We had to walk because he apparently didn’t bring his car.
While we were making our way to my home, the clouds opened like a tragedy was about to occur, and ice rain came down upon me. It was cold rain—the type of rain that occurred between rain and snow—and by the time I made it to my driveway, I was shivering like a live wire.
The cold stuck to my skin, my clothes all drenched and hanging off me like saggy waffles.
Jase had originally offered me his jacket, but I denied all times he asked me.
After a while, he gave up.
When I stepped up to my front porch, I was full out rattling.
Jase’s eyes were dark, sympathetic, almost. “Why don’t you ever take care of yourself?”
“I—don’t—have—t—to—answer—y—you.” I pulled out my keys, trying to pry them in the lock, but my hand was rattling and scraping the doorknob.
Jase move swiftly, but quietly, snatching the keys from my hand.
“H—hey!” I yelled then.
He just pried them into the lock and shoved open the door for me, looking down at me moments later with a slight smile.
I just stepped in the house, about to close the door.
But he came in with me.
“What—are—you—?”
He just kicked the door closed and caught my hand, making me yelp when he dragged me forward. “Come on.”
I fought him, trying to pull out of his grip, but he just pulled me up the stairs and to the upstairs bathroom.
What was he—?
All the sudden, he shoved me into the bathroom, and I stumbled, catching myself on the counter.
Seconds later, he had the shower turned on high heat, and he looked back at me.
I just watched him nervously.
“You are going to take a shower. Right now,” he told me. “I will leave the room, but you are going to get in and warm up. You’re ice cold.”
I just shook my head, stumbling backward. “I don’t have to listen to y—you.”
His eyes glowed dangerously, and he just smiled sarcastically, sighing. “You are a hard one, aren’t you?”
I watched him nervously.
He just gazed up and caught my arm.
I cried out when he shoved me against him, and he dragged me toward the shower.
I screamed, fighting him, but he just pulled me under the water despite us both being completely clothed.
One the hot water tapped onto my ice-cold skin, I froze.
Oh.
Oh…
This feels beautiful.
I didn’t realize how cold I really was.
Jase just kept holding onto me, preventing me from running and keeping me under the water.
I closed my eyes, head falling to his chest.
He just pulled my beanie off my head, letting my hair tumble down to my back as he tossed the beanie across the room.
When the warm water melted onto my scalp, I sank into him further.
All reasoning vanished… all the fear spreading through me, the darkness crawling through my skin, and the cold that burrowed inside me.
I forgot that Twilight killed a girl. My memories that I was being hunted vanished into nothing. And all thoughts of Jase being harmful became absent.
I was so warm… I loved this.
Slowly and carefully, Jase unzipped my jacket and pulled it off, tossing it aside, as well.
And the warm water hit my arms, melting my bones.
He then set his hand on my back, keeping me stable in case I fell.
I felt his eyes on me, but I didn’t care.
I was too comfy to care.
After about a minute or so, he slowly released me.
“I’ll go get you fresh clothes,” he told me then, sounding amused. “Take your time.”
And he let go, stepping out of the shower and catching a towel off the rack.
After tossing it over himself, he stepped out from the room.
I set my back against the wall and sank down, tipping up and letting the hot water pad onto my face.
I didn’t know how long I’d been there for, but after a while of blissful calmness, Jase came back in the room.
He just stepped over to me and lightly tapped my cheek.
I gazed over at him, enjoying myself too much right now.
He held out his hand.
I took it—currently not thinking straight—and he helped me out from the shower.
His eyes glowed their familiar amusement as he handed me a towel and gestured to the clothes on the counter of the bathroom.
He just smiled, going back to turn off the shower before glancing back at me. “Be quick. I’ll be waiting outside.”
When he left the room, I pulled off my soaked clothes and dried off myself, immediately pulling on a pair of pajama pants he clearly found in my sock drawer and a large T-shirt.
I then stepped out from the room.
Jase stood from the wall and gazed down at me. “An hour nap. You promised me.”
I just lowered my lashes, still stuck in bliss as I waddled over to my bedroom and collapsed onto my bed.
After getting under the covers, I closed my eyes, starting to drift almost immediately.
I didn’t know what was happening, I didn’t know where Jase was or if he was plotting something… I just wanted to sleep.
Distantly, I felt him come into my room and pull the covers fully over me.
