Self-inserting. Projection. Seeking validations. Call it whatever you want. It’s all the same to me. They feel that they require the validation from Sasuke because they’ve associated their identities with Sakura’s character quite deeply. And when Sasuke rejects her, they feel that he’s rejected them personally and that they need her to be acknowledged by other attractive Uchiha men who hold a lot of history and status in the Naruto World. I don’t understand how clinging to good-looking rich men for recognition is feminism. It isn’t. And that’s what this whole thing is about. If you read Uchiha x Sakura fictions, you’d notice that Sasuke’s always either so Out of Character (OOC) that he’s barely recognizable or he’s bullied by other Uchiha men that he missed out on the best woman in the whole Naruto-Verse. And I’m thinking to myself, is this Sakura or the author talking? It’s so transparent that I don’t know what to say.
It’s the equivalent of 4-Chan posters living desperately through Naruto, only on Tumblr. To them, Sasuke’s got no right to set boundaries for himself against her constant harassment. He’s got no right to consent. He’s got to be taught a lesson through fiction that there are “better” men for Sakura than him. And … they can’t even see that they’re less angry about misogyny and more angry that their avatar was not entertained by any male character with a particularly well-defined history and status in Canon!
It’s nothing but their own insecurities that are front and center here. I’m going to copy-paste the contents of my post here. That should explain how I feel about this whole Uchiha x Sakura Pairings thing:
It’s projection and that’s very easy to explain:
Sasuke: He rejected her many times over. Sometimes politely and sometimes aggressively, which was his right. She decided to wear him down for sexual relations. He kept rejecting her even after sex and marriage. SasuSaku fans think that Sasuke doesn’t know what he wants when he made his feelings crystal clear several times for Itachi, especially Itachi, clan, and Naruto, too. Why would he throw aside his honor-bound goals for Sakura? I don’t believe for a second that they know a thing about Confucian Honor System that was imported to Japan and became an intrinsic part of their culture for generations to come. It’s the sort of cultural illiteracy that’s more abhorrent, less endearing.
Itachi: The one time Sakura met him (well, his 30% clone) in the forest with her team (Naruto, Kakashi, and Chiyo), he acknowledged everyone’s presence by calling out their names, all but hers. It’s as if she wasn’t even there for him. A non-entity. He gave her the coldest treatment out of any Uchiha who came across her.
However, ItaSaku shippers would swear to hell and back that he’d love her very much if they met, and that he’d remind Sasuke that he was very mean (?) to her and missed out on the best woman. Ladies, it’s Itachi we’re talking about. Let’s be real here. Why would he do this when he himself said that he didn’t care even if Sasuke destroyed Leaf despite the Kotoamatsukami’s “Protect Konoha” command that was active on his head throughout the entire duration of the fight? These shippers are probably the most embarrassing out of the bunch because they distort Itachi’s character so much that he’s not even recognizable. The character they write about isn’t Itachi. It’s the Itachi they want.
Obito: He only talked to her because he wanted her to stab the Rinnegan. She couldn’t do that. The second time he talked to her was that he wanted to save Sasuke.
We know for a fact that he always loved Rin because he reunited with her after death, too; so how does this pairing even work?
Madara and Izuna: Madara stabbed the black-rod into her, threw her away, and never bothered to even look at her again.
Izuna didn’t even see anything beyond clan and honor. A lot of Madara’s mistrust came from seeing things from Izuna’s eyes. Why would Madara and Izuna care for Sakura? They fought wars and wanted equality for their clan. Why would Sakura make them abandon that?
Shisui: He never knew she even existed. How does this pairing work?
Indra: He was someone who fought for his rights. Why would a fascist-village supporting, obsessive, and clingy woman like Sakura concern him even if she was transported back in time?
Let’s be honest with ourselves, all of these Uchiha men are good-looking, rebellious, and do their own thing. That gives these Sakura fans and shippers a power fantasy that’s rooted in misandry: that a man should throw away his ideology to please their avatar (Sakura) / them / women!
They don’t care that all these men have their own set of codes (you can agree or disagree with them, but that’s a different discussion) that they’re willing to sacrifice their lives for. They dedicate their whole lives to them. To these shippers, their ideologies don’t matter and should be abandoned in favor of romantic relationships, pointless acknowledgments to women, and elimination of men’s ideals or what they’re passionate about. Their codes are unimportant in the face of pleasing a romantic lover. That speaks of a deeper issue than shipping. It shows that they believe that men and their ideals are unimportant, and only women are intelligent and have all the solutions, even if a solution is presented through something as base as sexual gratification! It’s classic White Capitalist Feminist philosophy that I can’t stand behind. In fact, I can’t stand it!
To them, men’s ideals, struggles, and perspectives are without value and are unimportant as long as women aren’t forcefully pushed into their spheres to feel fulfilled, acknowledged, and catered to for no reason other than just being women. They talk about feminism, but they want special treatment, which is why they fix Sasuke and make him drop his quest for justice for the genocide of his whole race and chase after Sakura! They even make him disrespect his father and clan because they don’t understand cultural nuances. Say whatever you want about Fugaku, but he was fighting tooth and nail to protect the lives of his clan and people. He fought to his last breath to make sure they had equal rights. You can’t call such an honorable man petty. Most shippers don’t understand the profound burden this man had on his shoulders when his people were pushed to the outside of the village, their rights taken from them, and they stood at the door of destruction. And it … disgusts me when I see Sakura fans make Sasuke and Itachi disrespect their own father as if like it’s a hip thing to do in the name of classically cheap Hollywood love.
They fix Itachi and make him disregard even his love for Sasuke (the one thing that makes him slightly bearable and not an out and out psychopath) for Sakura’s love! In their eyes, familial love holds no relevance before romantic love and that in itself is a concept worthy of utmost condemnation.
They fix Madara and Indra and want them to stop caring for their clan’s well-being and play house with Sakura because, in their eyes, that’ll fix the fact that their whole lives were completely ruined in wars. They want Indra to stop fighting for equal inheritance rights (what Hagoromo did wasn’t admirable in the least as he gave away his entire inheritance, including the Bijuu, to his younger son and left with Indra nothing but shame) and play the role of a henpecked husband who wouldn’t concern himself with the fact that how his father didn’t leave him with anything, at all! I don’t know what kind of person Shisui was (it’s hard to ascertain a character from two dialogues, you know?), but given his circumstances, he wouldn’t have been interested in Sakura to the detriment of Itachi’s safety.
They want Obito to forget Rin because Sakura’s the better woman, apparently. Is this feminism where you have to put other women down to uplift another? I’m going to leave my sister’s crude joke here (because it’s funny): In their heads, they’re convinced that Sakura’s vagina will fix fucking everything! A man’s dying? Have Sakura fuck him. He’ll be good as new! Someone’s sick? Let him breathe from Sakura’s vagina. That’ll fix him. Someone’s dead? Let Sakura’s vagina do the trick. That’ll make him live again. A new disease is in town? Let Sakura emit trapped air from her vagina into the atmosphere. Everyone’s cured! There’s an energy crisis in the ninja world? Install Sakura’s vagina into the main power-grid to power the whole damn world! It gives out a constant output, too, so no bulbs in any house or toilet would ever fuse! A threat bigger than the Jubi has arrived? Have no fear! Have Sakura’s vagina eat the bijuu bombs or nukes and catapult them into the sun! I haven’t even listed half of the miracles it’ll performed. It’s not just a vagina; it’s a Jesus-vagina. It even walks on water without her legs!
