My parents starting calling me but I didn't answer their calls.I know I'll get one of the god-awful lectures but I was busy roaming through the streets of London. In Dominic's Aston Martin. I cannot explain how much Levi insisted we go in his car. I had no time to solve conflicts.
Whoever is reading this,it must be very typical of me to say that Simon always answers his calls. He's one of those people who makes sure that the other person gets his response. But I didn't get one this time. Is he....in a situation of not being able to reply back? I tried to shake negative thoughts out of my head. His phone must have died. Yes,that must be it.
As usual,we got the stares from the people.I ignored them as I tried to listen to Levi's conversation on his phone. We were seated in the back.
'....Precisely. Tell the men to be stationed at different lanes,Hensley and report about the given task within a minute.' He said and cut the call.Dominic's phone rung soon after and he answered.
'Si?...Ya veo...Trate de preguntar a la gente local.Te diré la dirección en unos segundos.Por favor, quédate en la línea.' (1)
Levi's phone rung and he listened for a while. He cut the call and then said 'Got him. His phone's been located at Vista Avenue.'
(2) 'Estar allí en Vista Avenue.' Dominic said to whoever was on the other side of the phone.He took a turn and increased the speed as if a dinosaur had been chasing us. Mia was busy keeping a lookout. She was seated beside the driver's seat.
The avenue was deserted and I know nothing about it since I've never been here. Foul smell arose from the garbage,the drains weren't fully covered and the rats moved around non-stop. Levi lended me his handkerchief.
We moved forward.We got accustomed to the surroundings after a few seconds. Thus we started exploring different sections. No signs of people so far.
' This place could use some cleansing and deco.' Mia squealed from behind her hands. She had covered her nose,unable to bear the stench.
Levi stopped. All of us gave him a perplexed look.
'Shh...Hear that?' He said.We listened with high attention and heard sounds of whimpers. They were a faint noise,coming from a far away area in this avenue. The only light bulb flickered as we fastened our steps. I stopped this time. Everyone looked at me,surprised.
Is that blood I'm seeing? I pointed to the deep red drops on the ground. Everyone stared at it as if they had seen a ghost. Within two minutes,everyone had swtiched on the flashlights in their phones and began searching the area rapidly.
I passed through a large garbage bin when my eyes detected movement. Mia was nearby and she approached me. I turned me head towards it. Is the lid moving?....Using Mia's help I pushed aside the lid.Levi and Dominic stopped their search and were beside me in a matter of seconds.
I dropped my phone. Mia gasped.
Why...Why would....
I pretend to be stong but I'm not. I tried not to show my tears but I failed.
Who has the audacity to beat up my brother like this!?!
Levi and Dominic quickly carried him out of the bin and put him flat on the ground.
He had several bruises. Some cuts here and there....had they used knives?! He looked so brutally beaten.
I wasn't able to speak anymore as I fell to my knees.
Levi yelled 'Put him in the car. Drive to the nearest hospital in the vicinity!'

'Any of his family here?' the nurse asked outside the operation room.
I wiped my tears and stood up 'Um....it's me. How is his condition?'
'It's a miracle he's alive. Too much blood loss. One of his ribs is slightly broken.Rest assured,he will be good as new after 2 weeks.' She said. I nodded. She began walking away and I stopped her.
'You didn't ask me about the expenses.' I said confused.
She faced me completely and said ' The hospital bills and Medical charges have already been paid by two gracious benefactors.' She said looking behind me. Must be Dominic and Levi,I think?
I looked back to find three pairs of eyes staring at me intently.
'How's he?' Dominic asked. I told him and he nodded.I sat down slowly.
'I've spoken to the other nurse. There's nothing to be tensed for.' Mia said trying to calm me.I looked down.
'Once he's in a condition to be able to speak,I shall ask some queries. He definitely knows the people who did that to him.' Levi said walking towards me.
I am not that payback-time kind of a person but I bet my parents are. I don't like to brag but,my mom....she would file a freakin' lawsuit when she hears the news. I texted our little friends' group about this and the reponses were dynamic.
' I'll go check whether we can see him.' Mia said and disappeared. Both the guys sat on either side of me,saying nothing. They tried to hold my hand at the same time and they glared at each other. Goodness gracious.
My phone rung. Uh-oh. I answered 'Okay Dad,I want you to be calm.....' I said and narrated everything which happened till now. They were here after 15 minutes or so. They did the stuff which every parent does: panicking,lecturing,worrying,et cetera.My friends arrived too,with flowers for Simon.
Mia came back and greeted my parents. I must say,she turned a lot of heads wherever we went.Not the time to say this but she could definitely win Miss Universe paegent.
'We can see him now.' She said with an assuring smile.
The room was dimly lit. A doctor scribbled on his notepad real quick and left the room with a nod. Tubes were inserted in his wrists. I think he was given anesthesia as well.Everyone wished that he got well very soon.
It was almost 9PM when the staff asked us to leave. They needed to give him some treatment. I didn't want to leave but I had to.
I got home in 15-20 minutes. During the journey,my parents gave me the biggest lecture I've ever heard in my life but it was of no use. I wasn't listening to them.
I started walking behind them towards our main door when a hand stopped me. I turned around and immediately was pulled into a tight hug. I put my hand on the well built chest of....wait who is this? I looked up and found Levi looking at me. He gently stroked my cheek and I blushed. He was about to ask me something but he stopped. Why? Someone else had pulled me from behind.
My back collided onto that person's front and two muscular arms wrapped around my stomach. I looked up. I always have to look up. I am very jealous of tall girls,did I mention that?
Dominic smiled back and said 'Everything's gonna be alright now,Senorita. Not to worry.'
'Let go.'
I snapped my head towards where that voice came from.Levi came rushing with his fists clenched and face with such fury...oh my sweet Jesus. Not another two bodies ending up at the hospital.
'It's really dark. I have to go sleep.' I said and walked straight inside the main door. 'It's my humble request that none of you fight.' I said before closing the door.
'You aren't in your room yet?' My dad asked from the living room. 'You better be on your bed this instant,young lady.' My mom added. Such anger. My lord. I ran till I was on my bed.
I shut my eyes real tight and began drifting off to sleep,trying to imagine that all this is just a dream. Does this happen to me alone?
