ZN-990’s POV:
With that, he was gone, and I was left too my thoughts. Soon, I returned to the old, abandoned warehouse which I now used as a home. Since it was due for demolishment in a few days, all cameras, and microphones had already been removed from the area, but it also meant that I couldn’t stick around much longer. I had been shopping around several smugglers, and black market dealers for help, but most said it was too risky to flee the planet too an area, they didn’t even know existed.
While I thought through my plan, I decided to read through the chip that FN had given me before heading off too re education. To begin with, it told the story of the rise of the regime, after hundreds of years of war throughout the ulm system, through interplanetary conflicts, and outside invaders. By the end of it, the citizens were sick of the conflicts, so when the regime claimed that it would bring peace through “any means necessary” it gained popularity quickly. When it gained power, it moved all operations to focus on war, causing mass famines, a cross all controlled worlds. After restating the ulm system, the regime made a push to the outside, and began several successful campaigns across the galaxy. However, due to limited travel, it is impossible to know how many systems it claimed.
It then talked about the system with the regime, and the pyramid system of classes, which determines the amount of surveillance you receive. At the top, is Immortal Father, who recieves no surveillance. Than was the politicians who receive lots of surveillance, than the military, and police typed who still receive lots of surveillance, than was the working class., like me, and FN. They receive less surveillance. Finally, there were the slummers, who receive very little surveillance. Aczostic explains that he knows this, because he was once apart of the first level. Once laying home too a council, rather than a singular dictator figure, until one gained to much power, and overtook the others.
It than said that it will talk about the possibility of revolution, and how it could be achieved in his next work, which has been lost to time. Sighing, I hid the chip away in one of the cabinets that were still lying around the old warehouse. Then, I snuck out again, past the few police areound The warehouse, and set out to meet up with another smuggler, who might be able to help my cause. I made my way to a nearby black market site, far out of the regimes current surveillance net.
My first major proble, is that I didn’t know where these “Free Worlds could be”. In order to find this out, I searched through hundreds of maps, from different sources, and tables that show which systems with the lowest level of surveillance. From this, I found that several systems hav e no information about this, despite the fact that the regime claims control over them, and that they were the closest to the ulm system, and would’ve been the first to be conquered.
With the initial investigation completed, now I needed to find someone to take me there. With the small amount of money I had gotten from the underground's activities, I continued shopping around smugglers for help. Still, none of them were willing to help an untested idea, on such a low budget. Eventually, I found someone who seemed interested in my idea. He told me to meet him by the capitol building on Ovnorak tomorrow, so we could make a deal. I returned to the old warehouse, confident hat my place would come into fruition.
The next morning, I found transport down to Ovnorak, and made my way through the growing military presence on the street, due to the growing purge. More and more people were being dragged out onto the streets, due to the discovery of The Underground. I felt Kina guilty, since I knew many of them weren't eve rebels. Eventually, I arrived at the capital building. It Wass a massive, misshapen building, with huge stain glass windows, surrounded by a man-made lake, with four small bridges leading to it. I arrived at the meeting point, just out of sight of the police, military, cameras, and microphones, and waited for my contact to arrive.
