Jayden: “No problem, it’s mine.
???: “Hahaha, so what? I’ll just quickly kill the battery.”
Tendrils shoot towards me despite them getting burned by the light.
I knocked them away towards Jayden who cut them apart with shadow tendrils.
Jayden: “Show us your real face, I’m tired of looking at Gideon.”
Moryuu: “Agreed.”
???: “The sight of me would turn your minds into mush, I rather savor my meal. But…a more unique avatar should be good enough.”
The tendrils retreated further into the abyss and then we heard a disgusting cacophony of sloshing sounds. Wiggling and pulsating masses of rotten meat begin spilling out of the darkness.
???: “Look around and despair.”
We look around the area to find eyes of made flesh surrounding us.
???: “Is this peek into my form enough for you?”
Jayden: “…I do feel nausea but…so what!”
Jayden uses the shadows produced by my light to cut apart all the tendrils that get too close.
More tendrils shoot out from the abyss but before they could reach me Jayden cut them.
Moryuu: “We can’t keep this up forever.”
Jayden: “I know just let me-”
A tendril blasts out of the darkness and pierces Jayden’s knee, causing him to kneel.
I rush over despite my energy problems and brighten the light which causes the tendrils to retreat for a while.
Moryuu: “You’re too far out, keep closer to the light.”
Jayden: “Listen, we need to make a hole to the outside and let in light but I don’t know exactly where we are. Light up the place more so I can get a better shot.”
I could but I need the last two charges for Dark Weaver. It’s time to go back to basics.
Moryuu: “We’ll have one moment to see what the area looks at.”
Jayden: “What do yo-”
I take out an explosive, one of the 3 I have, and throw it into the air and along with a dagger to detonate it.
*BOOOM*
In a flash of fire, the entire area was lit up and I looked around trying to avoid…it…and I see a close part of the ceiling. Now with the creature fleeing the light, we have time to plan.
Moryuu: “Jayden no-”
I look towards Jayden who was shivering, he must have saw it. I also notice that his shadow tendrils disappeared as well.
Jayden: “What…the hell did I just see?”
Moryuu: “Ignore it, you have your shot when it comes back.”
Jayden: “R-Right, I’m going to frying that thing.”
I lowered the light I was putting out but enough to cover us and enough for Jayden’s shadow tendrils to reappear.
???: “A single flash, you just bought yourself a moment of peace. Was it worth it!”
We hear wet squelching sounds coming from behind fast and soon after tendrils shot out of the darkness but Jayden quickly cut them with shadow spears before they could get too close. I need to throw out another bomb.

Jayden cuts all approaching tendrils, through the cuts and blood, he pushed through it all while we edge closer to the breakpoint.

Jayden doesn’t answer but I can tell from the tightening grip of his scythe, he has some reservations.

Moryuu: “Not so fast!”
I blast towards the creature and grab some tendrils to keep at least some of the creature in the light. But…it’s too heavy.
Before my hands slip multiple shadow tendrils come from behind and tie down the fleshy tentacle I’m holding.
Despite the possible strain, Jayden continues to destroy the wall and ceiling behind me causing even more light to flood the area.
???: “LET ME GO!!!”
More tendrils speed towards me but I turn up the lighting which burns them to ashes but also weakens the shadow tendrils.

Light floods the entire area including the full creature. I close my eyes so I don’t go insane. One instant is one thing, but prolonged gazes will get me killed.
The weight returns but the creature is weaker, I can do this!

I hold on for as long as can but it just…won’t die.
Jayden: “Hold on!”
Jayden grabs hold of the tentacle and together we hold the thing in place with the last of our strength.
After what seems like an eternity of screaming and writhing flesh splashing in the tar, it was over.
Jayden: “You can open your eyes, it’s…dead.”
I open my eyes and all that’s left is burn marks where the tar should be.

I follow Jayden’s finger and see that spirit we saw before. It smiles at us warmly and slowly disappears from this. I assume it’s the same for the rest.

Moryuu: “Yeah, the God lost a lot of energy. Even the sky looks less red.”
Despite that good news, we feel a low rumble beneath the earth. I guess it still wants to wake up even with the loss of that much energy.
Talon: “Guys!”
A portal opens on the outside of the tower where the rest of the group arrives.
Vandel: “I assume you guys succeeded?”

I blast multiple lighting bolts that collide with her energy. I speed through the exploding energy and strike her in the face but she barely flinches.
