Stan wakes up looking at the roof, he gets up and look at the grey walls of the house, he look at the clock 6:30 he gets up and slowly walk to the kitchen in the next room he pass beside the table and kneels, opening the shelf and taking up slices of bread and taking from the fridge ham and cheddar, making two sandwiches, eating them and dressing up to go outside, coming down the stairs he sees his neighbors looking at him intensely or ignoring him, he lower his head and continue downstairs, walking to the bus stop and waiting for it to come, he goes inside, watching two men trying to harras a woman, no one raises an eye and at the next stop twp policemen come inside, the men resist but the police takes them, they continue and Stan check his phone, not a single message, his face stay the same and he continue inside the building, his co-workers waving at him and he waves back and goes to change clothes.

After he change he comes out and hear his boss shouting from afar with a joyful voice "Stan can you come to my office?" He turn and Stan follows him, he enter and close the door behind him, he walk to the table and moves the chair to sit, his boss says "oh Stan don't sit, I won't take much of your time" "have I done something?" His boss sigh "no Stan it is not about you, it is about the business, you see with the competition we have i had to contribute a large part of the money in ads and i have to say it took a large amount of money to make this large internet cooperations to let me show our work" he look at Stan in the eyes with a serious face "the point is i had to stop the payment of many employees for this month and that includes you" Stan eyes wide open and look at his boss in the eyes "sir, i know we have a large competition but please dont do this to me, i worked hard for this company to make a good name" his boss lean forward "i know Stan, but if we want this company to survive we have to make sacrifices" Stan smash his hands on the table "you cannot do this to me, after everything ive done" his boss says with a calm voice "Stan ive done many sacrifices too, i will pay you the next month, just be a bit patient" Stan swiftly grabs his boss from his formal clothes "you will pay me and as i deserve" "Stan i know about your problem and i understand, please let me and we will discuss it" Stan pulls him closer and throws him to the door making it open, his boss falls and his co workers look at Stan, his boss gets up and backs down as Stan rushes to him and grabs him again, his co workers grab Stan and pulls him back, he tries to break free and hits one of then with his elbow, making his mouth bleed.

After many minutes he lose his stamina and look around him as his co-workers let him free, his boss come to him and says "I'm sorry Stan but you have to leave, I will send you the money the next month as I promised" Stan with his head down, go to the lockers to change and leaves, he grabs his phone and text at Aline and Mason "can I come to your house at the afternoon?" Alina answers"sure come" Stan press like to the message and goes to the bus again, looking outside the window at the nuclear power plant and the solar panels at the top of the mountains far enough from the city, he leaves the bus and walk to his house, hearing some people here and there talking while the rest are busy at shops, three d print constructions and programmers, engineers and electricians running errands to businesses all over town.

He enter his house and lock the door, slowly walking to the couch and laying on it, he take his phone out again and plays some mucic, closing his eyes and singing the soft melody along with it, he stay like this for an hour and gets up, felling his heart calm, he continue his steps and takes some money and goes outside, taking the bus and going to the city center with the shops in lines mext to each other, some offering the same things with different logo, cheaper or more expensive, he goes inside a store where the sign above reads "apelos" he goes inside looking at the endless lines of electronics on the shelf, from headphones to drones to printers and small robot comapnions that help in the cleaning of the house, Stan eyes look at the price tag "eighty thousend monato monato" he continue and look over the shelf with headphones, he fimds a wireless one inside a blue and black box and check the price "fifty monato" he takes it and goes to the counter and then leaves and goes to the bus and comnects them, playing music and looking ar the empty bus and then the solar panels of each house,a sudden urge comes from the music to start singing, he try to shut his mouth and after a while the words come from his mouth without even noticing it, a lady comes inside the bus and sits close to him, listening his voice and when he makes a glimpse with her eyes he stops.

The lady says with a worried voice "oh I'm sorry I didn't want to scare you" Stan takes his headphones out and the lady repeats herself and then says "if you want to continue, I liked your voice" Stan place his headphones and the words come out, he take a look at the lady seeing her smile, as the bus stops he look at her again and take his headphones out, the lady says to him "it was a nice thing listening to a real voice like this again, thank you" Stan smile and said nothing and the lady left, Stan continue his destination and he knocks the door, the door opens and he enter inside the house of Alina and Mason, seeing Mason playing a vr game while Alina hit Mason in the back and leaves the vr, they all sit on the couch and kook at Stan with a worried expression as Alina says "so what happened?" Stan says as he look at the console on the shelf, projecting Mason's game" I was fired today" Mason look at him and says "why would they fire you?, You were the best of engineers and programmers, even good enough for a job at the big companies or even for the big ones owned by the USS" He grit his hands together and says "I had a disagreement with my boss about the payment" he turn his head to the ceiling and says "I will find a job sooner or later, they can't take all of them right?" Alina and Mason look at him worried, Stan look at them for a moment and turn his head back to the ceiling "can I sleep here for tonight?" Alina says " yes you can, but you have to sleep with Mason in the bed" "I will not sleep" Alina says " do as you wish" and goes to eat.

Half the night they laugh, smile, and do whatever their hearts wish, but slowly their energy drains away and they start feeling lethargic, before sleeping on the couch or the floor, Stan look at them sleeping deep and he place his headphones and listen to music as he watch the ceiling a sudden urge to leave come to his mind and opens the door leaving and going for a walk, looking at the night sky with no stars showing in it, only the green moon and the large luminous balls in the outer space, blazing and give energy to the planets when the sun lights away, Stan continue to walk among crowds who drink and wait at their phone until the alcohol start making them energetic, he walks with his eyes forward, his headphone in his ears and his mind elsewhere.

As he walk he stumble upon a large line of people ranging for meters, he look at the building they are entering one by one and sees a poster on the wall "job offers for people inexperienced with technological advancements" he extend his hand and asks a man from the line "I'm sorry, could you let me pass?" The says "you better go from behind the line, I will not make a step back so the others can take my place" Stan look at him with a cold stare and pass through him, pushing him out of the line and the man behind him taking his place, the man scream at Stan and nobody raise an eye, not even Stan as he leaves.

He goes back to his house, seeing in his door a mail, he opens it and it says "from the united solar system, we give an opportunity for people to explore the worlds and Stars along with our military and people all across the solar system" he almost place it back before looking at the large letters below "if you join the program the USS will give you the financial benefit of two billion monato, along with a job that provides a wealthy financial stability" Stan eyes wide open and read more "engineers, programmers, people of weapon training will be the first to join in the ship" Stan runs
And takes the bus and runs to the house of Alina and Mason, knocking on the door, Alina opens it and with her eyes almost closed and her eyebrows pulled together, she opens her mouth and before speaking Stan says "Alina look at this" Alina grabs it and reads it, murmuring the words on the paper, her eyes suddenly open and wakes up Mason from the couch and showing the paper in front of his face, he also reads it and look at Alina and Stan with a smile "let's go, we can finally earn the money we deserve" Alina asks "but will they take us? Many rich people can just give money and pass to the ship" Stan grabs Alina from the shoulder "Alina its not like the big cooperations and businesees, they cant offer money to the USS to go in an expedition, as Mason said we can finally ear the money we deserve, think of our sweat and time we put to learn programming, engineering" Alina replie with a sarcastic and angry tone "and for the rich and wealthy to take them while we try to pay for the bills and having buying almost nothing for ourselves" Stan says "right, now i will go to my house and in the morning im going to make the paperwork for me to enter the expendition, goodbye " Alina and Mason farewell him and he leave, taking the bus once more with the people looking outside the window listening to music or doing their work in a range of devices, from laptops to phones, he leaves and go to his apartment, he make some food and he eats it quickly and goes to sleep, trying to sleep but staying awake for an hour because of the excitement.

He gets up eat and leaves the house and gets the bus and watch blue, shiny sign of the bank and the white walls with paints of smiles and large structures, the door opens as he step to the stairs and he step on one of the many lines of people lengthening until the exit, he wait for hours looking at his phone through memes and posts of people promoting their bodies, products and many more as art, Stan scroll down and saw an ethereal painting, a calm feeling get to his chest and mind, showing a city at night with people walking by and the lights of all kinds of colours, almost looking realistic, Stan scoll a bit more down and his eyes catch a conversation at the comments "this art is too beautiful to be made by a man," another respond "yeah it looks like a generated ai made it" another one comments"and what does it matter if its generated or by hand? I cannot paint so good and the ai can really help me show my thoughta and feeling on a paint" he scoll down a bit more, videos of music, dance, sculpting, poems everyone disagreeing if they are ai generated or not" his mind gets focused on the comments and abruptly he hears a voice "sir, can you please come with me?" Stan raise his eyes, seeing the man sitting on a desk behind the glass, Stan says "yes" the man close the glass and opens the door, leading Stan to some stairs upwards, he open the door to a room and Stan enters before him, the room surrounded by glass make Stan look at the shiny and clean roads behind the bank, he look for a minute and the employ sit on a chair, opening his pencil pen and making Stan snap out, he turn to him and the employ makes him a sign to sit, after that the employ says "welcome to our bank mr" "Stan weber" "if i have to guess you are here for the expedition?" "Yes and i would like to start the process as soon as possible" slow footsteps are heard from below, the employ says " right on time" he opens the door and a grey robot about a humans height enters, the employ led it a chair and sits, Stan starr at the robot with a confused look and the employ says "we are sorry that we didnt inform you but as you know right now we have orders from the USS to oversee the robots and see if they are advanced enough to fill the places of employes for all the works, i hope you wouldnt mind" "not at all" "lets begin then" the employ oversee the robot and starts asking questions to Stan, he reply and then the robot asks for his papers and Stan gave them, the robot scan them and copy them, saying with a light tone like a human "thank you for your time, we will inform you on your personal email and by mail on your adress" the robot accompany him to the door and he leaves, he sees the clock 2:00 and as he go to the bus stop he sees adults running to the bus stop or walking with quick steps towards their himes, saying only a cold goodbye to their co workers, the teenagers follow this mindset too as the school bell ring and Stan sit looking at his phone people uploading their political opinions on the internet, only to quickly turn into an argument with no valid points and claiming that if they turn against them, they are racist, homophopes and non humans or martiansto judge, Stan scroll down looking at a photo of a new vr headset along with the price,he sees people fighting again at the comments some saying "remember guys you have two kidneys, if you sell the one you will have enough ONLY for this gen"
And others saying "this price is only natural for how much recourses and time they needed to make this thing, just get a job and pay for it you ungrateful bitch" and others saying "motherfuckers will buy it even if it's broken"
The fight rages on and Stan ignores it, the bus came and he goes back to Alinas and Mason's apartment he knocks on the door and Alina respond to him, Stan asks "how was the job today?" "Very good I have to say, some new faces came to work and Mason guided them around, even if as a guard of this place it's my job to help people"
Mason says nothing as he work on his laptop, Alina goes behind the laptop and look at him with her intense wide eyes, Mason's eyes look at her and he close the laptop, Alina drop a laugh and they all sit together, Mason says "how was the process?" And Alina adds "did they accepted you?" "They said they will inform me through email or by mail, what about you?" Alina says "we haven't find the time to go yet but maybe tomorrow" Alina look at the turn off tv "do you think it's a good idea to go?" Stan says "we talked about this, why do you still have doubts?" With a sarcastic voice she says"Going away from our planet and into the unknown?" Stan open his mouth and Alina says "I mean we don't have much money to buy things for ourselves but we can make it out" Stan says nothing and Mason says "but it's an opportunity for a new life" Stan look at Aline with rage and shouts "Alina, we talked about this, I'm tired of hearing you doubting about the expedition, let's just go and rake the money" Mason and Alina look at Stan controlling his breath as he looks at them "I'm sorry, I shouldn't shout, I better leave"
Alina grabs them both from their shoulders and pulls them to her side "just promise me you will stay on my side when we arrive on the planet, " Stan says "we will do not worry" "I just trust only myself to protect you" Mason says "whatever you say guard" Alina laughs faintly and leaves them "anyway let's go for a walk, I'm bored all day at the job and the house"
