Episode 6 Finale - Murder on the Agenda
"Ow," I said then, wincing as Sebastian lightly dabbed the wound on my forehead with a patch of gauze. "Ow! That's hurts, you dimwit! Be kinder, Jesus!"
"Master, I'm a demon, not a nurse," he smiled, "although I do have medical knowledge, my goal in life it to kill and torture people, not be gentle." He kept dabbing. "And relax, I'm almost done."
He finally finished and caught some bandages, lightly wrapping them around my head seconds later.
I gazed up at him. "Are they covering my eye?"
He nodded.
I then touched the bandages before sighing. "Well, I guess that works. It's not like the patch will fit well over the bandages, anyway." I then was quiet for a moment before I smiled softly. "Reminds me of old times... when we first signed the contract. I had bandages over this eye for two weeks before we found the perfect eye patch."
Sebastian just smiled when he carried the tray of gauze over to the trashcan. "Getting sentimental, master?"
"Oh, shut it," I said then, lying down on my bed as my feet dangled off the mattress, "just memories, that's it."
Sebastian just sighed and stared down at the gauze. "That's a lot of blood, master. You ought to be more careful."
"You're the one who let me get kidnapped in the first place," I said then, watching him dump the contaminated medical supplies in the trash can. "And it wasn't that much blood. Calm down."
Sebastian just turned toward me, brows raising. "Well, if you had called my name, I would've found you sooner. But, no, I had to fish it out from some thug's swollen throat." He sighed, shaking his head. "Very unbecoming of me and lazy, in my opinion." He then stepped over to me. "And here's me thinking, 'Oh, master's gagged or something. Maybe that's why she isn't calling my name.' So I fished it out."
I glared up at him as he leaned down and started pulling off my shoes. "You know I couldn't call you. I had my eye covered, and you can only hear from a certain radius with it being covered. If the eye patch was off then the contract would've alerted you when I called your name. No matter how far I was."
"Maybe you should uncover it then?" Sebastian suggested, pulling off my socks.
"No..." I said quietly, "I just need to be faster in calling your name when I'm kidnapped in my own home. All I could get out was the first two syllables which wouldn't have alerted you enough."
He just stood and leaned over my form, unbuttoning my dress gracefully. "I can hear anything from over a five mile radius. If you had called me on rout, I would've came."
"I was unconscious," I stated in boredom, letting him guide me up as he slipped my dress down my shoulders and caught my night shirt. "He hit me in the back of the head before they kidnapped me."
Sebastian paused after pulling the sleeves on me. "The back of your head?" he echoed. "Hard enough to knock you unconscious? Master, do you have a concussion?"
I lowered my lashes. "I don't think so. It doesn't hurt bad anymore. I don't even think it was bleeding, anyway."
He gazed down and went back to pulling my shirt fully on, buttoning it seconds later. "Would you let me take a look at it, at the very least?"
I just sighed and nodded. "Sure, whatever."
He finished and just pushed my head forward, making my eyes widen when my cheek on his shoulder and his hands roamed up my neck.
I had to resist shivering as something warm tore through my veins.
He felt under my scalp before pain shot through me, and I winced.
"Indeed, there is a lump," Sebastian said, pulling away as my cheeks burned a bright red. "I suggest you lay down. You need rest. I will check your symptoms tomorrow, alright?"
I stared at him, lips thinning in embarrassment.
His brows drew together in concern. "Master, your face is flushed, are you alright?"
He then leaned too close and pressed the back of his hand to my forehead, making the warm inside me grow into my stomach. "You're warm... But not burning up."
He pulled away then, guiding me to lay with his soft grip. "Why don't you lie down? You need your rest. We will reassess the situation in the morning."
He pulled the sheets over me then, making me gaze up at him.
Sebastian just leaned over me again, face almost six inches from mine as he set the back of his hand on my forehead again.
I gazed up at him as heat flashed through me this time.
"You're warm..." he noted, eyes softening. "Are you feeling alright?"
I nodded numbly, avoiding eye contact.
"I really hope that there's no concussion," he stated then, pulling away and brushing my bangs back in place. "That wouldn't be good at all. I need my master healthy. I shall keep a closer eye on you. These worthless humans are going to damage my master, and I cannot have that."
He smiled down at me. "Alright, now get some rest, my lord. I'll check on you later, okay?"
I nodded.
The moment he stood, I immediately said, "Until I sleep."
He gazed down at me then, red eyes glowing with the soft lamp light dimming the room.
His lips curled a little, telling me he knew what I was talking about.
Sebastian just sighed and stepped back over to the bed, kneeling beside it casually as I stared at him for a moment. "Until you sleep, master. Go ahead. I won't leave."
He waited patiently, red irises reflecting the light with a sudden softness.
But I snuggled up with the blankets, turning to my side to face him as I closed my eyes, letting my brows relax.
It was odd how I needed a demon's presence to rid of my fear of others... Sebastian nevertheless.
He was the mastermind of my planned demise, but... he made me feel safe knowing that he'd protect me from the other monster's lurking about.
At least I had a say in my death with him, I knew when it would happen, why it would, who would cause it, and how bad it would hurt.
No one else could kill me or harm me fatally with Sebastian around. And even when I was at risk... Sebastian had his ways of healing me if I was in dangerous territory.
I shuffled more into the covers, parting my lashes slightly to find his chin set on the bed as he waited, watching me kindly.
The contract stated that Sebastian must protect me from fatality and death itself. If something harmed my survival, even if the seal was covered by an eye patch, the contract would immediately alert Sebastian and he would come to my rescue.
If I wanted to summon him... I had to have the patch removed.
But this explained why he had to find me rather than just appear there. I was being harmed and injured, but not fatally. So the contract would not alert Sebastian of my whereabouts.
He had to find me.
Which took him a short amount of time, itself. He had... his ways of things.
"Master, you're staring at me," he said then, chin still set on the bed. "Close your eyes, okay? You'll fall asleep faster."
I listened then, letting my lashes fall gracefully as his presence remained there.
I was tired, but... even so I needed him there so I could sleep peacefully.
I needed Sebastian's darkness to rid of the unwanted shadows.
That's what he was, though...
The thing that would cause my death...
But the thing that would protect me from it.
Protection from the shadows of the underground. The mobs, trafficking rings, murderers, and serial killers.
Wasn't it ironic that in order to keep me from the shadows of the darkest souls...?
I needed an even dangerous, sadistic, and menacing one.
Sebastian Michaelis... my ultimate protector...
And my ultimate demise.
