“This is perfect,” James said, his pleased laughs echoing throughout Grimmauld Place. “You and Anthony, as Dumbledore said, can infiltrate the meetings as some posh, Pureblood supremacists… God, it’s almost too perfect– Blackthorn and Weathers, prominent pure-blood families–”
“Okay, James, we get it,” Raegan chuckled. “The Order of the Pheonix, huh?”
“Duh,” Sirius waltzed in, adjusting his hairdo. “You guys made the right choice.”
“The best one…” Anthony agreed. “Still,” James continued. “I didn’t think actual Slytherins would want to…”
“Oh, shut up about the Hogwarts houses already,” Remus barked, peering over his newspaper. “Ever considered how stupid the whole idea was? Separating people based on a few traits into only four houses? Mental…”
Sirius smiled a wide and stupid smile as Remus went on. “They were clearly biased– The moment people heard about Salazar and his pureblood ideologies, they immediately assume that’s what everyone in Slytherin wants– Well, obviously, not everyone! MERLIN for God’s sake was in Slytherin! He didn’t go on a rampage, did he? But EVERYONE likes him!”
Remus ended, grumbling with annoyance. “Point taken, Moony,” James placed his hand over his heart. “I will now shut up about Hogwarts houses, but I will not abandon my Gryffindor pride.”
“Good for you,” Remus muttered as Sirius stroked his hair endearingly.
“Back to the plan,” Raegan resumed, writing a few notes down. “We do this badass entrance to every meeting, all mysterious and high class. Obviously, Mr. I’m-A-Dark-Lord will find it interesting and try to peer through our minds… We’ve mastered Occlumency, so that’s no use for him, but we can listen in through the others.”
“Right,” Anthony murmured, pointing out a spot on the map. “My mum said the next meeting’s going to be somewhere around here and the password’s ‘Pureblood Raegangns’. She recommended us to them, actually… Ugh…”
“We can’t change everyone…” James placed a comforting arm on his shoulder. “But we can control our actions…”
“Shit, after all of this, I’m going to hide out in the Schwarz forest in Germany…” Raegan muttered, circling another area on the map. “I heard there’s an old-timey suburb of magic folk there… I need a break from this British Ministry. The Germans have it all figured out.”
“Actually,” Anthony lit up. “I do know a few people from there. Good friends.”
“Perfect,” Raegan smiled, giving him a peck on the cheek. “Gotta look for that blueprint then…”
“You made a house plan? Complete with enchantments?” Lily gasped, suddenly becoming interested. “Well, yeah,” Raegan smiled. “Accio Blueprint.” A piece of parchment came whizzing out from upstairs. “I took inspiration from the map–if you know what I mean.”
Raegan waved their wand and it unfolded, showing a large house complete with three bedrooms and baths, a lavish kitchen, banisters, winding staircases– Notes moving around, here and there, explaining functions…
“I don’t even know if we’ll have our money by then,” Raegan sighed. “But if Hogwarts taught me anything, it’s to always have a backup plan…” The layout shifted into a modest two-story family home… and a large fireplace for floor travel. “Travel on a budget… I like it…” Lily murmured, quite impressed. “James, we HAVE to do this– Look at it! Isn’t it adorable? You can do it too, right?”
“Yeah, yeah,” James kissed her forehead. “It’ll be even better.”
“Planning your future together? When did you guys get so… OLD!” Sirius retched, falling back onto Remus’ lap, who didn’t even flinch. “I don’t know, Sirius…” Remus said, finally putting the paper down. “Maybe it’s because they love each other so much, they want to spend the rest of their lovely lives with each other. But now that I know your opinions on such talk, I won’t bother–”
“WAIT! NO, I DIDN’T SAY THAT! REMUS! COME BACK! I WANNA PLAN A HOUSE TOO–”
Remus had dumped Sirius on the floor and was making his way upstairs.
They chuckled, watching the two bicker like an old married couple…
“Speaking of lives, where’s Wormtail?” Raegan asked, scanning the room as if they would randomly find a rat sitting oddly in front of a block of cheese. “Could he not make it?”158Please respect copyright.PENANAfpCcgaxyAW
“Pete…” James murmured thoughtfully. “Last time I saw him, he was at a pub talkin’ to some hooded bloke. Thought they were having an enthusiastic conversation by the looks of it. Didn’t wanna cut in.”
“Oh fuck…” Anthony muttered, everyone’s eyes darting to him. “Hooded bloke, you say? Enthusiastic talk? Bloody hell, I think that’s a Deatheater trying to recruit Peter!”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” James said, quite confident. “Wormtail would never fall for such speech. In fact, he sent an owl today, didn’t he Lils? He said he can’t make it because his Mum’s sick. He’s a momma's boy, isn’t he? How sweet…”
The room grew silent. Raegan could practically see James’ trust for Peter just radiating off of him.
“Anywho!” James clapped his hands. “Good luck on your mission, me and Lily will just get busy with our tasks at hand!”
Raegan and Anthony locked eyes, fearing the worst.
