No. Nuallis stared in horror as the blonde swung at the stranger. I must stop them before they kill each other.
Nuallis let her energies flow, the air chilling around her. She faced her palms towards the shattered ceiling and let the moisture in the floor below dance as watery tentacles. They hardened to ice around the ankles of both combatants. Cordis, whose attack was interrupted, swung awkwardly as his feet were glued to the floor. He hissed a curse at himself.
Moryuu, however, freed himself immediately, the sheets of ice thin due to less water being around the lightning god. With one tonfa, he knocked the blade of the scythe away, and with the other he sent to crash against a hand, knocking the weapon out of his opponent's grasp.
"Don't hurt him anymore," begged Nu from above, "Please!"
"I'm not going to," said Moryuu, exhaustion, and injury making him sound annoyed, "I'm not going to kill the bastard." Either way, Moryuu seemed to prepare a strike aimed for the blonde's jaw.
"Are we good?" Moryuu asked, still watching his opponent closely.
The viciousness left his ever-changing eyes, and Nu hoped Jayden had returned.428Please respect copyright.PENANAIBpexB7No7
"Yeah ..." said Jayden, abashed.428Please respect copyright.PENANAsO688h5GIz
Moryuu relaxed at this confirmation. Nu let the icy fingers melt from Jayden's ankles.428Please respect copyright.PENANAf0M0Hu4Uct
For a moment she thought they would have the slightest sliver of peace. Then the roaring came. Not just one, but it sounded like hundreds. Angry and hungry beasts that most likely were not Umbra. The red sun bled all over the destroyed floors of the apartments.428Please respect copyright.PENANABWKYVkhgwJ
"What now?" asked Vandal, reloading his long gun.
"Nothing good," said the man in the yellow shirt, waving his arms about "nope, nope, nope. Everyone, make for the emergency exit. Quick—"
Something crashed through the window on the safe room's floor where Nu and some of the others stood. What was it? A ball of leather? It had short yellowish spikes sprouting from it as it rolled. When it unfurled its huge, bat-like wings, Nu saw it was some kind of demon. Shaped like a human it was, with a muscular body with indigo skin, yet it lacked a head; there was only a pair of lips sprouting from between the shoulders. A giant eye, settled upon its belly, opened, it's iris like a pitted garnet.
"What a freak," insulted Senshi, readying herself for combat.428Please respect copyright.PENANAi716WdeA8n
"Um ..." began Carlos, "maybe you shouldn't provoke it? Just maybe?"
The freak opened its maw and began to laugh a terrible laugh. It raised its clawed hands and leaped towards the spitfire.
Vandal fired a shot as it flew and hit one of its wings, tearing a hole through it, sending black blood to spatter on the walls. The force from the bullet made it whirl and it practically stumbled at Senshi's feet. It hissed at the faery. Senshi buried her blades into the demon's back in response. It's death screech rattled the apartment.
"Not so tough, are you?" commented Senshi.
Nuallis looked down onto the floor below. Moryuu, Jayden, and the guy with the yellow shirt had troubles of their own.428Please respect copyright.PENANACGhJRlI6Yj
"You dare challenge a god?" Moryuu questioned their attacker, trails of lightning sprinting about his tonfas.
The fiend before them was like an alligator, rather its skin was. It stood on two legs and had a long tail that dragged heavily behind it. It had orange lizard-like eyes reeked of rotting fish. In its hand was a metal trident, rusty and crooked. On its prongs, a lurid green liquid dripped. It licked its lips with a long pink tongue and grinned at Moryuu, unafraid of his words.
"You dare challenge a god?" it mimicked, its voice raspy and unpleasant to the ear. 428Please respect copyright.PENANA5jsZajvpXF
Whether the sea creature was clever or this was like some sort of parrot, Nuallis did not know. The beast shot his tongue to wrap around one of Moryuu's tonfas. Moryuu seemed to humor it, letting the monster reel him in like a hooked fish. When its prey was close enough it readied itself to impale the lighting god. "Fool," was all Nu heard him say before he lit up, energy flowing to his tonfas and frying the tongue and its possessor. Stunned, Moryuu delivered a hard blow to its fishy face. Talon bellowed some kind of cheer at his companion's victory.428Please respect copyright.PENANAgABvaZ99z9
"Please step this way, ladies and gents," said Talon opening two portals: one on his floor and the other above.
Nu was the first to go through.
"May I help you?" he asked reaching a hand out.
"Oh!" Nu took his hand, more nonplussed than flattered, "thank you ... uhm ..."
"Talon," he said politely.
"Thank you, Talon."428Please respect copyright.PENANAuAht9otdrb
She walked ahead and Senshi came after. She scoffed at Talon's strange pleasantries, but Carlos shook hands with and thanked him gracefully.428Please respect copyright.PENANAEJ32JsAYlA
When everyone was on the same floor, they headed out into the hallway. Nu got a little too close to Moryuu, and the whispers in her head started up again. What? What's going on? The voices died down, but she felt her heart quicken and her hairs bristle. Moryuu noticed her behavior. He kept his distance from her, holding his clothes together. 428Please respect copyright.PENANAYJbB8AS4TI
"Shy now, are you?" Talon quipped, "I don't blame you."428Please respect copyright.PENANA5MIQ8Tl621
"What was that all about?" asked Van.
"I don't really know." This was only half a lie.
Father's Eye ... Eye of Aion, the voices had uttered, take it from him ... that creature has no business with it.
