It was beating so fast that Rose was a bit scared that some of her classmates could hear it. The reason was because Jay wanted to have a talk with her today, in person and in private.
Rose didn't know what was so important all of a sudden. She knew that these kind of talks usually meant bad problems, and she didn't enjoy problems to be in the way of her relationship and friendship with Jay.
She played with the hem of her shirt - a habit she always did when she was nervous or afraid. She looked around, her eyes searching for Jay. She wondered where he was. Perhaps he was nervous, too?
Rose could never read Jay's expression once he put on his poker face. It was the opposite for Rose, though. Jay seemed to know whatever that was going on in her mind and he seemed to find out with no problem at all. That was a bit embarrassing sometimes for Rose.
Another habit she did when she was nervous was that her mind always flew elsewhere from the matter at hand. Like, the problem was that Jay wanted to have a talk, while what Rose was thinking about was about her habits.
Rose yawned. She didn't get much sleep last night due to her nervousness. Yeah, of course. When it came to Jay, she would do literally everything without him even telling her to do it.
She looked around the class once again. Jay was still nowhere to be seen.
Rose decided to walk around the large halls and look around for Jay. Each classroom had three windows that made it possible to see what was inside the class from the outside - unless the people from the inside draw the curtains, that is.
Rose sat down on a bench outside her class once she was done walking through the halls. Jay was probably in the toilet, she guessed. Certainly, Rose had no intentions of checking out the male's toilet. She could only imagine what would happen if she entered the boys' toilet while some boys were in there. Chaos, she'd say.
"Hey," someone called. Unfortunately, it wasn't Jay. It was his sister, Ann. Rose wondered what business wanted to have with her.
"Yeah, Ann? Anything I could help you with?" Rose asked.
Ann chuckled. Rose figured the girl just had a weird kind of humor or something. "Stop with the formality, Rose. You're my soon-to-be sister-in-law, after all," Ann told her.
At that, Rose blushed.
Ann decided to spare Rose for today and so she continued, "Here, Jay told me to give you this. He also said he couldn't go to school today. Not sure why, though."
Right after she finished what she was saying, the bell rang.
"Well, see ya," Ann simply said. She shrugged and ran off once Rose replied her with a 'bye'.
Rose also entered her classroom. She put the envelope inside her bag because she saw her teacher walking to her classroom from the window. She couldn't risk the letter getting caught right now. That would be real bad.
Then, at break, as everyone else went to the cafeteria, Rose stayed seated in her seat and waited patiently until everyone left. Finally, after few minutes, the room.was.deserted and it was only her.
Rose opened the letter that said,
"Dear Rose,
Remember that time you requested me for a love letter? Well, I guess this isn't much, but I'm trying. I'm not going to write down all my love to you because I'm going to show you in person instead.
Why? Well, I guess I'm tired of trying to lie to myself thinking that I could wait, but actually, I couldn't.
When? Tonight. Whenever you're ready. I'll be waiting at our secret garden - the one near the beach.
How? I plan on surprising you, so I can't really tell you how I'm going to show my love in person. I think you already have an idea, though. And no, we aren't going to make love just yet. Sorry if you're disappointed.
See you later,
Jay.
P.S. Use your favourite dress."
Rose shook her head. She blushed a bit when she read 'make love'. Was it really that bad that she sometimes imagined them doing that? It wasn't that bad, was it...?
Rose walked through the halls happily, her earlier mood forgotten. She nearly fell off the stairs because of her clumsiness that seemed to show itself every time she was happy.
Rose smiled at nearly everyone - she was certain she even made some of her seniors weirded out. Who else would smile and wave to the people they didn't even know?
When school was over, Rose ran to her car. She couldn't wait until she reached her house. In the car, she played with the hem of her shirt - again. She was nervous, but at least now a good kind of nervous.
Rose just wanted to arrive at home and use her favourite dress. The dress was given by her mother at her birthday. Rose's mother couldn't come and just sent her a package of this beautiful dress with a message inside it.
So when Rose reached home, she sprinted inside her house, ran up the stairs, and finally reached her room. She slammed the door open, threw her bag on the bed, then slammed the door.
She opened her wardrobe in excitement - she was lucky the doors didn't break. Her hands and eyes quickly scanned for a certain red dress. Her mom told her it could only be use for special occasions, and she was sure a date with Jay was pretty special.
Once she found her dress, she opened the desk of the wardrobe to find a matching pair of shoes. She was so glad when she found a pair of sparkly red shoes. She took them out and put them on the floor.
Rose looked around... Her necklace! Her necklaces were mostly from Jay. The one which she wore daily was a white one saying 'R+J'. The necklace she was going to wear for this date is the red one saying 'Rose <3 Jay'.
For the bracelet, she just picked a random red one. She had tons of those and she didn't even like most of them. Jay was the total opposite. He really liked Rose's bracelets - even more than her.
Once Rose was done doing her own make up, she checked her watch and was surprised to see that it was nearly five. She ran downstairs as quick as she could with the high heels she was wearing, and then outside.
She then told her chauffeur to go as fast as he could.
She stopped the car near the secret garden and told the chauffeur to go on without her because she couldn't risk the location of the garden being known by her chauffeur.
As Rose entered, she was surprised by the beauty of the place. It used to be very trashy, so imagine Rose's surprise when she saw how much Jay had transformed the place.
And what surprised Rose even more was the date that Jay had set up for both of them.
"Jay?"
