Carefully Magpie dug out the plant from the ashes and put it into her leather pouch at her belt along with the Jayden doll. She was alone, what didn't scare her but confused about the world around her. Since taking the plant into her hands, she began to hear a faint humming sound and feel a different sort of magic around her. If good or evil, it was hard to tell, and it makes, her uneasy. Luckily I have enough weapons with me, the sword and three hidden blades at my corset since the one at my boot is- Magpie blinked surprised as she saw her favourite dagger and sheath strapped at her left boot. How did it get here? I thought I gave it to Vandal! A shiver ran down her spine. Was it all an illusion? Shadow was real enough. She shuddered to the thought while giving a short glance to her wounded shoulder. Now recalling, Shenshi and Nu did act oddly. Does the doll have to do with it? Magpie began to wonder if she can scry, but sadly, she doesn't know the spell nor the ritual. Knowing too well, a doll is not required to scrying, but a personal object and she has none.
Suddenly the ground and walls around her began to shake tremendously that she fell to her knees and heard a loud rumble not too far away. Debris from the ceiling rained on her. I need to get out quickly! Not matter if this is a trap or not! Quickly Magpie got to her feet and ran to the door. More dust came pouring down that she began to cough, she pulled over her hood and held up a part of it over her nose and mouth. As Magpie reached the door, it was locked.588Please respect copyright.PENANA9icS9edpuR
Further cracks emit around the door frame as the rumble grew louder. Quick-witted Magpie took a step back and kicked the door, it moved a few centimetres, opening a mere cleft of light. Again Magpie kicked the door, and it opened large enough for her to squeeze past. Just as she wanted to pass a massive piece of the ceiling collapsed right above her. There was no time to leap, so Magpie jumped back and held up her arms to protect. More dust clouded her way out, but she still saw daylight past the door and strange violet light from above. She looked up and gasped surprised. Her arms were glowing faintly in violet colour and on top of them shone two round shields with strange symbols. The ceiling began to crack, nearly falling into pieces. Without thinking, Magpie held up her arms to protect as she sprinted for the open door.
She heard behind a vast mass of rock collapsing and stopped running. Magpie turned around to see. The door was filled with rubble and dust. She let out a relieved sigh, and her eyes fell upon her arms. They still glowed faintly in violet and at her leather cuffs floated a large round shield. It was invisible like glass, and the symbols glowed, some of them even shifted withing the shield as if they were alive. Soon the shields faded away; Magpie scrutinised her arms. Where did they come from? She felt its source coming directly from her; it was her magic. Ignatius did mention and asked her a few times if she were interested in learning magic and becoming a caster like him. Magpie had mixed feelings to the realisation. If they came out of my own will to protect, then they will come useful, but if they came from Shadow- She clenched her teeth in anger. Then I will make sure that it is not necromancy! Kill only the Umbras, protect my friends and save Ignatius!
Suddenly the Jayden doll began to glow brightly for a short moment. Magpie blinked amazed of the reaction. What was that all about? A warning? No matter, I better get moving before this place falls apart. Magpie dusted off her hood and sprinted towards the nearest exit. Not very long, she began to sense an evil presence, one she encountered before. "You can run, but you can't hide, Animae." Hissed Cordis nearby. Magpie halted and looked around to see where he is. Her eyes soon spotted him walking down a large hallway with a large scythe at hand. His yellow eyes burned with mad rage. Magpie hid deep in the shadow and wait for him to walk out of sight.
Suddenly the doll at her belt began to glow brightly as before and pointed with its head to a direction away from Cordis. Damn! Out of all times! Cursed Magpie and tried to hide it behind her. As her gaze met Cordis' it was too late. Fuck!
"Well, well, well, isn't it the one who shocked me?"
Magpie remained silent and slowly pulled out her sword, her eyes fixed at his. "How shocking." She dared to tease with a smirk. Watch it Magpie, he may be a talker but don't let him distract you or take it too easy. He knows your power, but he doesn't know your sword skills.
The doll at her belt kept pointing with its head to a direction right side ahead down a dark hall. Magpie dearly wants to outrun Cordis and follow the doll's directions, but the hallway is too open, too far and above all too risky. She clung tighter to her sword. Let's see what you got. Cordis smiled at her devilishly. "You have a sense of humour; not many people have that nowadays." Suddenly a scythe slashed into the stone floor right beside Magpie, cutting it as if it were butter. As she looked up to face Cordis, he charged straight at her. Quick-witted she managed to lift her sword and cut Cordis at the arm. Before he had the chance to grab the scythe Magpie stood in front of it and thrust with her blade from above at him. Cordis clasped the sword between his hands to parry. "And courage too." He sniggered.
Her left shoulder very soon began to burn what Shadow did to her. She can't go on long, and Cordis' snigger isn't a reassuring sign.
