I did not know when...
I did not know how I fell in love with her...
I didn't even remember the first time we met, but it just happened. I fell in love with Rose, and fortunately, she liked me too.
I fell in love with her smile, with her laugh, with her. And I despised her cries, her sadness and her tears.
But, she was mine. And that was the only thing that mattered at that time.
I remembered one time when we were kids, I was so sad that my mother passed away. Rose didn't know yet. She thought someone hurt me and she said that she wanted to be a unicorn so she could stab anyone that dared to hurt me with her horn.
And when we were in middle school, I was bullied because I didn't have a mother. Rose protected me from those bullies. Everyone was scared of her because of her father.
I felt like I needed to do more for her. She had done so many things for me, and I hadn't done anything for her.
When Rose announced that I was officially her boyfriend, her father disagreed, saying her taste in boys was so bad. Who had taste in boys, anyways? Your unconscious mind was the one who picked who you liked.
Rose's father said I was an annoying and poor brat who didn't know anything. I almost rolled my eyes at his statement (I was a straight A grade) but I didn't want him to get more mad.
So, she had to fight him, with the help of her older brother, Nathan. Nate was nice. Unlike some other older brothers, he liked me. He said that Rose was meant to be with me. He also said it was an 'older-brother instinct.'
Her father eventually gave up on breaking us two. Rose's mother, Lisa, was in another country at the time the whole fight happened. And when she came, she was overjoyed to find the news.
Unlike Rose's father, her mother liked me and thought it was fine for Rose to have a boyfriend like me.
When the car hit me, it hurt so bad. I gripped on the rose I bought, resulting in my hand bleeding. But that was fine, because I got Rose's flower.
I fainted.
Later when I woke up, Rose came and I smiled. She was still wearing her pajama.
"J-Jay, what happened?" Rose asked.
"My condition is really bad. I'm going to die sooner or later," I stated.
"I prefer later," she said, her eyes watering.
"I was going to a flower shop to buy you a a rose when the car hit me... I'm fine, though. I have your rose with me," I replied and took the rose from the table.
"J-Jay, thank you..." Rose thanked me.724Please respect copyright.PENANAOoazScgtN9
"It's okay. Like I said, I'm going to die sooner or later. And I think I'll die happy now, knowing I finally fulfilled one of your wishes, my princess. I love you."
Suddenly, I felt a pain on my back. It happened so fast that I didn't know how it happened. Perhaps I started screaming, or perhaps I was sweating.
But I couldn't see clearly.
Because I got sudden flashbacks at the times Rose and I were together.
When we were six...
"Ouch!" Rose squeaked.
"What is it?" I approached her.
"I touched the rose, but it hurt me..." Rose frowned.
"Rose, your hand is bleeding. C'mon, let's tell your mom," I said.
When we were eight...
"I'm scared," Rose said. We were at the water park and her mother told her to go on the slide.
"I'll go first and you can go later. I'll catch you, okay?" I offered.
"Um, okay..." She hesitated.
When we were eleven...
"I give up!" Rose said, slamming her head on the table.
I rolled my eyes. "Rose, it's just Math," I said.
"Yeah, well, it's just Math for a genius like you, but it's torture for a normal girl like me," Rose said.
"You aren't normal. You're smart. Now go finish it."
When we were twelve, my father invited Rose with me and him to the cinema. Rose agreed because she didn't know what we were watching. When she realized we were watching a horror movie, she made me promise to let her hug me every time she was scared. And I let her.
When we were thirteen, I asked Rose on a date and she agreed. On the date, she suddenly requested a poem for me. Rose loved poems and I hated them. She probably did this to torture me anyways. "Come on, Jay..." she said with those puppy eyes.
So I gave her the most cheesy poem ever. "Roses are red, Violets are blue, This might be cheesy, but I love you."
When we were fourteen, I asked her what she wanted for her birthday present. Rose said she wanted me as her best friend. Some people might think it was friendzone, but for me it was a pleasure to be my crush's best friend. She wouldn't hide anything from me, and I wouldn't have anything to hide from her.
When we were fifteen, I asked her, "Do you remember when we used to be enemies? We fought about everything, then we met another enemy and decided to team up. Do you remember when we were playing in the park? I pushed the swing for you and you pretended to fall, I nearly had a heart attack and we fought the whole day. Do you remember when we were watching the birds? We fought about which one was better- eagle or peacock."
I smiled at the memories.
I was certain that I loved her, and I was right.
There was nothing to regret about my life.
Because until the last minute of it, I spent it with my love.
