(Jackson ref, I'll add one for all the main characters!)
I spent the night attempting to bring Joy out of her depression. However nothing would work. I ended up having to leave her with the maids and their leader as I had training today. Beta Nigel showed up at my door half an hour earlier than usual, his expression seemed dark and brooding. "Princess." He mumbled as he escorted me to the training field, wolves gathered to watch from close by, people were often excited by a royal. Nigel had his black hair tied up, his blue eyes focused on me finally, he was ready to fight. I took a hair tie and pulled my long hair into a ponytail, it felt nice as it swished against my back. We stood opposite one another, my pale hands balled into fists, bright blue eyes narrowed in. I waited for his first move, Nigel had taught me never to make the first move, we had often had fights last for hours. But this time Nigel had something on his mind. His left fist pummeled into my side before I could get a grasp onto him, he was not going easy on me at all. I twisted my body to be under him, using my nails to latch onto his clothing and push him off of me. He flipped back onto his feat launching at me again, pinning me beneath him. "You think you are strong enough to be Queen? Think again!" I screamed out as he put too much pressure against my chest his wolf ripping out from him.
His hot breath fanned across my flesh, tears began to form from the pain alone. "Please! Think about this! I know you're angry but you must not take this out on others. Stop!! What would the Queen do if you harmed me?" I could feel the thump of his heart as he pinned me down, the sound of shock and terror from the audience reached my ears, suddenly a group of guards flooded the training field. "Nigel, please. Let me go. Think about your son." His snout moved to my ear, the beta's claws beside my head. "It is Beta to you bitch." In moments the heaviness of his wolf was thrown off of me, fur replacing the beta's fur. Whimpers and squeals erupted out of one of the two fighting wolves, the smell of blood reaching my nostrils.
Guards pulled me to my feet a medic checked me for cuts. "She's ok, he didn't hurt her much." My heavy eyes turned to where the fighting was. Jackson stood over Nigel, his wolf panting, blood pouring from a bite wound around Nigel's neck. It didn't take me long to realise Jackson was no longer in control, all guards and medics left my side scattering from their enraged prince. His snout pressed against my stomach a whimper of worry escaping him. "I'm ok, he didn't hurt me..I might have a bruise around my chest but I'm ok.. I don't know what got into him...He has always been so calm and collected." Jackson turned on his heals, eyes burning into Nigel while the beta male gathered himself limping towards the Castle.
In this moment I was grateful to Jackson, he truly loved me, however being near his wolf while mine was attempting to greet me was terrifying, if Jacksons wolf even caught a whiff of mine I'd be screwed. "Jackson stop. I'm fine." His large tongue grazed against my face, more wolf than man at this point. "I'll kill him for you." Jackson growled through the link. "I'd do anything for you..Be mine..Promise you'll be mine." The small amount of like I had for him vanished in that moment, I would not allow this childishness to continue. "No. Now get off of me!" He didn't instead I found myself on the floor once more, his thick wolf tongue cleaning my skin around my arms and stomach. "Can't you see that I love you so much? Don't fight this." My elbow slammed into his head sending him reeling back. "Ouch! Why the aggression mate?"
My foot kicked him as he attempted to pull me back beneath him. "Jackson!" I yelled out, scrambling to my feat. "You will not win acting like this!" His dark grey wolf circled me, waiting for my next movement, in his mind he had won the right to treat me in this way, he had saved me from another wolf. What more could he do to earn my affections? I didn't want to fight him, I wanted to get away, before he sniffed out my wolf who was trying her best to front. "I was only cleaning you Reyna.. I was only tending your wounds. No need to be so hostile! Come now, let me look after you." His eyes flashed with anger as I bolted towards the castle. I was fast but he was much faster. I could feel him descending onto me. A lion about to pounce onto his pray.
I just about made it to the gate, my heart racing. Seconds before he could grab me I slammed the black gate into his face, earning a whimper of defeat from the large being. "C'mon Reyna this isn't fair..Just let me love you." "NO!" I barked arms crossed over my chest. "Change back Jackson, I don't trust your wolf not to make a big fuss in the castle." His eyes grew cold, wolf stepping closer to the gate, menace vibrating from him. "You know I can break this down right? You can't command anything of me! I'll hunt you down if I want to." Spoilt brat! I turned away from him running into the castle, I could hear him smashing into the gate as I ran from him. "Jackson stop please! I don't want to play with you! Will you just respect my wishes and leave me alone!"
"All I want is to check you for wounds! Why do you have to be so DIFFICULT!! I'm running out of patience Reyna..Just stop running away you know I'd never hurt you. I don't understand why you are making such a big fuss over this!" I made it to the foyer, but the sounds of crashing could be heard close behind. "I was already checked over! I've had a bad day I just want to rest, you can't always get everything you want!" Arms wrapped around me, the sound of her sickly sweet giggle caused me to freeze. "Are the two of you playing nicely? I heard about what happened with the beta...Are you alright? I promise he shall be punished accordingly." I couldn't move from the Queen's embrace, terror icing up my veins. "It's fine mother." I mumbled, "I just need some rest. If you don't mind I'm going to go take a nap." She stopped for a moment inhaling my scent, her stillness caused my heart to stop, had she sensed my wolf?
"Alright then sweet heart, come along son we have business to attend to." He nodded clearly saying something through the link to the Queen, looking between the two of us before huffing and turning towards the exit. I took a breath as soon as she was gone from my view, running along the corridor until I made it to my bedroom. If he had sensed me, If she had..Well I would never be able to escape. It was clear that I'd need to be careful from now on. Only a few more days until Kain came back with his answer, could I wait that long? I guess I'd have to. I wonder what had caused Nigel to snap at me today? Was it because of Joy? Things had been weird since my wolf appeared, I seemed to be bringing out the worse in people.
