Deborah's pov
I couldn't sleep the entire night. I saw a series of weird dreams all night and the terrifying fact is that I couldn't even make out a single thing about any of it. It all seemed like a weird sequence of movie clips. And the faces were blurred. That made it more frustrating. And as far as I can remember, it was some kind of Victorian fairytale sort of.
I clutched the temple of my head with my index fingers and closed my eyes shut at the table during lunch. I felt a hand resting on my shoulder, " Hey, you feeling alright?" I turned around to see no one but Vlad.
" Um...yeah....I'm fine I guess. Just ...dreams last night. I couldn't sleep properly and then this headache." What I said kind of astonished myself. Since when did I become so open to people? Or was it because it was him.
No doubt he made me feel safe and protected. It felt as if I'd known him for years. That it was destiny. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard finger clicking in front of my eyes. " Earth to Debbie. By the way...do you mind if I sit here with you?"
Had it been anyone else, I would have picked up my stuff and left. But I felt an unknown wave of happiness flush over me when he asked that. " Sure", I said. " Thanks", he replied.
We were eating our lunch and he was hardly eating anything. Maybe he was not hungry. My mind started thinking thousands of reasons of why he couldn't be hungry or why he wasn't eating his lunch.
" You need to stop thinking about my food and focus on yours. You need it more than I do," he said getting up from his chair, gathering his stuff to make way probably towards class, with a victorious smirk on his face.
And I was left there frozen and perplexed. How on Earth did he know what I was thinking about?....
