"Your Majesty?" I enter Bergamot's bedroom and sigh. The room was neat, although the bed was unmade, and at his desk, was a small bouquet of wildflowers, a gift from Cardamon. Alongside the flowers, a growing pile of scrolls, sent by other nobles, were not read. The window beside the desk, however, was open. 293Please respect copyright.PENANAVLCQAXTHLz
"His Majesty must've climbed out of the window, and is wandering the castle grounds." I think, leaving the bedroom, and setting off to find him. Along the way, I bump into Cassia and Clove, both carrying small presents from Cardamon, to Bergamot. 293Please respect copyright.PENANAZfZCsOrRuO
"Hey Chicory," Clove smiles. "Is His Majesty in his room? Cardamon wanted me to leave this there." I shake my head.293Please respect copyright.PENANADfCLeOQIyg
"His Majesty isn't in his room," I explain, and both elfmaids give me questioning looks. "He climbed out the window and is wandering the castle grounds as we speak. Can you help me find him?" I ask. Cassia and Clove nod, sitting the gifts against the wall, and we set off, searching the castle grounds.
After hours of searching, we find Bergamot, in the castle garden. He's sleeping, his head in Cardamon's lap. Cardamon raises a finger to her lips as we approach, using her other hand to stroke Bergamot's long, messy hair.
"Bergamot was sleeping when I found him," Cardamon explains, lifting the hair off of Bergamot's neck, revealing faint scales.
"Cool!" Cassia said, and Clove gave her a quieting glare.
"Shh!" Clove murmured. "His Majesty is sleeping." Cardamon glances at the two elfmaids.293Please respect copyright.PENANAc0AHXcRVI7
"Are the presents..." Cassia gave her a nod. Cardamon picks up Bergamot, holding him the way a groom would carry a bride.
"Well, let's head back to the castle," Cardamon said softly, walking back to the castle. Cassia, Clove, and I set off after her, trying to keep up with Cardamon's quick stride.
