Chapter Forty Three: Sleepless nights
Kristen's POV:
It was four in the morning, when my baby couldn't just let me sleep peacefully, so I had to get up and go to the bathroom to throw up, just when I thought I was fine and was about to fall asleep again, I felt nauseous again and had to go the bathroom again, looks like this little monster in my stomach won't let me sleep.
From four o'clock to nearly seven o'clock, I was in that constant battle with my upset stomach, so I finally gave up and decided not to sleep, knowing full well my baby was determined not to let me sleep tonight.
I took a quick shower, and grabbed the first thing I saw in my wardrobe to wear, which happened to be my favorite jeans, and a plain shirt.
I checked my tummy in the mirror and smiled when I saw my tummy's size was still the same, and no one could guess I'm pregnant. I liked to keep it a secret from the school for a while, because I knew I will get bullied for getting pregnant at this young age, it occurred to me that the whole school knowing will be of my advantage, since Richard had friends in my school and he would know in an instant, but... my mother is kind of right, what if they take my baby away from me? With these thought in my mind, I can't just go and brag that I'm pregnant.
While I was busy applying some concealer, I heard the doorbell ring, I put on some lip-gloss , and went to the kitchen, I was having my breakfast, my mother was nowhere to be found, but I could hear her talk with someone standing at the front door.
I shrugged my shoulder, poured some coffee for myself in my favorite cup, but just when I was about to sip on it, the smell was too disgusting for me, so I got up and spilled my coffee in the sink.
My mother got in the kitchen holding a paper in her hands, smiling to herself, I was wondering why. But of course didn't ask, she wouldn't tell me anyways, she is the type who never expresses much emotion, so I was a little bit surprised and confused as to why she was smiling now.
"What's the matter, mom?" I asked her, curious as hell as to what had made her this happy early in the morning.
My mother slowly, and cautiously walked to where I was standing, with the paper still in her hands, her smile warmer now.
"It's your lover, dear Kris" My mother declared.
"What about Richard?" I asked, my brows furrowed in confusion, and my heartbeat has increased thousand times faster.
"He has signed your divorce papers, dear." My mother said.
"What?!" I asked, wondering if I heard her correctly.
"Your husband, Richard, signed your divorce papers, all is left is for you to go to court, and then you will be forever free of him" my mother said in a cheerful voice, handing me the paper she was holding.
I read the paper, my eyes widening with every word of it, finally I stared at my mother with tears in my eyes, feeling utterly and completely mad.
" What have you done?!" I shouted at my mother, her smile disappeared and she pressed her lips in to a thin line.
"I did what's best for you, you stupid girl" my mother said, I snorted and shook my head, I stared at the paper again, and that was when I noticed Richard had sent a copy of the divorce petition, and not the original one, I closed my eyes and sighed, then I ripped the stupid paper into many small pieces and threw it on the floor.
"Kristen-" My mother started, but I was so tired and sick of every shit she said.
"Stop it!" I hissed, my mother then looked hurt, but I didn't care anymore, they were all hurting me, so I had to hurt them too.
I hadn't noticed that she was so close to me now.
"Don't touch me!" I said, when she was about to touch my arm, I exploded from anger and couldn't take it anymore, I threw my back pack at her feet and ran to my room.
That night I cried myself to sleep, or maybe I didn't even sleep at all.
