~~~Izzy’s POV~~~
I felt a little guilty helping Toby see into Sarah’s mind, but he wants to know her better… God who am I kidding? I’m going against all my morals right now.
Currently, Toby and I stood above Sarah, who was sleeping silently. I took a deep breath and turned to face Toby.
“Lay beside her,” I whispered.
He raised an eyebrow at me, but obeyed without speaking.
“Close your eyes.”
He closed them. I like it when people don’t question me. Maybe it’s because they know that I know what I’m doing.
“Good. Relax,” I said, “It just makes this a whole lot easier…” I placed the palms of my hands on both of their foreheads. My breathing got a little heavier as I set the link between their minds. My eyes began to glow a golden hue. I saw in the mirror that Sarah hung above her dresser that my eyes had turned completely golden; even the whites of my eyes.
I felt all of my energy begin to fade quickly. I quickly pulled away and stumbled out of her room. I shut the door behind me as I slowly crumbled to the ground. I felt myself get pulled into her mind. I heard footsteps approach me and a concerned voice call out to me.
“Izzy! Stay awake!” was all that I was able to hear before blacking out.
I felt a warm, almost liquid-like, embrace surround me. My eyes opened as I found myself in a strange place. The memory hall…? Or something like that. Slendy had warned me--er, mentioned to me--about this place multiple times. I looked around to see Toby lying on the ground.
I got up and rubbed my head. “This wasn’t supposed to happen…” I growled.
Toby leaned backwards into a sitting position before getting up. “What wasn’t supposed to happen?”
“I wasn’t supposed to enter her mind with you, baka!” I snapped. “Actually, I wasn’t supposed to enter her mind at all!!”
Toby looked at me, “Then why did you?”
I clenched my fists, “You bloody idi--” I stopped myself. I puffed my cheeks. “You know what? This is what I get for going against my morals and helping you!”
“W-What?!?! I thought you d-d-did this all the time!!” Toby stuttered.
I seethed, “I don’t have a choice when I go into people’s minds!” I sighed. “I thought this would teach you a lesson…”
Toby’s eyes widened, “Why??”
“Because, what you long to know cannot be told by words. I can only show you and tell you not to say I didn’t warn you.” I explained. “Do you understand?”
Toby just stared at me, “I’m afraid I can’t say that I do, Izzy.”
I stared at him, before cracking a grin, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” I paused for a moment before continuing, “Also, have you and Sarah interacted in ways I don’t want to see?”
Toby looked confused before blushing like mad, “Uh… I don’t think so…?”594Please respect copyright.PENANAsvxE7DugSn
I sighed, “That’s not very reassuring, Toby.”
He shrugged, “I am sorry…?”
I rolled my eyes, before grabbing his hand, “Whatever.. Let’s just go.”
I opened the first door I saw a baby version of Sarah being held in Slender’s arms. A baby version of Rogue was being held in Dollhouse’s arms. I barely recognised Dollhouse without her mask. Everything seemed a bit faded, it was as if Sarah didn’t even know this happened.
The scene melted away to Dollhouse teaching Rogue how to walk and Slender reading a book to Sarah. We then noticed three figures approach them. I recognized Mr. CreepyPasta, the head of the Narrators along with his righthand man, CreepsMcPasta, and Madame Macabre.
Slender placed Sarah down beside Rogue and Dollhouse before going off to converse with the three Narrators. Now seeing them side by side, I realized how identical they were when they were younger; the only thing you could use to tell them apart was their eye color, and the slight variation of their hair color.
After what seemed to be a few minutes, Slender and the Narrators came back into the room. Creeps kneeled by the twins and waved at them before getting up and talking to Dollhouse.
Everything soon went dark before bursting into harsh light. SCP agents burst through the place. The three Narrators attempted to keep the agents back while Slender and Dollhouse escaped with Sarah and Rogue. The whole scene blurred before reforming into a sleeping Sarah being carried away by an unknown figure. Slender and Dollhouse were in the background looking grief-stricken as Rogue stared after her sister.
I felt my heart sink a bit. So she was taken away from them? How tragic. I felt Toby tense beside me.
I patted his shoulder as the scene melted into Sarah being carried into her new home. A young girl, about seven, with long, auburn hair and turquoise eyes was grinning at Sarah.
“She’s so cuuuuute! Are we keeping her??” She asked.
An older woman, who resembled the young girl, smiled as she brushed a couple of strands of Sarah’s dark, slightly reddish, brown locks away from her face. “Yes, Allison. We are definitely keeping her.” She giggled.
“Yay!” Allison cheered.
Everything seemed happy as it melted into a familiar scene. Sarah exited a tent to bring Shadow, being a puppy at the time, into said tent as Zalgo appeared and led both Sarah and Shadow into the woods. He tried to convince Sarah to jump into the void, which turned out to be a portal, in order to be “free”.
Slender appeared and stopped this. The scene blurred as Zalgo disappeared.
“Oh.. So that’s what she means when she told me she had some bad experiences in her life!” Toby said.
I rolled my eyes. “I’m sure that’s not all she meant, Toby…”
Toby raised an eyebrow at me, “What do you mean, Izzy?”
I sighed irritably, “You’ll see, you’ll see…”
He shrugged, “Okay…?”
Memories after memories faded by until the memory that shattered my dear friend came up. I cringed at the darkness and Sarah’s confused and horrified face. I covered my ears and cowered on the ground. Toby was very confused until he saw what Austin had done to her. I peeked through my fingers and saw Toby staring at them, horror written on his face. I noticed tears were slipping from his eyes.
“N-No…” He whispered before crumbling down to his knees and shaking violently. “NO NO NO!! Why did you show me this!?!”
I stared at him before slapping harshly. He stared at me, more tears spilling from his eyes, “You fucking idiot. I WARNED YOU!” I snapped. “I WENT AGAINST ALL OF MY MORALS TO SHOW YOU THIS! TO SHOW YOU WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH!” I took a couple deep breaths, “You made me do this, Toby. You wanted to know so fucking badly… And now look at what happened?” I paused again, attempting to regain my cool. “And now--”
I was interrupted by our surroundings changing once again. This time, we were in a dream. Sarah was sitting in the middle of a field of black roses. She was wearing a black dress and purple converse. Her face was emotionless.
She looked up to see a male approaching her. He had brown hair that, strangely enough, looked like Toby’s. His skin was rather pale. His eyes were slightly hazy; to be completely honest, he looked like he had no eyes at all. He offered a hand to her. Sarah stared at it, before accepting it and standing up.
Wind swirled around them. They conversed and, pretty soon, were both walking around laughing.
The boy, who I was beginning to suspect to be Toby, turned to face Sarah with a saddened look on his face, “I wish you were real. Life would be much more bearable with you around…”
Sarah stared at him, “I-I am real! A-Are you real….?
“Of course I am…” He responded.
Toby, the real one, was staring at the mystery boy in shock, “W-We had the s-same dream…”
Dream-Toby grabbed Sarah’s wrist as she began to blur away. “N-No!! I’ll find you, I swear!”
“I know you will. We will find each other!” Sarah shouted over to rushing window.
I noticed that the real Toby was mouthing Dream-Toby’s lines.
“H-Hold on!”
“I can’t!”
Sarah burst into black, red, and purple rose petals. Dream-Toby stared at where Sarah had just been before his black turtleneck was suddenly drenched in blood.
He sighed as he disappeared, “So much more bearable….”
Real Toby stared at his converse. A smile was slowly creeping on his face, “So we are meant to be.” I imagine he was thinking about his version of the dream.
I grabbed Toby by the arm, “C’mon, loverboy. Let’s get out of--”
I was interrupted by an angry-looking Sarah appear. “What the hell do you two think you’re doing in my memories?!” She demanded.
I blinked at her, “Uh, you see. Toby was so fucking curious that he wanted to know what was wrong. And uh… How did you know we were here exactly…?”
“Death told me she felt that intruders were here and told me to search my memories.” She responded, observing her black-painted fingernails. “Which was a shame. I was having a pretty good dream, too.” She looked up at me, “And what do you mean by “what was wrong”?”
Toby shifted uncomfortably. Sarah looked around at the field of black roses before putting two and two together.
“This was the dream I had right after--” Her eyes widened. “Y-You saw…” She hung her head in shame before sliding to her knees. “No, no, no, no, NO, NO, NO!!!” She cried as she clutched her head, pulling at her hair. “No one was ever supposed to know about that!!” She looked up at me. I noticed that tears were practically pooling from her eyes, she was crying that much. “I-Izzy.. How could you let Toby see…?”
I kneeled by her and patted her head. “Shh, it’s okay…”
Sarah looked at me like I just said that after she witnessed Shadow get hit by a car.
“How can you say that after Toby witnessed my memory of me getting…?” She didn’t finish her sentence as she curled up in a ball and soft sobs came from her body. “I’m tainted, Izzy! Who can love someone like that? Someone who couldn’t even follow her gut instinct and go home? Someone who hurt herself repeatedly? Someone beyond repair or fixing? Someone like me...”
Toby pushed me out of the way gently and embraced her, “I can. That’s who.” The memory we were in changed to a harsh white light. Sarah was walking up.
I blinked as I woke up in mine and Jeff’s room. Jeff was asleep beside me, Michael and Derrick between us. I sighed and laid back. I was exhausted. Soon enough, I fell asleep.
