We're meeting at Sis Tun's Cafe , a regular hang out place of Architecture students from every year. Phi Mil often comes here to lend Phi Tun a hand. Thats why , i always stop by after classes. Even on days i don't crave anything , i still order a drink so that i can be with him longer
I have no idea what my friends think about this , but i guess they're all used to it
"Did you wait long?" Phi Mil greets me , standing by the entrance. I quickly get up , grab my backpack , and walk towards him
"Not at all. Hungry?"
"Yeah , hurry up. Stoping wasting time." He frowns , but it just makes him look cuter
"Let's use my car. I'll give you a lift on the way back."
"Good , my car gets to save fuel." Phi Mil turns around and walks out , but then he scratches his head , asking me mumbling "Where the hell is your car? Lead the way?"
"Its parked in your heart."
"Fuck off."
"Urghhh , just play along with me." Its probably as Sarawat siad. Phi Tine was also like this when he started hitting on him. Every pick up line got cussed at. It sometimes worked , and sometimes didn't depending on their moods
Since we're going to watch a movie , we have dinner first at a nearby restaurant. The meal isn't special or anything , just another meal like the other days before. We order one dish for each of us and one to eat together.
"Phukong , did you buy the tickets?" Phi Mil breaks the silence after a while
"No. I wanted to ask for your opinion first. I think a romantic movie would be nice. Phi Tine said it's good." Please let me just use your name , Phi Tine , nobody said anything of that sort to me , i made that up just now. But Phi Mil shakes his head
"A romantic movie? You and I?"
"What do you wanna watch , then? It's up to you." He doesn't refuse. He picks up his phone and looks a the list in movie app , then he reaches out to show me a new poster on the screen
Uh Phi Mil , how am i supposed to find a chance to ask you out after watching a horror movie?
"You really wanna watch this?" I ask , praying he'll change his mind , but my hope gets crushed in a split second
"Yeah , will you watch it or not?"
"I will."
The food tastes bitter
I didn't check what the time was when we left the restaurant. All i know is we argued for quite some time over who would pay for the meal. We both tried to show off. Phi Mil said he had to pay since he's older while i was willing to pay because i desperately wanted to take care of him. It all ended when the waiter said we could go Dutch
Will our love life be okay?
The atmosphere in the theatre is the exact opposite of what i imagined. Phi Mil is into brutal stuff huh? He gets excited every time a zombie charges and the main character slashes it with a sword , blood splattering everywhere. How will i find the strength to ask him to be in a relationship with me after this? I'm scared he'll shove a straw into my eyeballs because he's too excited
It isn't all that bad though. At least , i get to spend time with him , sneaking a glance at the profile of the one fixating on the movie. Its as what Sarawat said ages ago , for that one person... they don't need to do anything and we already love them for all that they are.
The movie ends beautifully after two hours and ten minutes. The main characters survive at the end , same as the other one i've watched. Phi Mil and i head to the car. After we get inside , the silence is broken by our conversations and the songs playing along.
"I didn't put too much thought into it when i chose to watch the movie. It was better than i thought." Phi Mil says with a smile on his face , eyes out the window.
"Im glad you like it."
"Which scene is your favorite?" Shit....
"Dunno , i didnt watch it."
"Dickhead , you didnt sleep , how can you not know?" Phi Mil turns to me with his flawless face , frowning. I can't help but smile amusedly
"You noticed i ddin't sleep?"
"By accident."
"Liar." He presses his lips together like he wants to fight back , but no words slip out. I quickly explain " I don't know because i was busy watching you."
"Are you crazy?"
"No you're more beautiful a sigh."
"Don't invite me next time , it's a waste of money."
"Whoa... you don't wanna watch any more movies with me?"
"this song fucking sucks."
HE changes the subject out of the blue and reaches out to change the song , still frowning. We both fall into silence. When we make a turn into the university , i start speaking
"When we've reached your car , will you go anywhere else?"
"Where else will i go? I'm going back to my room" Phi Mil loves hanging out with his friends at bars, but i don't mention it , afraid i'lll get kicked in the face
"Text me when you're home. No , a call is better."
"Don't wanna waste my money."
"But i'm worried about you."
"Clingy."
"Call me when you're home , okay?"
"Okay."
"You're cute." He's never seriously said no to me. I really can't help it "Phi Mil..."
"What?"
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
I can't help but tell him my feelings
"Fuuuuuuck." He cusses immediately
I know well what im doing right now. The timing is a bit ridiculous. We were chatting aimlessly , no specific topics , no building up the mood. All i know is that my feelings were asking me to follow my heart
"I'm serious. It's not a joke."
"It's so sudden. What am i supposed to say?" Phi Mil looks like he's panicking. I fucking love his expression right now. If i wasn't driving , i'd take a photo to stare at later.
"There are two answers yes or no."
"...." He's gone quiet for a moment. I don't want to rush him , though. I make a turn into the Architecture faculty's parking lot. I'm fine even if he does not give me an answer no. We still have time to wait and develop our relationship
I stop the car once we've reached the destination. Phi Mil unfastens the seatbelt but doesn't get out of the car.My heart's beating so fast , as if expecting to hear something from him
"I'm leaving." He says finally
"Okay."
"If you're free tomorrow evening , let's play football together."
"I'll definitely come since you've asked me."
"Um. And about what you just asked , i have an answer now."
"...."
"We can give it a try."
"Say that again."
"Let's try going out. If it doesn't work , we'll try to adjust or whatever."
His expression , his actions , and his voice at that moment , i will never forget it no matter how long time will pass. It's fucking simple but it feels incredibly special in my heart
He's my sunshine.
And i know now
Nobody can ever own the sun , but we can be a part of it , just like other beings on earth that live off sunlight
