"Miss Coleman, thank you so much for agreeing to let us stay. I really appreciate it." Maxis says as he finishes unpacking and hanging up some of the clothes he bought with him, then slides his suitcase underneath the double bed in the room he and Elliot will be sharing together.
"It's no problem, Maxis. You and Elliot are welcome to stay as long as you need to get back on your feet."
"I will be looking for work though upon the completion of my medical rehab and discharge from the Military. While I could just live off the pension I'll receive, I believe not having to do will drive me crazy."
"True. Keeping busy and feeling like you're contributing something to the wider community is important to some people, I understand.
Now, Elliot. What are you going to do with the spare time you now have?"
"....."
"He doesn't know yet, Miss Coleman."
"You could always come to work with me at my company if you like? I'm the Director after all."
"I'll think about it."
"You miss Kiera Bailey don't you? How is your friend? I understand what happened roughly, but it's clear you omitted the more gruesome, serious details."
"We have protocol to follow, Miss Coleman. I cannot divulge everything."
"I understand, Maxis."
"Mum."
"Yes, Elliot?"
And Elliot looks at Maxis. "Oh, you want to tell her..." He whispers.
"Tell me what? You can tell me anything like you. I won't judge you, I promise.
Neither of you if it concerns you both."
"Uh... Maxis and me are-"
"You're dating eachother, I can tell."
"Uh, something like that."
"It's okay, no problem. I do want to say though, I actually was kind of getting the impression the way you talked about Kiera, Elliot that you might have had feelings for her."
"Everyone keeps saying that." He says under his breath. "I do, Mum."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"I do Mum. Maxis too."
Then her face pales and she nods her head slowly. "Right... Uh, well, settle in.
You know where the toilet is, there is snacks in the fridge and pantry and I'm going to take a nap, I pulled a late shift late night. Just going to use my laptop real quick though so I'll be awake for a bit.
If you need me, come get me."
Then she retreats out of their room, slowly pulling the door closed behind so she can go to her room to use the laptop and google the term, 'Polyamarous'107Please respect copyright.PENANANSA2uWgrlB

"She's your Mum. Mum's are supposed to be."
"Yeah, but not all. Look at the raw end of fate, Kiera freaking ended up with."
"Yeah, that wholeheartedly sucks and I feel bad for Kade as well. Having a Mum like Kaylee V, but it was also for the best she gave up both of them.
If she has kept them, who know what their futures could have been, but I doubt it would have been good, willing to bet some point that social services would have ended up involved at some point."
Elliot nods. "I'm tired, can we take a nap?" He asks, crawling under the covers.
"Sure, I just want to look out the window real quick." Maxis says, taking a few steps over to it and throwing back the curtains.
He looks at the sparkling city, cars below and the beach. "That is a million dollar view. You're Mum really made a life for herself, she's loaded."
"And she didn't come back for me."
"That resentment and other feelings you have are going to take a while to process, but look where you are now, Elliot.
She does care, and she's trying to show you that."
"Yeah, and more empathy than Dr V will ever have. Emotions too."
"Actually, I think she does feel a little, Elliot. But it consists of only anger, jealousy, and things like that for her."
"Why is she a Sociopath?"
"I don't know what really causes Sociopathy, Elliot. It's really complicated and I'm a flight pilot, not a Psychiatrist.
It could be any number things. Kaylee didn't know how to look after and love Kiera and Kade. Actually, I briefly looked into Kaylee's past when my Dad wasn't looking.
Seems like poverty was a factor for many years in her early life till she ended up completing several degrees, that was mainly after she gave her children up though and that's all I know.
There was nothing on her parents, where she grew up, went to school, nothing.
"....Come to bed."
"Of course, Elliot."
And Maxis pulls the curtains closed and joins Elliot, slipping in under the covers. They hug each-other tight and drift off to sleep in each-others arms for a few hours as packing up some parts of their apartment on base was exhausting.
---
Elliot and Maxis walk down the corridor of the on-site hospital for the military base. They pass a lot of staff who greet them, it's just after lunchtime. "Hi!" Maxis says for the 50th time, having encountered another smiling face.
"Ah, boys! Right on time." Calls out General Peterson from up ahead. "Dad!" Maxis says, giving him a hug again.
"How's Kiera?" Maxis questions.
"I knew you we're going to ask that. I've sat down and had a chat with her.
She has been a tad on the quiet side and not very talkative, but her doctors aren't too concerned. When she sees you both, I have no doubt she'll perk up a bit and start to chatter away."
"Did you tell her about Kade?"
"I did."
"And how did that go?" Maxis jumps in.
"Her expression was rather blank and she didn't express sadness or anger or anything really. I did go over it a 2nd time with her and asked her if she understood what I was telling her.
She repeated it back to me so I guess she understands."
"Do you think she really feels nothing about it?"
"No, I believe she's masking her emotions. You both should talk to her about it, no doubt she'll open up and be honest about her feelings with you both."
"Other than the life of the drugs she was on running out and hearing Kade is dead, has she expressed wanting to be discharged and/or wanting to renew her passport and leave us?"
"She has not requested to leave, Son. Not the hospital or the country, not you both either."
"I'm relieved."
"Is she on a hold?" Elliot pipes up, now jumping in.
"No. The Doctors don't feel she is a danger to herself. It's very like those feelings she had we're only because of the situation she was in.
Trafficking, and then Dr Kaylee V."
"I'm glad..." Elliot murmurs.
"Can we see her, Dad?"
"Sure, go in. I have some paperwork to attend too. If you need me, either of you or Kiera, I'll be in my office." And then General Peterson begins to walk off.
"General, wait!" Elliot calls. He stops. "Yes?"
"You called Kade's adoptive family?"
"I did."
"How did it go?"
"His adoptive sister answered the phone instead of their parents."
"Oh..."
"Yes."
"What did she say? What was her name?"
"I cannot reveal her name."
"What did she say?"
"She cried, reacted how I expected. Put her parents on after a bit. They handled it a bit better than she did, but we're still sad. Bitter sweet ending I guess."
"So, what is happening next?"
"Kade's body is actually already on a local flight home to them as we speak.
An autopsy was not carried out."
"I'm sorry, what?"
"Elliot, you know corpses can go in the cargo hold. They just don't advertise the cargo list to the public..." Maxis nudges him.
"I'm going to throw up."
"Uh- I think I should take my leave now." General Peterson says sprinting away. "Let's go see Kiera, come on." Maxis says and they walk up to her room, knocking on the open door.
"Come in."
"Heyyy, Kiera!" Maxis says smiling, stepping in. Elliot follows.
She looks straight at them, face dead-panned. "How are you feeling?" Elliot asks.
"Better now that I'm not on any drugs at all."
"That's good. Mind if we sit?" Maxis asks and she nods. They both take a seat near her bed.
"General said you both moved off base. Where?"
"Uh- Elliot's Mum is putting us up for the moment."
"I see."
"The view out the window- hoo boy! It's a real million dollar view, overlooks the beach, Kiera."
"I'd like to see it, we could go boogie boarding."
"Sure, of course you can! Right, Elliot?" Maxis says, elbowing him with a big grin on his face.
"Y-yeah..."
"So, are you saying you want to join us? Where do you want to go Kiera when you leave here?" Maxis wonders.
"Can you get me discharged?"
"N-now?" Maxis stutters.
"This hospital bad is not the best, but it isn't terrible. You both are way comftier pillows."
"Oh, you want us, hey?" Elliot chuckles. "I want you, baby's" She laughs back.
"Oh, you hear that? She wants us." Maxis laughs too, slapping his hands against his chest.
"Oh, no, I'm blushing." Kiera says, trying to hide her bright pink cheeks with her hands.
"So, can I get out of here? Pleaseee?" She begs. "Sure, I'll go talk to the Charge nurse. No problem." Maxis says, standing. Elliot stands too.
"Can I have a hug before you both go?"
"Of course!" Maxis says, bending down to hug her. Elliot too.
"I love you." She says. "Aw, I love you too." Maxis responds and Elliot freezes, seeing her pull Maxis' keypass out of his back jean pocks swiftly but gently and slips it underneath her back, hiding it.
She whispers, 'say nothing', gesturing with her finger to Elliot who nods and stays quiet.
"We'll go to talk them and see you in a bit." Elliot smiles, standing back up.
"Anything you want us to get you also? Maybe a chocolate bar from the vending machine?"
"A chocolate bar sounds great! If it's not too much trouble."
"It's not, we'll bring you one back." Maxis smiles.
They leave the room and Elliot feels anxiety bubble inside of him, but he says nothing, being her unwilling, willing accomplice, her partner in crime.
When they're gone, Kiera quickly hops out of bed. "Stupid hospital PJ's. Hope I don't stick out too much like a sore thumb too much. Can't let any staff notice me." She mutters, exiting her room and heads down the opposite end of the corridor, away from the direction Maxis and Elliot headed.
She has a score to settle, a few actually.107Please respect copyright.PENANAPwJF8XrdYH
It begins with Nadine May who is here and ends with Kaylee V who is also here.
She finds her way into one of the offices. Once in, she picks up one of the chairs and slides it under the door handle, jamming it so she can search in peace for any documents that will give her an idea where Nadine May and Kaylee V are being held.
She had heard talk of about 10 employees from Gavin & Dion's we're still being held on site for a reasons.
Some didn't have bail money to put up or their family's we're to poor too or their family's had disowned them and left them to fend for themselves or some refused to call anyone.
Looking through filing cabinet after filing cabinets, she comes across what she is looking for. Pulling them out, she lays them across the desk and her hands shake a bit when she opens Nadine May's.
Let's see what they've written about her, or the General did. Not sure who must have sat here and typed up files and observations on them. She is also looking for where she's being held also.
Once she has all the information she wanted, she just tosses is flimsily back into the filing cabinet and removes the chair, slipping back out into the corridor and hurries towards where they're being held.
Once she finds their holding cells, she slips in and then jams the door again with a chair. Standing there, glancing at a remaining group of 10, each separated into their own individual cells, all asleep inside a plexi-glass box with air-holes, her eyes narrow in on Nadine May who's asleep, eyes closed.
Her long blonde hair is a mess, and her clothes are a simple grey t-shirt, grey sweatpants and a pair of grey socks, no shoes.
Walking up the plexi-glass with her arms folded, she knocks on the wall separating her from there.
"Wake up."
A few wake up amd look blankly, but others stay asleep in the other cells so she taps harder, waking them all. Nadine rubs her eyes, albeit groggy.
"Nadine May."
"W-wha, y-yah?" She murmurs, trying to suppress a yawn then her tired eyes widen a little bit when she sees Kiera and she hops down from the bench, taking a step forward to the plastic wall between them and places a hand on it.
"K-Kiera B-Bailey?"
"Yeah, it's me."
Nadine May looks around the room. "Something tells me you shouldn't be in here, that you don't have permission."
"Very deductive for you, Miss Supervisor, wouldn't expect anything less. Oh, wait! You're not any more."
"Kiera, I don't know where you came from. But I recommend you go back there before you get in trouble."
"Don't tell me what to do!" Kiera yells, slamming both her fists against the plexi-glass, causing it to shake and Nadine May to jump back a bit, but she has nowhere to go, bumping into her bed. The cell is small and cramped.
Kiera smirks. "Not so tough now are you that you're on the other-side of a cell for once, are you?"
Nadine crosses her arms. "Tell me what you want, Kiera. Cause if you're just here to taunt us, taunt me, you've done that.
If you have nothing else to say, just go."
"Did you ever feel bad for the things you do? Did you know they we're wrong?"
"Kiera..." Nadine says, tears filling up in her eyes and she places both hands on the glass.
"Where we came from changes a person, and the people that created and led that place, really bought out the worst in a person, even in the kindest soul.
I was 14-15 years old when they started to prey on me, did you know that? I was just a child.
"I'd be willing to be $5 on that, and I don't care about your story."
"If you don't want to listen to me, then don't ask me questions." Nadine May, hisses, starting to feel irritable as she woke her up.
"But to answer your stupid question, I knew the things I was doing we're wrong. We all did, but we just convinced ourselves along the line that what we we're doing was okay.
Because the opposite of that was every little thing being confronting. If you show fear in a place built on organized crime, it's a guarantee that prisoners will then revolt and scare the high hell, living daylights out of you as Staff otherwise."
"I read the file, Dion and Gavin had on you, and what the Military has said about you too. They don't reflect each-other."
"Oh, you did..."
"Yeah, I did. In your file, it says you wanted to assist with being part of something bigger, something out of the ordinary. You seeked adventure and money.
That is an obvious lie now."
"Not completely. I did seek money, but the rest wasn't the real me and I told you, they preyed on me, Kiera. Groomed me, I was 14. It was mostly Gavin and my parents are both sick in hospital.
Me and my older sister need money, but she thought I worked a normal job and didn't know I was being groomed from age 14.
"And?."
"Go ahead and say it then. Tell the remaining members in the room, I don't care. My life is over anyway and so are theirs."
"You we're interested in becoming a Lawyer. Working in a place all while wanting to advocate for justice and freedom is just weird."
"It doesn't matter anyway, my life is over."
"So you want to go to jail for the next 30 years or however long you're going to be sentenced and have no interest in telling your family where you are?"
"Yes. At-least I can pay for what I did and the image of me in my parents and sisters mind isn't tarnished.
Kiera, I'm worried about you."
"I'm fine!"
"I don't think you are. How do you feel?"
"Better now that I'm not being held by y'all anymore or in the hands of a Sociopath."
"Who?"
"Dr Kaylee V. You should know, she's the one who wanted me."
"Oh... Kiera, I'm sorry. But she paid a lot of money for you. Giving you over to her was my bosses calls as well.
And I didn't know how sick and twisted she was..."
"And that only traumatized me worse! You we're there the day I was kidnapped off the street and bought to suffer. Before, I was just a normal girl working in a pizza shop franchise.
And you shattered that! I'm far from normal now, my life is anything but ordinary."
"Kiera, I'm worried you're going to do something you'll regret.
Are you going to hurt yourself?"
"Far from that."
"I'm relieved to hear-"
"I am going to make you and Kaylee V suffer though."
And Nadine May gulps. "I hope you burn in hell, Nadine May. You deserve to suffer for the rest of your life.
The career you dreamed of is gone, you're freedom has been taken, you're far from the country you called home and you're life is meaningless.
It will be anything, but normal now and whenever the fuck you get out, you still won't get to live a normal life after that.
Ex-cons don't get hired or anything and Canada is not taking you back. You won't be able to find anywhere to live and no other country will take you.
I'll see you in hell, Nadine May when I die."
And Kiera walks away, leaving a sobbing Nadine May behind who falls to her knees, choking on her tears and starting to have a panic attack. "Nadine, it's okay!" Bonnie calls out to her, but neither or anyone else can do anything to comfort their ex-supervisor.
"Nadine!" They panic as she starts hitting her broken arm, in a sling against the plexi glass again. They all start pounding on the plexi-glass and crying out for help, for someone.
"What is going on in here?" Says Vincent walking in. "Can y'all please quieten down? You've just had a meal-
Medical, I need medical!" He says, shouting into his walkie talkie when he sees Nadine May harming herself again.
He struggles to unlock the door. "Nadine, I need you to breathe for me.
Stop throwing yourself against the wall, it won't solve anything."
Adam comes running in. "What's happening, Vince?"
"She's harming herself!"
They get Nadine out the cell, dragging her to the floor and he holds her down, trying to make sure her doesn't get broken worse. She's going need a doctor to examine it again for the 3rd time.
"Adam, go find a weighted blanket or something, and a doctor!"
Vincent tries to calm her down. "Nadine, it's going to be okay. What you're having is a panic attack, it's going to be okay.
You don't need to hurt yourself."
"Lopez!" Says one of the staff still inside their cell.
"What, Bonnie?!" He snaps.
"She's acting out because of someone, they pushed her emotionally."
"Who? Wait- Was someone else in here?"
She nods quickly.
"K-Kiera." Nadine chokes out a moment later. "Hey, I need some help in here! Someone else for christ sake!" Vincent begs.
"What's the emergency?" Says a co-worker coming in, the name Thea on her badge.
"You need to go check on Kiera! See if she is in her room!"
"W-why? What's wrong?"
"S-she's going to murder Kaylee!" Nadine cries out and Thea and Vincent look at each-other seemingly horrified.
"I'm calling a code." Thea says, hitting a big red button on the wall, then picking up a speaker off the desk, notifying the whole medical floor.
