"We should leave soon. The party is going to start without us." I touch up the last of my makeup, waiting patiently on my husband.
"I am aware, I'm taking my time getting ready." He yells to me from the other room. I roll my eyes.
"Just because you don't want to go, doesn't mean you have to make me late." I hear him mumbling under his breath. "I'm sorry, what was that?"
"Nothing, I'm ready, let's go." He huffs, grabbing his coat on the way out of the house. I don't understand what his problem is with coming to this party. He's such an annoyance at times. Usually, I would not force him to tag along, however, going alone to this gathering would be embarrassing.
"Mrs. Davis before you leave, how late are the children to stay up tonight?" I hear my butler call out to me from behind.
"Well it is a Friday night, so let them stay up as late as their hearts desire."
"Let's go!" I hear my husband shout from downstairs. I jump, grabbing my purse and coat as I hurriedly make my way to the car.
"What? Now you're rushing me? How gentleman of you." He rolls his eyes. "You know, you could at least put on a fake smile and not be so obscene. It's what I do when you drag me along on your business events." I tease, but still no response. If I was anyone else I would have gotten out of the car and taken my own.
