We followed the group as suggested by Vandal which is convenient for me, I can gain the trust of Magpie and Nu in one fell swoop.
I calm my mind, preventing any memories of Navi or my past to intervene in what I have to do.
We stop behind one building to watch something unexpected, Magpie and Shadow fighting Gideon and Caecius.
Vandal attempts to join the battle but I hold a hand to stop him.
“What are you doing, we have to help her.”
“Just watch, they seem to be able to handle it.”
Vandal relents and as I expected, Magpie and Shadow won the battle. Very impressive...
“This is a great turn of events, if they kill those two I won’t have to deal it down the line.”
“But I thought Shadow was on their side.”
“That’s why it’s a great turn of events.”
Still, maybe I shouldn’t wish death upon those two just yet since they could be useful and their deaths might speed up the shift anyway.
We continue to look on and it seems like Shadow used some sort of sleep spell since the duo soon hit the floor, falling into a deep slumber.
After some talking and perhaps arguing that we can’t hear, she grabs the unconscious Nu and begins to walk towards us while making sure Gideon and Caecius stay asleep.
I starting to think that, she should’ve killed them. Regardless, I kick a rock out to signal our location and she easily caught the sign. She rounds the corner to meet us.
Vandal: “Nu!”
Magpie gives Nu to Vandal and he inspects her wounds.
Magpie: “So, who are you?”
Moryuu: “I’m Moryuu, a friend, and why is Shadow here willing to help all of a sudden.”
Magpie: “Well-”
Shadow: “I’m just interested in protected her, isn’t that right sweetheart.”
Moryuu: “Riiiight….”
I don’t trust him but if he’s only interested in protecting Magpie, maybe I don’t have to kill him. I hope Magpie will understand if I have to put him down.
Moryuu: “How’s Nu?”
Vandal: “She’s mostly fine, she’s exhausted and has a bloody nose but overall….she’s fine.”
Vandal caresses Nu’s cheek, quite the loving act considering our situation.
Moryuu: “Okay, I think you should have killed those two but-”
Shadow: “Agreed.”
Moryuu: “….We should find the last two party members before Gideon and Caecius spring a trap or something. I have an idea of where to go, so follow me.
Vandal bridal carries Nu, Magpie and Shadow follow close behind. I don’t know if she trusts me fully yet but I’ll take this arrangement for now.
I also notice Gideon and Caecius following further behind as well, I guess it wasn't a deep sleep after all.
I don’t want to risk them following us to where Jayden is and causing more damage.
I can take Gideon no problem but Caecius could be an issue, I might need Shadow to keep his wind at bay so I can stab him with the anti-magic dagger.
But can I trust him….
Moryuu: “Hey Shadow.”
Shadow: “What is it?”
Moryuu: "I sense those two following us, I guess your sleep spell didn't stick.
Shadow glared at my comment while everyone else stays silent, I guess they noticed it as well.
Moryuu: “If you really want to protect Magpie, then I think we should keep Gideon and Caecius at bay while she escapes with Vandal.”
Magpie: “What are you-”
Shadow: “I do see your point, what do you think sweetheart?”
Magpie: “….”
Magpie: “Don’t kill them, you followed what I said before so do it this time too.”
Shadow: “….As you wish.”
I give Magpie and Vandal the directions to where I last saw Senshi and Jayden. After that, Shadow and I stop to face the approaching duo.
I’ll have to be careful of Shadow, he might not kill them but he could kill me. But the same can be said of me, regardless of what’s about to happen someone is going to die tonight.
As if to signal the start to this decisive battle, the sky roars with the sound of godly thunder.
