"What about dry humping? Since we're immortals, maybe our privates will wet themselves magically," Zhi Xun suggested.
Tian Yu stared at his wife as if she had gone mad. It was the fifth day of their honeymoon on Novoea, and they were sunbathing on the sands of the coastal region of the island. Who would have thought that she had wanted to sunbath topless on the colourful sands of Novoea? And those bewitching eyes and pearl-white skin was just..provoking him.
"Wifey, whether it's intercourse, fashion, magical theories or random thoughts off your mind, your imagination is endless," Tian Yu groaned as he tried to focus on the other sights of the coast. He could feel his member stiffening, and since attaining immortality, it had caused him much more discomfort for his much-bigger member to stay aroused. Sure, he could use magic, but that was just a temporary solution. His wife would end up doing something arousing without realising the effect it had on him. Whoever said immortals did not possess seven types of feelings and six types of lust (qi-qing-liu-yu) was simply lying.
She pouted, then flipped herself and lay on her stomach. Tian Yu heaved a sigh of relief to see that her buns were now covered from his eyes. Fortunately for the two of them, as immortals they didn't have to be concerned about any outsiders appearing on the beaches, since they were after all, endowed with magic powers. The problem would be solved with one mere flick of their fingers.
Out of the corner of his eye, Tian Yu saw a green coloured wisp of smoke sweeping downwards, headed for the mortal realm. "Did you see that?" Zhi Xun exclaimed. Every immortal had different skills and powers. Tian Yu had been particularly sharp in anticipating future events. Their heightened senses as well as their sixth sense had allowed them to be particularly aware of impending doom. Donghua had been considering appointing them as the Sky Kingdom's mortal world constables in disguise, once they were ready. The positions resembled closely that of the tutelary deities in the past, only higher in position. Immortals who did not assume scholarly positions within the Sky Kingdom would only be considered for the role. Most newly-appointed immortals without any potential for improvement would be immediately given a scholarly or martial position within the Sky Kingdom, where they would continue working with slow career growth due to their role being spoonfed and comfortable. None of these lazy officials whom also lacked initiative, would consider stepping out of their comfort zone to consider upgrading their own skills.
"Is that a bad omen?" Zhi Xun asked Tian Yu. "I suppose we could talk about it with Dijun once we get back," Tian Yu said. "We only have one more day of leisure before we have to return." Zhi Xun nodded. "The solitude and the scenery here is lovely, but there's a lot we have to do when we get back," she said. She was mainly concerned about her homework and how she was going to catch up with studies, considering her struggling grades. She knew that they had their leave applications approved because of their special connection with the DongFeng couple, and how they were once, part of their shadows, till the immortals had all contributed a portion of their cultivation to allow them to be reborn as mortals. Until they had achieved immortality, the DongFeng had owed Zhi Xun and Tian Yu some kind of debt of gratitude for 'giving' them the fate that had meant to be hers and Tian Yu's in the first place. Of course, the main offender had been Su Moye, but this debt had been repaid in full by their immortalisation.
They headed to the markets to buy some magical accessories, and Zhi Xun was pleased to see a few pearly bracelets on sale. She liked to buy simple jewellery, which she would keep in her collection cupboard in their quarters in Qingqiu. However, she noticed that Tian Yu was looking distracted, presumably from the green wisp of smoke earlier. While she knew from her studies that the green wisp was a mark of evil and impending doom, it had to be no ordinary evil that was causing Tian Yu to look so troubled.
............................................................................
When they reported the green wisp of smoke a few days later to the heavenly couple, Zhi Xun had noticed that Fengjiu looked extremely concerned. "Husband, are we able to identify where the green smoke is headed to?" The Death Mark of the Ghoul Clan. They had returned, after having been believed to be wiped out more than 50,000 years ago when Qingcang was destroyed, Fengjiu thought. But why was it headed towards the mortal realm?
"The Miaohua Mirror will tell the answer," the normally silent god suddenly spoke. "There are thousands of worlds in the mortal realm, and only by using the mirror, are we able to know."
Fengjiu bade the younger couple goodbye, before vanishing with her husband to the Sky Kingdom. She had to alert the immortals in the Sky Kingdom, among them her aunt Bai Qian, her uncle Yehua, and her cousin Ali. Hopefully, they would be able to seek help in combating the apparent force of evil that threatened the mortal worlds.
They returned to Qingqiu, and spoke to Jielu, who was playing with the latest immortal-console. Seeing the couple arrive, Jielu logged out of her League of Immortals game and invited them to enjoy the tea she had just brewed.
Their relationship had been rather complicated, since Jielu had only heard of the existence of their former lifetimes. Since her birth, Jielu had been told that it was a taboo not to even speak of Aranya's name. It was said that because of Aranya's love for the seasons excluding winter, Chen Ye had magically severed the other seasons with his sword and caused Fanyin Valley an eternal life of winter. However, when Fengjiu had accidentally fell into the Valley from the mountains above and ended up entering Aranya's Dream, the magical dreamscape conjured by Chen Ye, unintentionally when she attempted to steal the Saha fruit, she had then learned of Aranya's existence from the queen herself. Due to her blood ties with Aranya, she was assigned to take care of Zhi Xun and Chen Ye while they were in Qingqiu.
"Did you want to talk about Fanyin Valley, or Qingqiu?" Jielu asked pleasantly.
"We would just like to understand how you were previously sent on a mission to the mortal world," Zhi Xun said. "I know it's really difficult on you all these years, having the burden of the remaining clansmen on your shoulders."
"I'm glad I have my life," Jielu said in a mature voice. "I just know, all the sacrifices my family made was not in vain. Did you know why I chose to go to Qingqiu?"
Zhi Xun shook her head. "There was a time, when my cousin fell in love with Queen Fengjiu herself. Of course, she hadn't known that the Queen was the person he was in love with, when he met her. She went by the name Xiaojiu, and everyone else called her Princess Jiuge. But we later knew that she wasn't the same person that my cousin envisioned her to be. Since he loved her at one point, I decided to bring my people to Qingqiu to honour his final wish."
Zhi Xun looked rather surprised. "Was Meng the son of the queen?" Jielu nodded to give her an affirmative response. "He was the second son of the queen." The couple looked at each other strangely, but then Zhi Xun continued to ask, "How was your mission to the mortal realm like? I heard in the process, you somehow developed some kind of amnesia. I hope it wasn't that bad."
Jielu smiled for a few seconds, recalling how she had been fated with a particular bird immortal while she was in the mortal world. "It's nothing. I just had to keep my guard up, and act like I was one of them. If you do go on a mission someday, just remember this. But perhaps it should be alright for you, since you came from the mortal realm yourselves."
The couple smiled and nodded. "Hopefully, it won't come up to this. Queen Fengjiu has already gone with the Dijun to seek help in the Sky Kingdom," Zhi Xun explained. "When we were on the coast of Novoea, we saw a wisp of green smoke. Queen Fengjiu suspects it to be a severe threat to the mortal realm it was headed for."
"Evil comes in all forms," Jielu said. "Of course, we have to keep our fingers crossed-is that what you call it in the 21st century?- and hope for the best. Better safe than sorry, too."
.....................................................................................
"I'll steal half a day of bliss," Zhi Xun said as they were doing their homework a week later. Fengjiu had not returned and it was Sunday, which meant they had to prepare for academy lessons the next day. Worse comes to worse, she would just repeat another year of the elementary level.
"That's what you say every time you get stuck with a question," Tian Yu remarked. It was ironical that she had been so successful in her career as the journalist and brand owner ZSyn, and yet when it came to academy studies, it had been too difficult for her, with the exception of the subjects she excelled and had interest in. Perhaps, mortal studies had been much easier. He recalled how he had been the house-husband during their mortal life, having to feed and look after the babies, do the cleaning and chores, run errands, cook and entertain her, while she became the main breadwinner of the family. He had brought in some income as well, but without having to do anything, as most of his companies involved virtual services, outsourcing and business services without the need for a physical location. Being a technical expert, a Jack-of-all-trades and a master of none, and a programmer, he had a variety of skills that he eventually found handy. He was also good with mathematics and excelled in academy studies. Zhi Xun had failed to realise he was actually a scholar with a honorary degree when he was in university. Everything had worked out fine for him once he became an immortal.
"Are you prepared for a calamity if one comes our way?" he asked Zhi Xun. "As I've recalled, you haven't mastered alchemy or the sciences, magical skills, or swordsplay."
Zhi Xun pouted her lips like a duck. "It's not fair that you fared so well as an immortal, and yet i'm stuck with all these bookish stuff. You know that when I was in university, I did literature and the arts, not technical stuff or theories."
"Yes, yes. I know. I know everything about you, honey. Your desires, your fetishes, your needs, your likes, your dislikes. Even the colour of your panties." She looked a bit irritated upon hearing the last words of his sentence. "Hey, that's private!" she yelled, and he silenced her with a kiss. "All the more I want to know."
She poked him in the ribs. "That's not funny! You're teasing me again." She humphed and turned away from him, apparently a bit mad from his teasing earlier.
"I'm sorry, my dear." He cupped her cheeks in his hands and kissed her tenderly, returning her smile to her face. "Fine, fine, I forgive you," she said. He held her tightly, and whispered in her ears, "I know you're bad at all these. That's why I'm here, as your husband. I'll love and protect you during our final lifetime. Know that you have me with you. I'm all yours, and I will do anything you need or want me to."
She wrapped her arms around him in an embrace. Even when immortal, his words were as sweet as honey. She was glad that she had him around. They were everything for each other.
