“Why are we still floating in the portal?” Tori asked, who was now a full-grown middle-aged lady from drinking a green potion.
“Must be a long ride,” I murmured.
“Where are we heading exactly?” Cuddles tilted her head.
“To my grandpa’s house, which is in Illinois,” I admitted.
“Yep, this is gonna take an hour.” Slithers heaved a sigh and took out a deck of cards from his satchel. “Wanna play?”
“Sure.” Cuddles and I nodded in unison.
“Wha-what are we playing?” Tori stammered out.
“Greek cards of course!” Slithers rolled his eyes and spread the cards out.
“Choose a card.” He pointed at me.
I nodded and took a blue card out of the spreadsheet of cards. I flipped it over for only my eyes to see and I found a picture of my father in golden Greek clothing.
“Your turn.” He pointed to Cuddles and then said “your turn” to Tori when Cuddles was finished picking.
Tori picked a white card.
Then Slithers drew a card out from the spread.
“Next, we turn our cards over.” Slithers turned his card over showing Poseidon.
“Ah, piss-baby has been chosen for you Slithers.”
“Tori, just turn your card over,” Cuddles said.
Tori turned her card over and showed it was Apollo.
Cuddles turned her card over and showed Aphrodite.
Everyone stared at me as I turned over my card and showed the picture of my father.
“Okay, next we call the gods for what their magical moves are,” Slithers spoke.
“But how are we supposed to do that?” Tori crossed her arms and stuck her tongue out annoyingly.
“I was just getting to that.” Slithers gritted his teeth with narrowed eyes. “So, we think about the greek god or goddess we have gotten and they will send their moves.”
“So… it is kinda like chess?” Tori tilted her head.
“I suppose so,” Slithers said as he moved his card a bit.
“Let’s begin.” Cuddles hissed.
I began to think about my father and something popped into my head, using the staff move.
“K, your first up.”
“I project a staff move,” I said, without even thinking.
Suddenly my card floated up and projected my father, he was ready in battle stance form.
Slithers spoked, “I project an ocean slam.”
Poseidon appeared and waves tried to splash my father but he encountered it with a protective dome.
After a while of playing Greek cards and all that stuff, we finally were almost there.
“We’re gonna have to pause the game.” Slithers grabbed the cards and shoved them into his bag. Then I turned around and jumped out of the portal, following behind my friends.
