Episode 7 Continued - Knowing the Demon
"Cammie," I said as she lightly dusted the books in my study, "where is Scarlet?"
Cammie gazed up then, settling back onto her feet. "Scarlet's cleaning the bathroom, master! Would you like me to get her?"
"Indeed, I do," I answered, "and get Carter as well as Maddox. Wait," I said before she left, "do not give Sebastian a suggestion of your whereabouts. Bring them quietly without alerting him, understand?"
She quickly nodded and rushed out from the room.
Minutes later, the others rushed in behind her, swarming in the room like a group of nervous flies.
"Close the door," I said then, setting a cheek in my hand.
Carter just swallowed something hard and shut the door behind him.
Maddox shifted uncomfortably on his feet. "Master... did we do something to upset you?"
"You always do something to upset me, Maddox," I said then, sighing as he slumped his shoulders. "But, no, I am not reprimanding you at all. I am very grateful for all the work you put in on that attack from those men last week. It was very skilled of all of you."
They all gazed up at me then, eyes glittering.
"So, I have a task for you," I said then, smiling as I clasped my fingers together, setting my chin on them. "Are you up for it?"
Cammie's eyes glittered. "A task?"
"For us?" Scarlet continued in astonishment.
I nodded. "Indeed, I do. Are you willing to hear me out?"
"Indeed, master!" Carter said, saluting to me. "Anything for you!"
"Good," I answered, pulling the camera out from under my desk. "You see this? This is a digital camera, but it's not any camera. It's special."
"A special camera?" Scarlet echoed. "How so?"
I just smiled and set it on my desk. "It's made from one of my oldest friends, the Overtaker."
Carter just blinked. "Oh, is that the creepy ol' fool who hides in his dungeon shop?"
"Indeed," I said, nodding, "he made this especially for me." I shifted it. "It's a special camera that shows an image of what someone's thinking when you take a picture of them. A very odd tool, if you ask me, but I assure you it works."
I then picked it up. "Cammie, step forward."
She listened immediately, taking one step forward as I aimed the lense to her. "One... two... three. There."
I pulled away, showing it to her.
"Is that...?" Scarlet said, leaning in to look.
"You bombing the castle?" Carter continued.
"With King Charles's body parts flying everywhere?" Maddox finished.
"Oh, my!" Cammie said, eyes sparkling at she stared at the image. "My dream! The biggest bombing in the entire world! Oh, my... I think about that all the time! That's amazing!"
"Ooh!" Maddox said, jumping. "Me, next! Me, next!"
I just sighed but complied anyway, aiming the camera to him as I clicked the button. "One... two... three. There."
I gazed down at it, brows drawing together when I saw him dancing with a small, frail lady who looked like she was in her seventies.
Maddox looked to it, eyes sparkling as he danced around. "Oh, that's amazing! My first kiss! True love!"
Carter just looked at him in concern. "Dude... aren't you like... twenty?"
He stopped dancing immediately, glaring at him. "I can dream, okay?!"
"I'm not even going to ask," I said then, sighing. "But, anyway, my job for you, my servants."
They all straightened and watched me curiously.
I just smiled and slid the camera across the desk. "We need to take an image of Sebastian."
All of their eyes sparkled immediately, clearly getting as curious as I was.
"Now, now," I said then, covering the camera with a hand when they stepped forward, "patience. Let me go over the plan."
Cammie and Scarlet set their hands in front of them while Carter and Maddox straightened.
"As you know," I said then, clasping my fingers together again and setting my chin on them, "Sebastian is very fast. He has an incredible speed. And although this is a digital camera, in order to read his thoughts correctly, we must make him sit still for three seconds at minimum."
They nodded once.
"So, we have to get him to sit still for three seconds without gaining suspicion," I said then, "any ideas?"
"I mean... we can try to take a picture of him now," Scarlet said, thinking. "This time of day, he's cleaning the library."
"Yes, but as master said, Sebastian's fast," Carter replied, "we're going to have to get him to be still."
"Cleaning will make him stand in one place," Scarlet answered.
"No, it won't," Carter said then, shaking his head. "Have you seen Sebastian clean? It's like a tornado of organization. So... like a whirlwind that fixes everything instead of destroying it. I'm telling you that he fixes up that library every day and it only takes him ten seconds no matter how filthy it is."
Cammie stared off into space for a moment. "We can try to get him to fix master up for a moment."
We all glanced over at her in confusion.
"Well..." she stated, chuckling nervously, "Sebastian does dress you every morning... so if you mess up your tie a little and call him in, we can attempt to capture the image while he's tying it."
Scarlet's lashes lowered immediately. "If he cleans the library in ten seconds, I guarantee tying master's bow is going to take half of one."
We all grew silent then, thinking.
Maddox gasped then, raising a finger at an idea. "Here's a curious thought... why don't we just ask him? It won't hurt, right?"
We all looked at him, hoping he wasn't serious.
He blinked and shrank back on his feet. "What?"
"Ask him?" Scarlet said. "He's going to come up with a plan to destroy the evidence if he figures out what this camera is."
"Sebastian likes his secrets in the dark," Cammie said then, eyes sparkling in astonishment, "along with his freshly murdered corpses."
All three servants looked at her in concern, and took a step backward, away from her.
"Anyways," Scarlet said then, "what else could we do? We have to get him to sit still for three seconds, but he's lightning fast."
We all thought for a moment again.
The moment an idea popped in my head, I closed my eyes tightly, pressing my fingers to my forehead.
"What?" Maddox said. "Master, what is it?"
"She has an idea," Cammie stated, "and it looks like a dangerous one from her expression."
"Dangerous?" Carter echoed. "No, master! We can think of something else, right? We should not hurt you anymore! You've been hurt too much in the past."
"Yeah!" Scarlet continued, brows drawing together. "Just a couple weeks ago, you were kidnapped and beaten! We can't possibly hurt you!"
I just gazed up in annoyance. "You don't have to hurt me, just attempt to."
They all blinked.
"Uh... master," Cammie said then, brows drawing together. "I like murder and stuff, but uh... I personally like you and I don't want you to die."
"Awww, look at that," Carter said, wrapping an arm around Cammie's shoulder, "she likes something other than bombs!"
"Yes," Cammie stated in annoyance, glaring forward, "and keep close to me like this and you might find a grenade in your bed."
He immediately let go and stepped away, raising his hands innocently. "My bad. Sorry, Cammie."
"Master," Scarlet said then, voice tinged with concern, "are you sure this is a good idea?"
"Indeed, I am," I answered smoothly, "if I am at risk for death, Sebastian must come to my rescue. And then you take the picture."
Cammie just sighed through her nose. "Okay, so... attempt to kill master? Not a good thing for me. I don't know how Sebastian is supposed to save her from an explosion. Let alone having one without destroying the entire mansion."
"I can throw knives at her," Scarlet suggested, "but... it's a bit anticlimactic."
"Hey, all my expertise is in guns," Maddox said, shrugging. "In my opinion, knives are more interesting."
"And I don't think shoving master into a room of chlorine gas will be good for her," Carter said, thinking. "It will be more likely to hurt her more than kill her. And we wouldn't get a good picture if we're all melting, either."
We all thought harder.
I just sighed. "I have an idea."
They all glanced at me in question.
