Tsunade broke apart the Ribcage Susanoo? Huh, when?
As always with Sakura fandom, there’s a tendency to use scans out of context to make her appear more powerful than she is. Here, Tsunade’s used to showcase that when Sakura took on Mangekyō Sharingan (MS) Sasuke, she should’ve defeated him … or something like that? Who knows what goes in this Fandom’s head. I’m only telling you what I’ve been seeing as this scan is brought up again and again ad nauseam to make an argument that, you guessed it, Sakura was robbed of a fair fight, you see.
Let’s look at the scan:
Unsurprisingly, this is completely removed from context: First, Tsunade took down a Ribcage Susanoo (Ribcage) that was being used by a Mokuton Clone, not Madara himself. And Wood Clones are impossibly weaker than the original body. Second, even then she didn’t do it on her own, but after six attacks that started from her first punch, then Mei’s two Suiton Jutsus, then a combined attack in which Ae’s body was made lighter by Onoki (Ae was using the Chop Attack which he’d used on Sasuke’s basic Ribcage version), and then her kick broke the Clone’s Ribcage Susanoo. So, please, can we stop with this Fan-Fiction that Tsunade broke apart any version of Susanoo on her own, literally any? She didn’t. She could barely crack the Ribcage Susanoo (literally the weakest version of this Ninjutsu) used by a Mokuton Clone, with her first punch when she was using the Released Byakugou Seal.
Let’s look at this in a step by step manner as I’ve been meaning to clear up this misconception for a long time:
First, Madara’s Mokuton Clone was using the Ribcage Susanoo when they all attacked and broke it. It was never the original body using the Ribcage.
Let’s begin this argument by showing that Tsunade (and by extension Sakura) can’t heal magically from serious injuries:
So the whole “if Tsunade and Sakura fell into lava or got hit by Amaterasu, they’d keep going!” is silly as heck and completely made-up Fanon.
This can be easily proven through the following examples:
It’s completely non-canon. There you go. All of them were fighting the Mokuton Clone using Ribcage all along. Also, can you see what’s happening above? Tsunade’s not even able to move when the real Madara stuck a sword into her. She’s literally paralyzed. It took her quite a while to recover from this, actually.
You still don’t believe me? Well, let me show you the whole sequence in a step by step manner: the Kages destroy the Clone’s Susanoo; the Clone speaks quite dramatically about hate; Tsunade punches the clone; and Gaara seals him. Then the clone is sealed:
^ See? Then on the next panel (577 10-11), this happened:
There you go. They took out a Mokuton Clone (which I’d refer to as a Clone only from here on out), not the original Madara.
Second, A Mokuton Clone is absurdly weaker than the Original. It’s simply more durable than a Shadow Clone (Kage Bunshin):
Sage Mode (SM) using Hashirama made several of these. Note that the Original Hashirama’s using Sage Mode (SM), not his clones. That will be an important distinction to remember later on (the SM marking around the Original’s eyes is a clear giveaway):
Hashirama sent out one Clone to fight Madara, and this is what Madara said:
Notice that Madara’s sitting down. In fact, he never gets up and absolutely destroys Hashirama’s Clone while sitting down like that the whole time:
He calls Hashirama’s Clone absolutely meaningless that offers no resistance and that Hashirama’s Original body holds the actual concentration of power! The reason for it is this image:
Shadow Clones and Wood Clones work on the same principle: Distribution of Chakra, which Madara confirmed. The chakra is divided like a network among the clones, so the Wood Clone is quite weak compared to the original. It’s not even a contest. So every Jutsu it uses would be just as weak.
Madara actually made five Clones for each Kage, and each Clone used one Susanoo:
^ See? And below, she throws down, not damages, a single Incomplete Susanoo that’s being used by a Clone. She can’t even crack a higher version used by a clone, let alone by an original body:
And she’s losing quite a lot of chakra as a result and coughing out blood after just breaking two Clone Susanoo’s Swords inside her stomach. She couldn’t even crack this version that’s used by a clone. All of them got utterly crushed by Clone Susanoos:
^ See, Mei took a punch and wasn’t obliterated as it’s a Clone Susanoo. Sasuke was able to break apart all of the thick stone pillars in the Summit Hall with a single hit from a Susanoo that’s a level below the one Madara’s using (Sasuke’s Susanoo is skeletal and has a light grey hue while Madara’s has a deep grey hue and a proper muscly shape):
(I’ve briefly touched up the difference in Susanoo shapes in this post.)
In the end, they end up using Onoki’s Particle Release to take care of all the weak Twenty-Five Clone Susanoos:
I’m sorry, but Tsunade’s never broke a high tier or a Ribcage Clone Susanoo on her own, let alone the ones being used by an original body. The above evidence should put this nonsense to rest.
Third, Tsunade couldn’t break a Mokuton Clone’s Ribcage Susanoo, without the combined attacks from Mei, Onoki, and Ae.
When Tsunade first punched a Ribcage (a Mokuton Clone’s Ribcage), she could just barely crack the front of it. Just barely:
Madara notices that she’s slower than Raikage with his Raiton Cloak on (MS Sasuke’s faster than his Raiton charged cloak without the Bijuu chakra augmentation that most refer to as Version 2 or V2). Then Madara uses a Katon Jutsu, and Tsunade’s so slow that she can’t even evade it.
It’s Mei who’s fast enough to intercept and counter Madara’s Katon Jutsu with two consecutive Suiton Jutsus. Tsunade’s just standing there … well, like a fool:
^ See, that’s why she broke the Clone Ribcage. It broke apart after her punch was followed by two Suiton Jutsus and the combined attack of Ae and Onoki. Then when she kicked it, it broke apart. She never broke it with a single kick. This also proves how poor her speed is.
Fourth, the Susanoo, regardless of the version, used by the Original is astronomically stronger and durable than one used by the Clone.
When the original Madara used the Ribcage on Tsunade, she was literally paralyzed for such a long time that she couldn’t even move; and Madara was moving around with her like his Susanoo was holding a kebab on a stick:
I’ve got no idea why the Byakugou lovers are under the impression that Tsunade and Sakura would be able to react to, heal, and shrug off anything thrown their way; however, Canon shows the exact opposite. Here, she can’t move, even though her Byakugou is active. I don’t know what sort of fan-goggles this Fandom has got strapped on, but this is literally the lowest Susanoo form; and this is how she performs against it.
Then she breaks apart the sword and uses it on the Susanoo, and … well, nothing happens to the Susanoo. Not even a visible crack:
She just disturbs its Aura a bit around the topmost bone, but she’s unable to visibly crack it. She fails to crack a single bone on the crystal-like structure. She’s practically fresh here. This isn’t even a tired Tsunade that fought against the high tier Susanoo Clones and supplied Onoki with chakra to destroy the twenty-five Clone Susanoos. This is happening well before that. Her seal is at max level here; she’s barely used it!
Madara uses a tiny Magatama that’s about as big as his head (forget the larger Magatama the Uchihas use with the higher forms of Susanoo) and shoots it at her, and she’s smashed into the stones with such force that debris flies all over the place.
The only other time a higher Susanoo broke apart (it was still being used by a Clone, by the way, ’cause the above happens after this stuff below, so they were fighting a clone all this time) was when Mei’s Lava attack was dripping off it and Ae’s Ration Cloak form was made faster by Onoki lightening him like he did above:
This Clone Susanoo had to be weakened by melting and other multiple attacks to break it in any manner, even in its weaker form.
So can we throw this Fan-fiction into the rubbish can already that Tsunade and Sakura would ever be able to take on any version of Susanoo and do anything of value to it? That’d be great.
