Dear All!
Every story or fiction needs active readers - the group of people who continuously read, comment, and share your works. It doesn't have to be a large group because quality is more important than quantity.
Why do you need these readers? That's because they will lead to more exposure and more readers of the same nature. More importantly, they can act as your source of inspiration and motivation to write stories and spark ideas.
Therefore, below are a few ways for you to turn readers into your active story fans.
1. Respond to every comment
You don’t know who will be the next loyal fan of your story, but you can make sure you don’t miss one by responding to each comment on your story. It really makes a big difference. Readers like to see a writers who step down from their authority to get to know each one of their readers. Saying a simple "thank you" is already very effective.
2. Follow your readers and commenters
Yes. Follow your active readers and commenters. They can be good writers and idea contributors too. If they have commented on your stories or shared your publications, they are probably interested in both your stories and you as a writer. Following them will allow you to form good relationships and discuss ideas among each other.
3. Update regularly to be consistently awesome
As a writer, you are the one generating the content and stories for readers to enjoy. So you need to make sure that you can maintain the schedule. If you can realistically only create two story posts a month, then go with that. The key is consistency. You are better off posting regularly than posting irregularly.
Hope these suggestions will provide some insights to you all on building your story fan base!
Happy writing and have a nice weekend!
