"We can't go looking for him now. JJ needs a doctor," said Hunter.
"The hospital is deep enough in the base,” stated PoopStain. “It should still be untouched."
"Wouldn't it be evacuated?" I asked.
"No. The hospital has to operate as long as it can in dark times like this," said the General. “Keeping people alive is their job, and they will do their job no matter what. Now let's go do our job.”
I look at JJ who is in extreme agony and I can't stand it. I wish it were me in his shoes instead.
"I'll help carry JJ," I offered.
"No,” advised PoopStain lifting JJ onto his back, “It will hurt him much more if two of us carry him. I'll do it myself.”
"Let's get going," urged the General.
I take a step on my wounded leg and an unexpectedly harsh pain shoots up my body causing me to fall. I yell from the pain.388Please respect copyright.PENANACJDuydN7vL
Bert runs over to me and helps me up and says, "are you alright Dylan?"
I look at a blurry figure that if I didn't know Bert's voice, I wouldn't have known who it was. I look around and notice it's not just Bert that's blurry, everything is.
"Dylan?" asked Bert.
"I can't see," I struggled to mumble as my vision gets worse.
Not only is everything blurry but my body feels heavy and the earth feels alive..
"What do you mean Dylan?” asked Bert.

I open my eyes and find myself in a room, seems to be a hospital room; with JJ in a bed across from me facing the wall. I look for anyone else but it's just me and JJ in the room.
"JJ," I called to see if he was awake.
"Yes?" said JJ.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"The hospital," said JJ with little emotion.
"What's wrong man?" I asked.
JJ takes his bed covers off his legs to reveal the damage. His legs are demolished and it’s clear he will never walk again.
"I'm so, sorry man," I said. “On the bright side you're alive.”
"You should have left me there Breaker," said JJ in that voice again.
"You would have died if I did that," I replied.
"Breaker, do you know what happened?" asked JJ.
"What do you mean," I asked.
"PoopStain, Reznikov, Alfeo and Bert. They all died to save you Breaker," said JJ.
I don't want to believe him. But I sense nothing but truth behind his words. Their dead. And it's all my fault. Guilt floods my heart as it sinks deep into my gut.
"If I had my legs i'd kill you right now," said JJ.
"JJ, I-I didn't mean to," I said.
"You have always been a burden to the group. Never listening to orders, being reckless. It was your recklessness that got them killed!" snapped JJ.
"This isn't like you man," I said.
"Me and the others act like we like you so your feelings don't get hurt. But now I realize that you have no feelings. Your selfish and you put everyone around you at risk," said JJ.
"JJ you're awake," said Agent walking into the room.
"Agent JJ isn't being himself," I said.
"Don't talk to me," barked Agent.
I don't no how to respond, I don't understand what's going on.
"You are an asshole. The battle is over, I don't have to act like I forgive you anymore. You are a horrible person and a horrible friend," said Agent.
"Act?" I said.
"Yes Breaker. Everyone other than Sean and Bert actually hates you," said Agent. "And Bert is dead because of you,"
"I don't understand what I did!" I said.
"That's because your an idiot," said Agent.
I get out of my bed and limp out of the hospital. I need to talk to someone who actually likes me, so I look for Sean.388Please respect copyright.PENANAB3NOvLxLdO
I pass by Kyle on my way out of the hospital.388Please respect copyright.PENANAvvzSJpd6GU
"Kyle, have you seen Sean?" I asked.
A tear falls down Kyle's face and he doesn't respond. Grievance fills his eyes.
"What's wrong Kyle," I asked.
"He said that know one is ever there for him,” said Kyle staring into space. “He said you promised to keep him safe. Yet you're never there," said Kyle.
"Where is he! I need to talk to him," I urged.
"He killed himself this morning Breaker. And it's your fault," said Kyle softly.
"Kyle, I-"
"Just go away," interrupted Kyle.
I walked away from Kyle not knowing what to do. Everything around me just turned to hell. I couldn't save Sean like I promised and everyone just pretended to be my friend. This is a lot to handle. I have had that happen back at home, but I thought this time would be different. I thought theses guys were different. I felt a strong bond for the first time and it was fake.
I can't believe I didn't know from the start. I can usually tell when someone is bullshitting me. But they all fooled me. Every one of them. I must have gone blind to have been this ignorant.
"Why the long face son?" approached the good Wetherby.
"Im hated by everyone I thought was my friend, and I'm the reason so many people died," I said.
"Join me for a walk?" offered Wetherby in a peaceful voice.
"Do you hate me too?" I asked.
"Of course not, let's go," nudged Wetherby trying to be comforting. I still don't exactly trust him.
I followed Wetherby and he says, "I understand you and Bert were close. It must be hard to see him go."
"I've lost so much in my short life, that I can act like nothing happened. I act like I forgot them on the outside, but on the inside there faces haunt me like ghosts," I said.
Why did I say that outloud? I don't share my feelings especially with people I hardly know.
"Not many people your age can do that," said Wetherby.
I don't respond. I just look at him.
"Do you remember this?" said Wetherby pointing to a familiar object.
"General Sexy gave me my first punishment at this pole. Although it was more of a challenge. This is also the pole you had me tied to and whipped," I said.
"Actually that was me," said what sounded like Wetherby but behind me.
I turn around and see the other Wetherby; the bad one whose name I forget.
"Before you do anything else let me talk," said the good Wetherby.
"Why should I," I asked.
"They won't listen to you anyways. They all hate you. But they don't see what we see," said the bad Wetherby.
"What do you mean we?" I asked.
"You are clever and me and my brother could use you," said the bad Wetherby.
"Wait you're both working together?" I asked.
"It could be all three of us if you come with us. You won't have to worry about phoney friends or any of that," said the good Wetherby.
"It was you who killed Bert, Alfeo, PoopStain and Reznikov!" I yelled.
"What does that matter? They hated you," said the bad Wetherby.
"Not Bert. Bert and I have been friends for along time," I said.
"Didn't you think JJ was? Maybe Bert was acting too," said the bad Wetherby.
The good Wetherby hands me JJ’s engraved colt.
"How did you get this?" I asked.
"Doesn't matter. I'm giving you the choice. You can kill us, and have no one. Or you can come with us, and have a purpose," said the bad Wetherby.
I point the colt at the bad Wetherby and my head filled with thoughts. Remembering why I never trust people back at home. Remembering Berts face and how ill never get to talk to him again. I was just starting to form a bond with the others, but it was all fake. I just can't understand why.
I feel a wet substance falling from my face. I touch it with my hand and inspect it.
I start to chuckle.
"Are you laughing?" asked the good Wetherby.
"It makes sense now," I said pointing the colt to my heart.
"What are you doing!" asked the bad Wetherby.
"This is a tear on my face," I laughed.
"Just relax and don't do anything rash now. What's so special about a tear," said the good Wetherby trying to relax the situation.
"I can only dream about crying," I said pulling the trigger of the colt pointed at my heart.
