“Ah, FN 187!” He said, as I moved to sit on a chair across the desk from him. “I have heard much about you from you’re superiors in the education program. Top in the class they tell me. So I’ve called you here to give you your first assignment.” He passes a chip across the table. “This will give you all the information you need to know. I’ll be expecting your report by the end of this day.” He said, motioning to his guards, who soon lead me out, as I grabbed the chip before going to the next person on the list.
Outside, I took out my tablet and plugged the chip I had just been given into it. As the tablet began to boot up, I heard to holoscreen on a nearby building light up. “BREAKING NEWS: Due to recent rebellions, along with the discovery of traitors among the regime higher ups, Immortal Father has announced that he is starting a new purge among the residents, and staff to find and weed out traitors. Those who are found guilty of Aczosticism, will be sent to labour camps indefinitely!” With that, th holoscreen shut off again.
Perhaps I should explain, Aczosticism is an ideology built by man only going by Aczostic, from the Oder days of the regime, which promotes freedom, and individualism, over the regimes oppression. The old leaders saw this as a threat to their growing power, and soon made it a criminal offence. The man claiming to be Aczostic was later publicly executed, shortly after the first purge. Afterwards, there were many more purges across the galaxy as the regime spread.
Now, people were beginning to move off the streets as police began to weed through the crowd. I quickly escaped to a nearby cafe, where I checked my tablet. The assignment seemed to be your standard serial killer. Seen multiple time throughout the history of the regime. The only thing that stood out was the location. The only place it listed was the Ovnorak slums, which was an area on the outer rim of the planet, which was once devastated by war. I haven’t seen much of it, as i mostly styles in the main cities, during the time I spent on Ovnorak.
With my location set, I soon set off towards my apartment, where I tethered my stuff, and looked for transportation to Ovnorak. After an hour, I found some affordable transportation, and was on my way to the space dock. The trip to Ovnorak took another hour before I we landed on the planet. I tried to make small talk with the pilot, but the Araket, the tentacled alien who flew it don’t seem to speak my language.
Once I landed, I found a small hotel where I could sleep, and looked for transportation to the slums. Eventually settling for an expensive hover-taxi. Transportation to the slums is expensive due in most part to the dangerous terrain, and warring gangs, so most of it is manned by aliens who are highly marginalised by the regimes society, and thus have a harder time finding regular jobs. Now, with a red, humanoid, crustacean-like creature as driver, I was finally on my way.
