Sakura’s fast?! No, not really.
I think people need a little trip down memory lane. Many use this scan a lot to make a point:
It doesn’t mean anything as the Jubi’s hands are too damn big. Big enough to be larger than Perfect Susanoo:
The little dots in front of Susanoo are Sasuke, Naruto, and his clones. Here are two more images to drive the point home:
Kishimoto doesn’t exactly carry a ruler with himself to measure the height difference. He plays by the ear. It’s highlighted pretty explicitly in 610 and 611 where the Jubi in the former isn’t that big compared to Gyuuki and Kurama; yet in the latter, it’s so big that Gyuuki’s about as small as its eye:
It’s a perspective issue. The arm looks big as it’s approaching Sakura fast; and as I said earlier: Kishimoto doesn’t use a ruler for these things; however, you can get accurate impressions through few images.
Back to the topic. Here are the few instances in war that show that Sakura’s pretty sluggish:
1) When Jubi attacked, Sakura couldn’t even guard herself, yet Darui could. You can see the stone’s “impact mark” beside his hand. Sakura, on the other hand, straight up got hit in the face by the debris. Even Kakashi’s seen taking the guard posture:
2) She couldn’t evade the spikes when random grunt Shinobi were shown deflecting them using attacks. Kakashi had to carry her around everywhere (maybe that’s why people ship them when it outright promotes grooming?). She’s way slower than Neji, actually, who was deflecting countless spikes with Hiashi:
3) When the Jubi unleashed its clones, she made a really big punch that made a big explosion, and … stuff; but then, after taking an insulting dig at her mentor to impress Sasuke, she couldn’t evade the Jubi clone:
By the time she notices it, her teammates have already cleaned up the house. She’s so slow that she doesn’t even react to defend herself against one; yet Sasuke and Naruto react fast enough to defeat many of them:
4) When Kaguya changed the dimension, she was so slow that she couldn’t even save herself from falling down into the lava. Had Kakashi not acted in time, she’d have melted to death:
So taking a single scan and ignoring all others is a bit funny. Characters are only fast if they’re consistently fast. Plot does intervene at times to show the characters being faster/slower than they are (for instance, Naruto dodging Raikage’s Biju-chakra-fueled top speed was silly when he couldn’t dodge Ae’s normal Raiton-Cloak speed; furthermore, he was completely overwhelmed by the speed of every Jinchuriki that faced him when Bee wasn’t). Sakura doesn’t have any half-decent speed-feats in the entire manga; so can we stop this pointless argument that she can match Sasuke’s and Naruto’s (even Kakashi’s) speeds at any point in the manga? Frankly, Kakashi isn’t even fast. He’s decent, but he isn’t fast.
Her performance in Shippuden was pretty terrible, as well. A good example would be her beat down at Omoi’s hands. Naruto, despite not being in the Sage Mode (and Frog Sage Mode Naruto is nowhere near as fast as Hebi Sasuke who was dodging Deidara’s best multiple clay-bombs shockwaves … constantly!), not only was fast enough to take out Sai’s short-sword from the sheath but was also swift enough to deflect Karui’s sword:
Basically, Naruto stopped two of her attacks in a row while he simultaneously took care of Omoi, with Sai. Sakura, on the other hand, couldn’t do a thing:
She raised her punch and … that’s all she wrote. Really, that’s all that happened. I didn’t take out any scan here. She raised her punch and Omoi kicked her away; and unlike Naruto that got hit in the process of rescuing her (which didn’t change at any point in the manga save that one “heart” incident Sakura fans keep talking about), she wasn’t even fast enough to put her arms in front of her face to protect herself.
Granted, Omoi and Karui are Bee’s students, but Sai and Naruto aren’t particularly fast, either. Let’s not forget the fact that Kabuto’s buttocks knocked her out cold:
Citing that Chiyo and Sasori battle does no one any favors as the former literally controlled Sakura like a puppet throughout the course of the entire battle save a moment or two.
I’m not sure where these “Sakura’s so fast!” comments keep popping up from, but they’re completely non-canon and saying that “Kishimoto did her dirty!” is even more pointless as her poor speed has been a consistent factor since the start of the manga.
