Chapter 25: Returning Home
During the walk he noticed gradually the feathers were disintegrating into dust, flying away into the wind to reveal her normal flesh under their cover. While the feathers dissolved, the redness in her eyes began to recede as well. The four wings in her back had also begun to disintegrate as well. Inside her emotions of fear for her father and once livid emotions were calming back down, this calming the pendent against her chest and her own demon magic.953Please respect copyright.PENANAb7yI29JoII
It would be about six or so miles later before Alura would speak again after leaving it in an uneasy silence. “I want my bag.” She ordered sternly in a voice that was back to normal but held a small hint of stiffness. “Bring me my bag and any other remaining items of mine.”953Please respect copyright.PENANAsNUO9lv8pe
He nodded once and twisted around one hand off Nate, not wanting to disobey and see if she would transform again since he didn’t know how she did it to begin with. “Right,” he replied as he snapped, teleporting to her the requested belongings, any that had been left out were back inside the fabric bag that rested over her shoulder across her chest.953Please respect copyright.PENANAniRvahGPXM
She nodded her silent thanks and continued onwards towards the airship dock. Marenzo sighed watching her back with concern. I hope she’s alright after that…if she even remembers it. He thought while carefully observing the four holes left torn into her shirt from the four wings. Small spots like incision scars remained near and under her shoulder blades, indications where the wings once had emerged.953Please respect copyright.PENANAGIPrhDukBe
Once they had arrived at the docks, Alura appeared perfectly normal aside from the few small red marks that remained to show where something had punctured through her flesh. She unzipped her bag, located the money pouch and paid the driver his fee. “Flora if you please.” The pilot of the ship nodded his confirmation of her request, allowing all three onto the vessel. A worker below deck told them which room was theirs, giving them a key and went to check on a few others that had boarded earlier.
The trio entered the cabin and Alura went to the restroom to wash up some at the sink. She wanted to get rid of her dazed and separated feeling that felt like a new plague on her mind. As she did this Marenzo made his way to one of the beds and carefully laid Nate down, releasing a relieved sigh to have the man off his back. Standing up straight before leaning back, the wizard released a small groan as his back popped and cracked in protest of this new position. “Damn it he’s heavy. I know adults eat more but geez.” He quietly complained with his eyes closed before coming forwards and finally stood upright again, opening his eyes to look towards the washroom door. Not seeing her things in the main room he used magic to bring her weapons and carryon into the room so she wouldn’t need to deal with them inside the other smaller room.
He wanted to peer into her mind but at the same time didn’t want to invade any private thoughts she may be having. Maybe I can think of some way to ask later…bet she’ll want to sleep. He thought and made his way over to a cabinet, getting himself a blanket and sat down in a chair where he got comfy for bed. He had noticed he left Nate laying half off the bed so waved a hand, using more magic to lift the man, pull back the bedding, and lay him down gently before covering him up. With another wave of his hand and the cracking of one ring, a pouch with hand stitched designs appeared in his lap. Gently picking it up by one string he brought it under the blanket and slipped it into his pocket.
Alura came out eventually and to not much surprise, saw Marenzo had drifted off in the chair. Shaking her head she made her way to the other bed, sitting down as she felt the ship take off into the sky, getting her shoes removed. The ship began its steady trip towards the floating island of Flora, planning to make a stop at Meldano to drop off a few passengers first. She released a yawn and laid back, covering up and drifted off to sleep into dreams that felt almost non-existent.
