As we walked down the cold streets along the park, Halo was muttering a lot in Greek..276Please respect copyright.PENANAKdKHW1bp87
“Halo, you okay?” I asked as we passed by the park near my house.
“Yeah,” Halo told me, a pained look in her eyes. “It’s just… your mom and dad made you go and live on Mount Olympus… forever… don’t you feel unhappy?!”
“What?!” I asked, surprised. “I didn’t even know!”
“Yeah… I am sorry but… there is no going back…”
A sickening feeling tightened my stomach, a feeling of regret and confusion.
“Now… are you okay?” Halo asked.
“Yeah…” I murmured, in a daze of what I just heard.
Why did I have to leave home?... Especially on my birthday… I thought silently.
Suddenly a car passed by and a cool wind breeze whisked by us.
“Where are we going to sleep?” I snapped out of my daze of emotions. Halo gave me a confused look., “Sleep?!”
“Yeah, sleep, I usually sleep,” I responded to her.
“Oh… I don’t sleep, or rest.” Halo spoke like I should have known this.
I stared at her in confusion, “What do you mean you don’t sleep or rest?!”
“Messengers can’t sleep or rest because they always have to focus on delivering messages back and forth from Olympus to the mortal world.”
“So… I can’t sleep.” I figured.
“Yeah… must be unfortunate,” Halo spoke with sympathy. “But you’ll get used to it.”
I sighed. I’m gonna miss sleeping… I thought.
“Why do we have to travel on foot? Why?” I asked, trying to change the subject.
“You can always use your winged shoes,” Halo suggested.
“Okay… what words?” I asked as we slowed down to talk a bit more.
“Kai unh so.” Halo said. “It's simple really.”
I nodded then breathed in and then said the words, “Kai unh so.”
I suddenly began to float up in the air, the shoe’s wings flapping.
My eyes widened when suddenly the wings made me shoot through the sky.
I felt like I was walking through the air, then I began to sing this, “I CAN BELIEVE I CAN FLYYYY!!!” Over and over again, believe me, you would have done it too if you could fly, that was when I began to fall.
I began screaming and shouting for help, I felt like I was gonna plummet to my death, I was at 10 feet… 6 feet… 3 feet… BOOM!!!
“Ow…” I grimaced in pain.
“Shh! Don’t wake any of the humans,” Halo warned in a mix of anger and worry.
Some dogs barked in the distance.
“Or some dogs in this case.” Halo groaned.
“Ow…” I repeated then looked down at my leg, a deep bloody gash was there.
“Oh, for goodness fates! You already got hurt.” Halo groaned in annoyance.
Did she just say “for goodness fates”?! Who the heck says, “for goodness fates”?! A random flaming phoenix named Halo does.
“Where are the bandages?” Halo asked as she searched my bag. As she went deeper into the bag there were some crashing noises which caused some nearby dogs to bark again.
“Ah-ha!” Halo exclaimed from inside the bag.
She began to crawl out with some golden thread from the bag and some bandages.
“Since it looks that bad, I am going to have to sew that gash right up!” Halo said proudly.
“WHAT?! Are you psycho?!” I screamed as I tried to back away from the phoenix. Who the heck sews a gash up with thread?! Not even proper medical equipment.
“What? That is how gods and goddesses get healed when they have deep gashes like that.” Halo pointed at my gash which was bleeding gold-colored sap instead of red normal blood.
I gave her a confused look, then I remembered gods bled gold instead of normal mortal human blood.
“Listen, it may hurt but you will be okay.” The phoenix said.
“Yes… listen to Halo…” The mysterious voice agreed.
I relaxed and sat down.
Halo brought a thimble out of the bag along with a needle threader.
“Breath and breathed out.” She said, then she began to work.
She put some gold thread through the needle threader hole and then put the needle threader in my leg and began to sew. Golden blood began to ooze through the holes and I bit my tongue in agony, it was the only thing I could do to keep from screaming.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon.” Halo tried to soothe my pain.
I tried to smile but I couldn’t without screaming in agony so instead, I kept my mouth shut.
“Done!” Halo said and then wrapped the sewn-up gash with some bandages.
I stood up, the pain slowly edging off.
“Come on! We have to keep going!” The phoenix said as she gave me my bag by picking it up with her beak.
“Thanks,” I said as I swung the bag behind my back.
“Follow me!” Halo told me as she began to fly, fast.
I groaned and then I ran along with her, Limping because of the gash. No way was I gonna fly any time soon.
