Episode 3 Continued - Her Butler, Trained to Heal
I stared lazily into the dark room, haven been put to bed hours ago, it seemed.
Sebastian instructed that I should sleep, but I couldn't... not with everything on my mind. It was chaos in my head, everything running rampant and screaming at me.
I needed to find out who that 'father' person was, I needed to figure out of Eileen was the first he remodified.
I lightly ran my hand down my face and sighed, sitting up on my bed as I rubbed my eyes.
Hmm... I wondered what Sebastian was doing. It was a little after three in the morning, so was he asleep?
Did demons even sleep?
I just let out a soft yawn and picked up my eye patch, quickly tying it behind my head and getting up off the bed.
After spending too much time struggling to put on my daily wear—curse Sebastian for finding such chaotic stuff, only he could put them on the right way—I then got my shoes on, brows drawing together as I struggled to slip my feet in, and when I did, I leaned down to try to tie them.
I made an impatient sound when I pulled at the laces. "Uhm... what was it father said? Over the rabbit? Wait, no." I attempted to form a loop, but it slipped apart. "Ugh. How do I do this again?"
I struggled for a moment, trying to remember how to tie laces, but I couldn't recall how.
"Ah, master," Sebastian said from behind me, making me stiffen, "can't do anything without your butler, can you?"
I just closed my eyes tightly as he sat a lamp he held on my nightstand and circled around me, tying my laces quickly afterward.
He then stood up, smiling at me. "Ah, no, this won't do."
I blinked, but he just pulled at the knot I formed from my eye patch.
He circled back around me and started undoing it. "You have to tie it in the form of a bow, master. You see, when you do it like this, it's too tight. You knot things like this if you won't want them coming off. You'll have a hell of a time trying to undo it."
I stared forward, cheeks lighting slightly as he undid it and tied it the right way.
"Now, master," Sebastian stepped back around, picking up the lamp, "where is it you want to go?"
"Out," I said.
"I see," he smiled a little, "well, come on then."
He started out the bedroom door and I followed him.
We walked all the way down to the main entrance, and Sebastian set the lamp aside, once more, to catch my jacket and help me into it.
He buttoned it up seconds later and turned away, opening the front door seconds later.
It was dark outside, the sun clearly set a long time ago, and wouldn't rise for another long couple hours.
Sebastian closed the front door behind me. "Warm enough, master?"
"Yes," I replied.
"Now, where is it you want to go?" he said, stepping to my side.
My lashes lowered. "The library."
He gazed down at me in amusement. "The library's long past closed, I'm afraid. Shall we try somewhere else?"
"No," I said, shaking my head, "it's open for me." I then stepped forward, and Sebastian followed behind me.
"As confident as ever, young master," Sebastian said, still following me. "I'm curious... what is it you're looking for exactly?"
"Well, you're looking for it," I answered swiftly. "And... I don't know."
He made an amused sound. "Ah, I see. Asking the impossible from me again."
"You're a demon, Sebastian," I answered. "You are impossible."
"I suppose," he answered then. "Do you have a specific topic, my lord?"
"The 'father'," I answered.
He just smiled and gazed down at me. "Still on that topic, aren't we? If I could be frank, my lord, I might say you're obsessing over it."
"If I don't obsess over it, then I'll be dead," I answered darkly.
He was silent then, and I could feel his demonic eyes glow dangerously. "You know I would not let that happen, my lord."
"I almost did," I told him. "With the poisoning. If I might say... I might've died and you couldn't do anything about it."
I turned to find him glaring sharply at me.
"Am I wrong?" I said, brows arching.
His red eyes narrowed. "I could've."
"Oh?" I said, tipping my head to the side.
"It would require kissing you," he said this time, smiling now. "And I know how much you hate that. Because last night, when I did, you were definitely asleep and not pretending you were at all. That's why you didn't stop me because you were definitely asleep."
My confidence fell immediately, and I felt my face pale.
I just stared forward, clearing my throat as my cheeks burned a bright red. "Sarcasm doesn't suit you, Sebastian."
"Oh, I think it suits me very well, master," he answered.
I grumbled under my breath.
He just chuckled. "Heh. If I knew you'd be this flustered, then I would've done it sooner."
"I am not flustered!" I hissed.
"Your red cheeks say otherwise," he answered.
I glared forward. "I'm going to kill you. Slowly."
"Oh, no..." he said sarcastically, "please, have mercy."
"Oh, shut it, you twit," I snapped. "You're insufferable."
We stopped by the library then, and I just closed my eyes and took a breath, opening them seconds later.
I pulled a key out from my pocket and pressed it into the lock, parting the door seconds later.
We entered quietly, and Sebastian closed the door behind him, locking it and gazing back up at me.
"Master, if I may ask, why do you have a key to this place?"
"I own it," I answered.
"Oh, yes, that's right," he nodded, "you're rich and spoiled."
I shot him a look. "Are you just going to continuously insult me or do something useful?"
He just closed his eyes and smiled, stepping past me to a table that was centered in the room, and he pulled out a chair. "Sit, please, master. This shouldn't take long."
I just sat in the chair, setting my arms on the table as he pushed my chair in and suddenly vanished.
"I guess it couldn't hurt to sleep a bit while I wait," I said then, yawning. "Not that he's going to take an eternity or anything."
I set my head on the table, letting my lashes flutter shut.
