table, just to get his glasses from his bag. He tried them on and blinked several times and squinted a few, until he told me, "everything is blurry when I try to look through these, but everything is perfect," he explains while he took his glasses off, "when I take them off. It's as if I can see everything so perfect and clear. I can see everything in detail. And as crazy as it sounds, I think it was from the bite."

And this time, it was my turn to snort and shook at my head in disagreement.

"You believe that was from the bite? You think your eyesight became HD all of a sudden, due to the bite? That's a load of nonsense. That's not possible, unless you just had eye laser treatment."

"You don't believe me? Then what about your eyesight? Is everything clear to you?"

That shut me up. I stared hard at Jack, just to make sure he wasn't saying it has a joke. His was hard and blank. He was being serious. I looked behind him, and noticed a sign in a faraway distance. I looked at it. I couldn't see it properly before, because of the distance range, but the more I looked at the sign, the more realised I could see the sign properly above the 'exit' doors. 

'Caution: Keep door clear at all times. Emergency Only'

Such simple words and I couldn't read them from this distance. Was this possible that I could read faraway distance?

"What about your hearing? Can you hear those two girls near the all you can eat breakfast?"

I turned around once more and took more notice of the two girls I heard muttering before.

I observed the two brunettes once more, but this time, I listened more carefully to their wittering. 

"Yeah but seriously though? There's police all over the place. They are trying to find the culprit behind the accident. And did you hear that the new girl woke up last week. How awful is that; just moved here about a week ago and now she was in an accident. That's some luck."

"I know, it's so awful and tragic that had to happen to her. But it was stupid of her to go back into the building, so technically, it was her fault she got herself and everyone injured."

"I know. But still, she saved Damon. Did you hear the paramedics? Apparently, if she didn't go in there and rescue him, he wouldn't be alive because his room was one of the first to get burnt down. Anyway, how are you and Theo?"

I felt my cheeks burning, that two girls were discussing me but also that fact that I can hear at such distance.

No...no, that's not possible! No one can hear at such...range! What the hell.

I slowly turned around, realising I was shaking with terror and awareness. I shook my head violently. I won't believe it.

I was breathing fast. The room was moving quickly. I noticed the smell of chewy from somebody's pocket that just walked by. I got up and I knew what to do.

"I'm off to the library. I need information."
