I've always thought Scrubb songs can tell our stories in each moment. Like Close its the first song that made Tine and i start adoring each other. And then , we gradually plunged deeper into our feelings until there was no going back. Deep represents our story at that time
I still dont know what song defines our current situation , though , but i believe i'll find the answer someday
"I heard Tine's birthday is this Friday."
"Where did you hear that?"
"Fong told me."
The pol Sci's canteen at noon is packed. It actually doesn't matter where we have lunch since every canteen is crowded anyway. Tine and I rarely eat together on weekdays because we have fewer basic courses and focus more on the courses of our faculties. We hardly have time to see each other even though our buildings are just a few steps apart
But we're fine with that. We get to spend time with our friends. No need to cling to each other all the time. No need to keep each other posted every second. Tine and i know how far we should keep our distance to be happy , or how far that distance will make us sad. It took us quite a hile to find our common ground
And this is the benefit of keeping some distance. At least i now have time to ask for my friend's advise
"I'm thinking about what present i should give him."
"What did you buy him last year?" Boss asks curiously. I usually don't tell them what i do fo Tine on his birthday , wishing to keep it as our memory. But now im short of ideas , so i hope the guys can help me this time
"I sang for him and gave him a birthday card."
"That fucking sucks." I knew they'd knock me. Who would go overboard like them? They all flirt with girls together like a mob , so close to hiring a folk band to perform for the girls
"I like to keep thing simple , not too dramatic or over the top."
"I suggest you surprised him in the auditorium."
"Only a moron can come up with that." I shake my head at Themes's idea Our levels of simple must be totally different. How the hell is a surprise in the auditorium simple?!
"How about this? Tie a bow around your body and give yourself to him as a present." I thought Theme had the worst idea , but Big is ten times worse
"Im serious dude."
I feel so uneasy that i end up losing my appetite. I put the spoon and fork together , and concentrate on thinking about an idea with the guys. I wasnt this anxious when i took the final exam
Its just like those days , when i was hitting on Tine with several methods
"Say you love him on IG."
"Hold on , it'll take him two years to type it correctly."
"I can translate it." Tee the Translator offers , but this kind of surprise is not what i wan. Man , who has been thinking for a while , finally breaks the silence
"Just buy him a bouquet."
"I was thinking about that. What flower should i buy?
"Corpse Flower."
" I wound't get to give Tine that flower. You'd have to bring it to visit my grave instead." This fucker needs to stop joking. Did i make the right decision to ask for their advise?
"List , Wat."
"Nah , im tired." I shake my head , fed up with this bullshit and continue eating. Boss speaks again after a while
"You sang him a song last year , right?" He asks , frowning and i nod "Sing for him again this year , but it'll be more impressive because you will start earlier , days before his birthday."
"I have to go to that extent?"
"Its so that Tine can feel that beside his birthday , other days are also important." The rest of the guys nod in agreement. Well , it sounds pretty good. What should be the first song i'll play? Its less than a week until is birthday
If you ask Troublemaker what he likes , the list will be full of songs from his favorite band
"Thanks a lot , dudes. I know what song i should play for him."
"What is it? Spill."
"Scrubb's songs."
"Have you two ever thought about moving on from Scrubb? You know new bands are formed every day right? And there a millions of hit songs around the world."
"Im not sure what everyone else thinks."
In my memory , the bond between me and my significant other is embraced by this band. When we met , when i drowned in longing , when we got to meet again , we went through good and bad times until we had the chance to be together , just like now.
No matter how long , it's still special
