“Sarah, I was just kidding!!” I said, my hands shaking.
She turned around to face me with an adorable and innocent look on her face, “I know that, dearie.” Her expression quickly changed from adorable and innocent to one the wickedest grins I’ve ever seen, “But I’m not~.”
Tim and Brian (OMG I forgot he was there!) gave me an ‘oh shit’ face. Tim was about to throw a small box at my face before Brian grabbed him and pulled him out of the room. Sarah and I both stared at them with major ‘WTF’ looks on our faces.
“That happened…. But you gotta--” I was interrupted by a loud noise upstairs. It sounded like it was from Sarah’s room. Sarah paled.
“I… Uh… GOTTA BLAST!!!” She bolted from the room and up the stairs. I followed close behind. Soon, we were at her door.
“I swear to God if you’re cheating!!!” I growl at her.
She whirled around and hissed back, “Why the fuck would I cheat?? You’re seriously the only guy for me. But you know what? You need more faith in me, Toby.” She looked down at her feet, her right hand clenched in a fist over her heart, “But if you don’t have enough reason to trust me…. Then maybe we’re not meant to be…”
I stared at Sarah in shock, “U-Uh… What? No! I have faith in you! Just tell me what’s in your room!” She grinned at me. I stared at her. Why was she grinning at a time like this??
Her grin melted back into an innocent smile, “I’m just kitten you right meow, Tobias. You act like it’s a major cat-astrophy.” I blinked at her, before grinning.
“Did you find a cat?” I asked.
She stayed silent and made a fish face. “Maaaaaaybe... two…”
I sighed, keeping my grin. “Show me the cats…”
Sarah awkwardly let me in her room. Shadow lay on Sarah’s bed asleep. On his back lay two small kittens, both of which being black cats. They opened their eyes. One had greenish eyes and the other had golden-yellow eyes, kind of like Izzy’s.
“The one with greenish eyes is a boy. His name is Binx. The one with eyes like Izzy’s is a girl and her name is Blake. I found them yesterday in the woods next to their mother. She was torn up and very much dead; she more than likely was killed by one of the newer Rakes or Seed Eaters.” She explained. Binx and Blake slid off of Shadow and made their way towards us.
Binx jumped at me, landing in my arms perfectly. He mewled at me and booped my nose with one of his paws. Sarah giggled at this, before picking up a, rather shy, Blake, who clung to her tightly.
“So how is Slenderp letting you keep both Shadow and the kittens?” I asked.
“He isn’t,” She said quietly. She cleared her throat, “I-I mean, he’ll let me keep them. After all, he knows I’m responsible… P-Plus… I have you… that is, if you want to help me with them…. I mean, it’s practice for when--if--we ever have kids.” Sarah said quickly.
I smiled at her. “I’ll gladly help. They’re my kittens, too. I will be the best kitty dad ever!”
Sarah smiled at me, “S-So, are things c-cool now? B-Between us, I mean…” She said, while stuttering a lot. What was going on in her head? Of course things are okay between us!
“Of course things are!” I reassured her. That’s when I realized she was crying. “Sarah…? Are you crying?”
With one arm, she held Blake, and with her free hand, she wiped her tears away. “Oh? I guess I am…” She laughed it off, acting like she didn’t notice. Just like always. I set Binx down on the ground and took Blake from Sarah’s arms, set her carefully on Shadow’s fluffy dog bed, and embraced Sarah in a tight hug.
She didn’t hug back. I held onto her, not really caring if she was going to hug back. A few minutes later, she, awkwardly, hugged back.
We stayed like this for a few moments before Binx and Blake crawled back onto Shadow’s back. The oldish dog was awake, but he didn’t seem to mind the small kittens curling up on his back. What a cute softie.
Sarah stayed in my arms. Was she trembling? I thought, Maybe she’s thinking of bad memories…. I reasoned. Maybe I’ll go talk to Izzy about this, I mean, she and Sarah are really close.
Soon, we departed. She sniffed, “Well, I’m going to take care of the cats and Shadow….”
“Alright,” I replied, “I’m going to check in with Tim.” I lied.
“Okay,” She said, before laying on the floor and letting Blake and Binx curl up on her stomach.
I left her room and made my way over to Izzy and Jeff’s room. I knocked three times exactly before Izzy opened the door.
“What?” She asked.
“I need to ask you something,” I said, “It’s about Sarah.”
She stayed silent for a moment or two, “What about her?”
“You two are really close, right?”
“Closer than you’d ever believe,” She replied, “We go way back. Farther than anyone else knew about.” She peered at me, “Why do you ask?”
“Do you know anything about her past relationships? Before Herobrine, I mean?” I asked.
Izzy tensed. “She only dated one person before Herobrine, and he practically shattered her,” She said. Her tone had gone dark.
“Who?” I asked.
Izzy glared at me, “Austin. Zalgo’s son and heir. John and Nikki’s brother.”
I felt a bit sick. “What did he do to her?”
“Things I can’t even begin to say,” Izzy said. She looked down at her boots, “I can say this, though. She, Sally, and Clocky have one thing in common… Do you know what that is?”
I think for a little bit. Sally was beaten and used by her uncle and Clocky was beaten by her father as well…. Was she beaten by Austin?
“Was she beaten?”
“No,” Izzy said blankly. “You know what? I’ll just show you once she falls asleep. I’ll travel with you into her mind. It won’t be that hard.”
“Really?” I asked. “Thank you, Izzy!”
Izzy smiled sadly, and turned back to her room as she slowly shut the door. “You won’t be thanking me later…” She muttered under her breath.
I stared after her. What did she mean? I sighed as I made my way to Tim’s room. I wasn’t exactly lying when I told Sarah I needed to check in with Tim… Hopefully, I am not too late. For some strange reason, I wasn’t. Hallelujah.
