I take a breathless breath in and a sharp smell of antiseptic hits my nose. I struggle to breathe, but that's not just because of the antiseptic smell. It's almost like something is lodged in my throat. I go to move my hands, but I can feel something is holding them down, my other limbs too. I'm completely immobilized.
Two voices cut through the silence. I'm unable to will my eyes to open. "When should she wake up, honey?"
"Any time now, baby. Let's deal with Avery while we wait for our newest prize to add to our collection of Elite to wake up."
"Good idea, baby! This is why I love you! You're so smart!"
"And I love you my baby ."
Yuck! I can feel myself wanting to gag upon hearing their conversation, but I can't.
I hear a door open. "Sebastian, Rain!"
"What is it, Paige? You know that you and other Guards aren't allowed in here! This is our private laboratory!"
"I'm aware of that, sir. It's important though."
"Spit it out, Paige! I and Sebastian don't have all the time in the world."
"Uh..."
"Oh, wait, yes we do! Ha, but just not in this timeline as we'll reach old age, but we'll respawn so to speak considering our daughter doesn't want us to leave this cycle."
"I-I know. Y-yes, Miss. I-I understand. It's just that Ricky has gone on a slight rampage and gone missing, the two last remaining members of Avery's and Sam's team are gone too...
W-we secured the rest of Valerie's team in the the exiled section of the city. They're pretty upset at us which is understandable a-and S-Sam became emotional when she heard that, Ricky had gone missing. She's gone... Like, well, I don't know. Almost like she's in a coma again...
Why did you have to shoot Owen-"
"Shut up, Paige! I'll come deal with the whole shitstorm, alright?"
And then Rain leaves, following Paige. "Well, Avery. You've been graced for a few more minutes. Let's just give you another sedative to prolong your sedation even though we already have you under. Wouldn't want you waking up on us again while were not ready for you.
Hmm, I should check on Shelby and see how she is while were having a little 'sidetracking.'
See if she's ready..." And then I hear Sebastian's feet trail away, the door closing behind him. I try to strain, but I can't break whatever is holding me down and then I feel myself lapse into unconscious again.
---
I wake up hearing voices and the sound of stuff being moved around. "Geez, she isn't awake yet?"
"Seems not, Rain. We must have injected too much."
"Hmm... Maybe."
"You should have known better!"
"Me? Excuse me? How dare you!"
I feel an itchy feeling in my Nose and I scrunch my face up. I let out a shaky breath and next thing I know is the sound of footsteps. "Ah, good. You're awake!"
Was that Sebastian? I peel my eyes open. Everything is blurry, but it's enough to make out him and her, towering over me. They have lab coats on and masks across their face. Rain's long hair is pinned up in a bun.
"Come on, Sprout, don't keep us waiting." Sebastian hisses. I shake my head, trying to clear my fog. I also give a kick or two, but as I'm still restrained down. It's no use.
"You aren't getting out of that so easily, Valerie." Sebastian says. "What have you done?!" I cry. "Owen was your son! Why are you doing all this stuff to everyone? Let me go!" I cry which earns me a light slap from Rain. It stings a little, but not a whole lot as I'm still under the influence of medication.
"Let us tell you something, Valerie." Sebastian says, pulling a seat over for him to sit on. Rain too.
"W-what?" I choke out.
"I'm so sick of people getting in my way. I-I mean o-our way." Sebastian shudders when Rain glares at him. "This community is supposed to be a nice place to live, but without followers, it's not so nice. You're ruining our community that we've worked hard to build, stressing them out, some are rebelling because of you and your friends and you've dragged Avery, Samantha and the 'guys' down with you too."
I think you could do better, be elite. In time, I suppose you'll make better decisions then." Sebastian snickers, Rain does too. "Now, let's kick-start the process, hmm, Sprout? I know You have potential, we just need to bring it out don't we?"
Him and Rain stand up from their seats. Rain pulls a cart towards them. A tray is on it filled with about seven syringes. They are all white and look like they just came out of the freezer except for the last one which is a light, murky blue. It does look slightly frozen though... I see Rain and Sebastian pull on some surgical gloves and they both pick up a white needle each.
"W-what is that? What are you going to do to me?!" I cry out. "Not you, Sprout. Not now anyway, but soon." Sebastian responds as they both look at me while holding a needle each in their Hand.
I feel a few tears start to slide down my face and I let out a small whimper, lightly tugging and pulling on my restraints when I hear a unexpected Voice. "V-Valerie?"
I turn my head and try to sit up as best I can. Avery is awake and sitting up as best she can too despite her restraints. "Aw, shit." I hear Sebastian curse. "Does it really matter now? Don't worry about her being awake. It will just cause her to suffer more simply and I don't mind if Valerie hears. Might assist in breaking her if anything and hearing both their screams could be quiet pleasant!" Rain says.
"Maybe you're right, maybe you're onto something." Sebastian says. I see them both head over to Avery. She's cowering in fear with both of them on either side of her. "V-Valerie?" She chokes out, her eyes bug wide. "Just be good Avery and this will all be over with so much faster." Sebastian says and I see him and Rain both pull tighter on the last of Avery's restraints that she's held more firmly against the bed. She has her head turned and looking right at me.
"She can't help you, Avery." Sebastian taunts. "W-why are you doing this? Stop, Please!" She cries out, but they ignore her and then I see them both inject their needles into both her shoulders, each. She cries out, screaming and is trying to move writhe around, but she can't.
"Just close your eyes, Avery! It w-willbe over s-soon! Y-you can just drift away..." I choke out as it's the only thing I can think of. "Y-you'll see Sam!" I say, not having the heart to tell her that Samantha is still alive. They were all tricked, everyone into still thinking Samantha was dead.
This way she will have something to look forward too, I hope she's not angry with me in death...
"VALERIE!" She screams much louder when they inject her with a 3rd and 4th needle. They step back and I see Avery start to convulse a little, but it stops quickly. She hasn't vomited luckily, but her pupils are enlarged though...
"Last ones." Rain says, grabbing the another needles. One white one is left for me. I-Is that one left for me? I hope not, but I know I'm wrong. It's just wishful thinking...
"V-Valerie..." I hear Avery whimper. She's still looking at me. I see a tear slide down her cheek, her face and skin turning sickeningly pale. "I'm sorry, Avery. I love you." I utter. She tries to speak, but can't and I see her eyelids flutter, then they close completely. Her chest is no longer rising and I see Sebastian and Rain both take a step back away from her.
"W-why?!" I yell out. They ignore me. They're really quick to shuffle her into a body bag and throw onto the floor like she's trash. I scrunch my eyes up, feeling them burning and resisting the urge to be sick. My hands shake as I scrunch them up, feeling tingly.
If only I had my powers...
I hear the sound of metal and I open my eyes.
"W-why did you do this?! WHY?!" I yell out, choking on my tears. I almost choke fully. Dying on my tears would be better than being here... "You know why. Now for you, miss diamond though, a scuffed up one right now. But like we believe, we can shape you into what you're truly supposed to be, elite and Avery? She was just another one of the hundreds of members we have.
All useless." Sebastian says. I see him pick up the last white needle. "W-what is it going to do?! What is it?!" I cry.
"Merge in it's converted form, except this is extra strength as we combined it with some other medicine. You will having a convulsion or two, but we have an antidote. Let's just make you a little more susceptible rather than forgetting who you are now, hmm?" Sebastian says,
"Forgetting who I am?" I ask, and then I let out a scream feeling Rain pull on the restraints to hold me down more firmly. I scream again louder, feeling the burn from the needle as Sebastian injects me.
A painful agonizing 10 minutes by. They're smirking at me, watching me suffer. My voice is hoarse from screaming and my eyes are truly burning. I can feel the dry tears on my Face. W-why aren't I dead yet?! Why?! I'd rather die than endure this fate! This isn't destiny.
I suppose not though because I've only had one needle of the stuff. Avery was given five in the space of two minutes. Is this how Sam felt when she fell in a lake contaminated by Merge and I left her for dead? I'm so selfish!
I let out a cough, feeling something disgusting on me.. Someone wipes it off.
"That's one convulsion and one near convulsion, Sebastian. We let this go on any longer and she may die or end up brain damaged..." I hear Rain utter. "Fine, fine. Let's give her the Antidote now." Sebastian says. I feel a needle in my arm and it's feels like I'm getting drowsy. I force my eyes open and everything is blurry. I look at them before blacking out again. Not without hearing one sentence though.
"Congratulations Valerie, you're no longer a Sprout or a scuffed up diamond. You're elite, all nice and shiny!" Sebastian bellows.
