Hearing the bang of the fire escape exit door behind them, Tian Yin and Su Mo both whirled around to see an enraged Tian Yu. A worried Zhi Xun was holding onto his hand anxiously. Tian Yu and Zhi Xun had been engrossed in the heat of their passionate kisses in the special VVIP access corner of the ballroom, which was only accessible with a premium access card that belonged to Zhi Xun, before they were interrupted by Tian Yin and Su Mo's heated conversation.
Su Mo had grabbed Tian Yin. "Cherry, do you not recall our moments together in Bali?" he had demanded. He had sounded so emotional that she didn't know whether he was angry or just hysterical.
"I told you I can't remember anything. You already asked me for three times. I just got drunk in the bar and woke up in my own room. I can't even remember the man I danced with. As my mentor and superior, you're intruding in my personal space and bringing up things that are inessential to work," Tian Yin responded, averting his gaze. It didn't take a genius or a PHD student to know that her mentor was actually in love with her. When three months ago, she joined Su Amore and became an intern, she had felt that Su Mo had been watching her carefully. Before this, she had only seen him once at Bali, before waking up strangely, naked and to a body that no longer felt like her own. While she was mad at Tian Yu for having left her all alone for three days and his suspected cheating on Zhi Xun, she felt there was nobody she could blame for her situation. She had always loved to drink, and she had reaped the consequences of her own actions. But when she left her brother and returned to N City on her own, she decided she had control over her own life. She would no longer be a little lamb that acted the way her family, particularly her brother, wanted her to be. She went on and took a bank loan with the help of a relative, and went on the route of a fashion designer. To date, she was now assistant designer to Su Mo himself.
Su Mo had been really nice to her, mentoring and leading her well but she had always felt that there was something unusual about him. Despite that she felt they had a connection, she was loyal to Fang Qi. He had accepted her 'change', which was her true nature surfacing after the Bali incident. While Su Mo had tried to tell her a few times what had actually happened, it was useless. She couldn't even remember where she got drunk, and assumed it was the bar because she had remembered partying with Su Mo, but she had no recollection of when she had left the bar and went for a stroll on the beach. Luckily for her, she was on her safe period, and not ended up pregnant, or with a STD. She was finding it hard to believe that the man who had taken her virginity was Su Mo. Perhaps he had just made it up because he liked her?
She assumed he had liked her because during a meeting with a client, she had 'saved the day' with her designs. The client had been very pleased with her works, and she had scored a contract with the client for Su Amore for a line of production of garments which the client would sell in their boutique stores. In addition, the client had treated them to a round of drinks and also introduce some of her associates to them. After drinking together, Tian Yin had ended up drunk and had ended up kissing Su Mo unintentionally, but nothing happened between them. It was Su Mo's own wishful thinking that he would be able to eventually gain her heart.
Today was the day of her engagement to her childhood friend and classmate Fang Qi, and out of courtesy for being her mentor, she had sent him an invitation to the party. She had invited Zhi Xun along, and Zhi Xun brought along her partner, whom she only knew that Zhi Xun was having a sexual relationship with. Fang Qi had been with her for three years following the Bali incident, and he didn't care whether she had been a virgin or not, as he had been involved with a number of girls before they got together. He told her he liked her change, and she no longer needed to hide her true self. Being childhood friends, he had suspected she had a different side to her, which was evident to him when she had got drunk during the camping trip with him and kissed him boldly. After dating for two months, he introduced her formally to his parents, who had only known of her existence from the words of their son, and they readily accepted her. A month later, they made love for the first time. Finally after three years, she was engaged to her first love, which she decided would be her final love. They had also got along so well, having something in common.
Tian Yu's superman punch had resulted in a battered and bloodied Su Mo. Had the girls not stopped him, he probably would have killed Su Mo for the Bali incident.
Zhi Xun's words had been effective. "Stop it, Dear! If you kill him, then you'll be put behind bars, and what about me? It's your sister's engagement, at least give them some face." Dear. It had sounded so long since she had greeted him this way, more than three years ago when they were in an actual relationship.
He withdrew his hand, and glared at Su Mo with a killer's look in his eyes. "Very well, I'll let it go temporarily, but if you lay a hand on or bother my sister again, I promise you won't see the light of day, ever again."
Su Mo slumped to the floor, falling on his knees. He knew that even if he begged Tian Yu or even did anything he could for Tian Yin, she had no memory of the incident. Even if she did remember, she was now someone else's girl. If there was someone to blame, it would be his own fault for leaving her alone in her suite after taking her wildly on the beach, and not being there for her when she woke up in pain. He felt the pain of the love he had but was not able to get.
"Now leave before I change my mind," Tian Yu told Su Mo, staring daggers at him. Despite all the emotions rushing through his mind at the moment, Su Mo hurriedly got up and rushed down the stairs, before Tian Yu could count to five.
"Let's go back inside," Zhi Xun said in a soothing tone to the siblings, but she had particularly meant to speak to Tian Yin in that manner. "Don't worry, Ayin. Now that your brother is back, we will take good care of you."
"I understand, Sis Xun," Tian Yin answered maturely. "I appreciate how you have been here all these three years for me. I'm no longer a little kid. I'm already 24, you know. But I am just curious, how did you two end up having that kind of relation?"
She looked quizzically at Tian Yu and Zhi Xun, and scrutinised them closely, as if the answer was written on their faces. The duo exchanged looks, but remained speechless. Tian Yin then answered, "How long has it been?"
"Almost two months," Zhi Xun replied confidently. "I.. I met him during my trip in Bangkok."
"Ahh, Bangkok, "Tian Yin said with an 'I know it all' smile. "No wonder you didn't contact me for so long. And I recalled you even extended your stay."
"Maybe," Zhi Xun said, before turning her gaze from the sister to the brother. Tian Yu remained silent, as he had not spoken to his sister for three years since she ran away. "Don't you have anything to say to your sister?"
Tian Yin watched her brother. She felt that while he still looked the same, her brother wasn't necessarily the same person. He looked a bit sad, compared to how uncaring and unemotional he had been in the past. She decided not to push him to speak to her, and instead called Zhi Xun to the side to talk, and whispered in her ear, "Do you think you'll get back together with him? After all, you're sleeping with him anyway. Will I...still have my sister-in-law?"
Zhi Xun contemplated Tian Yin's questions. "It's been three years, and I've only met him two months ago. Ayin, I really...I really don't know. What if it doesn't work out?"
"I understand," Tian Yin said in a sophisticated manner. "Whatever your decision is, I will support you as my older sister, okay?" She turned and walked to Tian Yu bravely to face him. "Brother, actually I don't hate you anymore, okay? I was just a little angry when I was at Bali...But after much thought, maybe..you didn't cheat after all."
Zhi Xun patted Tian Yin on the back. "I believe him."
Tian Yu looked at his sister. She had grown and matured so much, and in a number of months, she would be someone's wife. He felt that the rock in his chest had been lifted up and put down. "Ayin... I didn't expect.. that you will be getting married so soon..and to Fang Qi himself. As your brother, I can only wish that you find true happiness."
She nodded. "I wish the same for you and Sis Xun. But I really need to return to the party, Aqi might be looking for me."
As she walked past them and lifted the handlebar of the fire escape exit door to re-enter the hall, Zhi Xun promptly told her, "Your brother didn't cheat, and neither did I. We love each other, so don't worry. It's just a matter of time..we will resolve things..."
Tian Yu stared at her lovingly. He had to admit that he loved this girl, inside and out. But what did she mean by this? Did she really want to get back with him and resume their love story? If so, all the pain and struggles he had gone through had been worth it.
"What do you meant by what you just said?" he asked her, staring deeply into her beautiful eyes. "How do you plan for us to resolve things between us?"
Seeing her at a loss of words, he came closer, and took her in an embrace. "Are you admitting your feelings for me?"
Zhi Xun quickly said some excuses to defend herself. "Tian Yin is getting married, so of course I need to say some words to comfort her. It's her engagement."
"Oh, is that so?" He took his arms from her, releasing her from the hug and instead pushing her against the wall. "Let me find out for myself how true are the words you just said." With that, he put his lips on hers, indulging in the warmth of her mouth and her kisses.
She closed her eyes and kissed him back. She didn't have the answer for him now, but she knew that at this point, she could no longer hide her feelings for him. Not when she had realised his importance to her in her heart, after the whole accident thing.
When they returned to the party, they saw how Fang Qi showered Tian Yin with love, giving her his promise that he would love her for eternity. Zhi Xun's hand gripped Tian Yu's hand nervously. But fortunately, Su Mo was nowhere to be found. The engagement proceeded well, and they were now fiancé and fiancée.
............................................................................
A WEEK LATER
It was yet another Sunday morning, and Zhi Xun found herself starving. She sat up in bed, pulling up the blankets and smacked Tian Yu on his bare buttock. "Hey, lazybones. Wake up and make me brekkie!"
"You know that I only have today to rest," Tian Yu groaned as he dragged himself up. "Who was it yesterday who asked for a full service, after being stressed from work?" Zhi Xun blushed after thinking how she had demanded a sensual massage from the skilled Tian Yu, which had ended with a long night between the two of them.
"You have yourself to blame because I can't keep my hands off you," she teased, and he teased back, "That's because you're so sexy, that I want to do you again and again." He saw her blush, and then he added, "Because I love you, Xiao Xun. I really want to see you happy again. I will do what I can to get you, and I will let you lead a blissful life."
She was touched by his words, but words weren't going to fill up her stomach, his cooking was. Why did he only live at her place every Tuesday, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays? If only he was her live-in partner, she thought. She suddenly recalled how in the past, he had once asked her to move in with him, only for her to give him a broken promise that she would, once she settled things with her housemates, and then following that, she had used her exams as an excuse. It had been a few days after their third month anniversary that he had suddenly left her. What if she had accepted his offer, and lived with him? Would their relationship have taken a different route?
"I'm really hungry, Dear. What time can we eat?" she quickly asked, repelling her thoughts of the past. He climbed over her, gave her a brief kiss on her lips, and then headed to the bathroom. Watching his sexy nude figure pass by, she felt slightly aroused, but the soreness of her lower abdomen quickly reminded her she had to be patient. He took ten minutes to quickly wash up and brush his teeth, before dressing in a plain tee and shorts. "You can come out in ten minutes, my hungry babe." She dragged her feet to the bathroom in her half-asleep state and brushed her teeth.
As she washed her face and slipped on some wear-at-home clothing, Zhi Xun couldn't help but notice how distracting the sharp and prickly pain in her nipples were. Often, this was a sign that her periods were about to start. She had also been lightheaded recently, and she blamed it on the stress and anxiety that she was getting from being overworked in the office. Firstly, after Tian Yin's engagement party, Su Mo had strangely disappeared. As Su Mo had previously appointed her as a co-owner of the business due to him not having legacy planning, the responsibility now lay on her shoulders to maintain order and functionality in the office. Furthermore, the staff all looked up to her like a boss long ago, and at times, they feared her workaholic attitude. Of course, this all meant more work for her, and what could be a more efficient way of releasing all her stress and tension than sensual massages and sex from Tian Yu? She laughed naughtily at the thought, and how she would be able to enjoy his company and have her needs satisfied, by having him for the whole day. TGISU, Thank God It's Sunday.
She sat down at the dining table to wait for her meal, but when Tian Yu placed the plate before her, the smell of the sandwich had suddenly felt so offensive to her nose.
"Xiao Xun, it's your favourite, salmon club sandwich. I've also prepared one for myself," Tian Yu said with a smile, as he sat down beside her. She assumed she had just been starving too long so she had felt uneasy, and seeing the effort he had made in preparing breakfast for her, she was inclined to take a bite of the sandwich. She had just taken a few hearty bites, and when the salmon meat reached her tummy, she had never felt even a more revolting taste before in her life. Her tummy had been so uneasy, and she felt lightheaded.
"Excuse me," and she quickly ran to the nearest bathroom. He heard her throw up, and he was struck by concern.
"Xiao Xun, are you alright?" He pushed open the door gently to see her crouched over the sink, which held the remains of her sandwich.
"Xiao Xun, what's wrong? Are you sick?" he asked. Her cheeks were flustered, and she didn't look well to him. "I'll take you to the doctor."
"I'm fine," she said. "I must have caught a minor stomach bug from the lunch Shel bought for me yesterday."
"No," Tian Yu said firmly. "You're the most important person to me. How can I just stand by and allow you to continue throwing up like this? Even if it's just a stomach bug, you NEED to go to the doctor. I insist."
She knew it would be futile to continue arguing with Gao Tian Yu. He was so persistent that when he had his mind on getting her something, he would not stop until he got it for her. Especially with how lightheaded she was feeling, she couldn't be bothered to argue with him, and gave in.
"Fine. You drive," she said. He seemed pleased to have won the argument, and bundled her into the car along with her little handbag.
She thought of how she had lived with him in the past, and how he had rushed to her immediately with painkillers and paracetamol during her periods and headaches. Seeing how concerned he had been for earlier, she couldn't help but feel touched by his care for her.
