Captain Doran stood face-to-face with Neraxis, the enigmatic Lord of the Abyss. "The Eclipse Sovereignty?" Doran questioned, his voice a mixture of curiosity and irritation. "What’s that?"
Neraxis’s smile widened as dark energy crackled around him. "That information is forbidden," he replied, his voice echoing with an eerie calm.
Doran crossed his arms, his stance casual despite the tension in the air. "I’m going to go out on a limb and assume you’re the one behind all of this?" He gestured to the chaos unfolding in Vandros.
Neraxis’s eyes glinted with malevolence. "Maybe," he teased.
Before Captain Doran could react, dark chains began slithering up his legs—Abyssal Chains. The chains, made of dark, pulsating energy, coiled around him and snapped tight, instantly siphoning his strength. Neraxis's smile grew wider as he watched Doran struggle. "These chains will drain you of your will and energy. Surrender now, human."
Doran let out a soft chuckle. "How silly of me." He paused for a moment, still caught in the chains. "Fell for the oldest trick in the book… maybe I should’ve skipped that resort last week and done some training instead." He laughed again. "Oh well."
Then, with a single stomp, Doran activated his Thunderous Impact. The shockwave from his foot shattered the ground beneath him, sending tremors through the building and instantly snapping the Abyssal Chains. The green aura surrounding Doran flared up, his eyes igniting with a vibrant green flame. "Alright, now… let’s handle you."
Neraxis, still smiling, summoned a dark purple aura around himself. "Don’t get too cocky," he warned as he raised his hand. "Let’s see how you handle this." With a flick of his wrist, Neraxis used Demon Summoning, calling forth a swarm of Malignis Demons.
The ground in front of Captain Doran erupted as the grotesque, goblin-like creatures materialized, their wide, toothy grins flashing in the dim light. The Malignis Demons swarmed toward Doran, their needle-like teeth gleaming.
Doran sighed and cracked his knuckles. "This is gonna be a pain." He then unleashed Tempest Barrage, moving so fast that his punches and kicks were a blur. Each strike connected with precision, destroying every Malignis Demon in his path. His movements were fluid, relentless, and within moments, the entire swarm lay defeated, not a single one touching him.
Neraxis’s grin faltered for a brief second. "Impossible…" he muttered. "A human shouldn’t be able to hold off demons like these…"
Realizing that his Malignis demons wouldn’t suffice, Neraxis raised his arms again, summoning his final and most terrifying demon: the Umbraxis Demons. Dark, wraith-like figures materialized out of the surrounding shadows, their forms shifting and swirling as if made of pure darkness.
The Umbraxis Demons wasted no time in attacking, using their Ethereal Form to pass through solid objects, including Doran’s defenses. Their Soul Leech ability allowed them to drain the life force of anyone they touched, and they moved with terrifying speed, using Shadow Warp to teleport across the battlefield.
Doran gritted his teeth as the Umbraxis demons surrounded him. "What a drag," he muttered, feeling their cold presence inch closer.
Without hesitation, Doran unleashed a devastating attack: Crushing Wave Strike. He channeled all his energy into a single punch, sending out a powerful shockwave that obliterated the Umbraxis Demons in a single blow. The ground around him cracked, and the remaining demons were sent flying, their bodies disintegrating into the dark energy from which they were made.
Before Neraxis could react, Doran appeared directly in front of him using Gale Step, his speed unmatched. With a thunderous roar, he unleashed Fist of the Titan, his fist slamming into Neraxis’s chest with enough force to shatter Omnistron (the strongest known material within all 5 universes).
Neraxis was sent flying, crashing through the walls of buildings and creating a cloud of smoke and rubble. As the dust settled, Neraxis began to rise, but his heart suddenly pounded hard, and for a moment, his life flashed before his eyes. Something was off—Neraxis couldn’t move.
A calm, mocking voice rang out. "Helpless?"
It was Kiera Voss, who had silently arrived from atop the building after dealing with the demon left by Neraxis. She had used her ability, Pressure Point Strike, targeting specific points on Neraxis’s body to paralyze him.
Neraxis seethed in anger, his body unable to move. He glanced up towards the skyscraper at the now-lifeless Vorath Demon that had been empowered by his Devourer's Pact. "How…?"
Kiera smirked, standing over him. "You got too cocky."
Captain Doran approached, laughing. "Nice work, Kiera. I almost thought I’d have to finish him alone."
Kiera chuckled. "I thought for a second you weren’t going to pull it off."
As the two bantered, Neraxis’s fury boiled over. Without warning, he activated two abilities simultaneously—Abyssal Rebirth and Ultimate Abyss.
The ground trembled as the bodies of the fallen demons began to rise again, more powerful than before. The entire city of Vandros was suddenly bathed in a purple, ominous glow as Ultimate Abyss unleashed a catastrophic wave of dark energy. The wave spread across the battlefield, corrupting everything it touched. Mages and heroes who were caught in its path were either destroyed or transformed into demonic servants of Neraxis, their bodies twisted into monstrous forms.
Captain Doran and Kiera looked around in horror as the city began to fall into chaos, darkness creeping over every corner.
"This isn’t good," Kiera muttered, her eyes scanning the corrupted landscape.
Doran clenched his fists, ready for another fight, but when he looked back, Neraxis was gone—his presence completely vanished, as if he had never been there.
"He’s gone," Doran said grimly.
Kiera looked out across the city. "No… his plan is complete. The entire planet is being covered in this dark energy."
The chapter ended there, with the Ultimate Abyss engulfing Zenthoris and Captain Doran and Kiera realizing that Neraxis had accomplished his goal—turning an entire planet into a dark, demonic stronghold.
