Sylvie sits on a hard, but cold, wooden chair in a waiting room, shaking with fear. "Sylvie!" Calls out a woman around the same age as her, human who comes running into the police station, she's in.
"Crystal!" Sylvie cries, running into her best friend's arms and breaking down, arms wrapped around her neck, strongly. "R-Ranger was c-cheating on me so I-I kicked him out and Nicole woke up as she heard o-our fight so I let him take her back to bed and next thing I knew was the sound of footsteps on the roof so I headed outside to see him placing Nicole into his car and he drove off with her!"
"Oh my god, Sylvie that's awful! I'm so, so, so sorry! I promise you the police will handle it, they'll find her for you so she's back in your arms, safe."
"And how do you know that is what will happen?!"
"I can't make promises, but CTV footage, checkpoints, other police stations. You can't hide a kidnapping for long, he won't get away with this!"
"Thank you for coming out here at the drop of the hat, I know it's late and all and-"
"Don't worry about it, I'm your best friend and what are friends for, hmmm? And I have an emergency babysitter with my children as my husband is out..."
"I should have married a Human like my parents wanted... But they were so conservative, closed minded then so I rebelled, Crystal..."
"I don't know... It might not have all been for nothing. At-least, you got experi-"
"Next!" Calls out an officer who has come to the reception window, interrupting their conversation . "Come, Sylvie, let's talk to them!" Crystal says, dragging her friend over to the window. "What seems to be the problem, miss?" The officer questions as Sylvie breathes in and out desperately. "Shh, slow your breathing. Explain to him slowly what happened." Crystal whispers as she rubbing her friends back for reassurance, urging her.
"M-my Husband fled with our daughter! You need to find her!" Sylvie panics. "He was cheating on me so we're likely going divorce now and-"
"Do you have a photo?" The officer questions. "Yes!" Sylvie responds, sliding a photo across the surface of her, Ranger and Nicole together from her wallet. The officer holds it up to his sight and then lowers it, giving it back. "I'm sorry, but this is a dual matter. We can't help you, we're a human police station. Laws are changing, they have rights now. Meifwa's too. I'd say the same thing if your Hubby was a Meifwa."
"My daughter's a pure Human!"
"I'd advise you to hire a lawyer who specialists in dual Wolf-Human matters to approach Wolf social services division on your behalf, Ms Sylvie. You will need to be represented." The officer responds before turning away.
"Hey! Don't you dare just walk away from us, you bastard!" Crystal yells after the officer who ignores, walking back over to his desk and pulls out a doughnut from a box while Sylvie cries into her shoulder.

Ranger passes fewer and fewer road sign posts as the night grows darker and darker. "Daddy?" Nicole whimpers, waking up and rubbing her eyes. She's shaking from the cold, only wearing a nightie and a thin blanket wrapped around her shoulders. "Yes, baby?" He responds, placing a hand on the back of her head to comfort her while he keeps the other on the wheel of the car, his eyes on the road still.
"Where are we? Where are we going? Where's mummy?"
"Mummy's busy. We're going... On a holiday! It's going to be so much fun, you'll love it!"
"I can hear the ocean!" She says excitedly, hearing it as it's too dark to see it.
"Yes, we're passing the beach..."
"Can we stop and play in the sand and waves? Can we, can we?!" Nicole asks excitedly. "No, sorry, baby. Maybe in a few months from now... Listen I'm going to pull over at the next gas station, were going to pick up some friends. I just spoke to her on the phone... She has... A boy around your age or so with her. You can play with him."
"Ooh, a friend!"
"Yes! So be on your best behavior, alright?"
"I'll be good, daddy!"
"Haha, good girl."
And then Ranger pulls the car into a gas station, a figure the size of an adult and a 2nd that's only a child standing infront of it, holding a backpack each, but the woman has a brief-case as well. "Hop in." Ranger says, winding down the window. The adult figure climbs into the front seat so Nicole crawls over to the backseat, tumbling slightly. The child laughs slightly at her. "Nicole, do your seat belt up, okay?" Ranger tells her from the front as he starts the car again.
"The adult next to him, slips off her hoodie as she's rugged up because it's cold out, revealing wolf ears and so does the smaller figure next to Nicole which reveals a boy slightly older than her with raven hair and wolf ears too, sticking out the top of his head like her dad's and the mysterious woman's. Nicole cranes her head, checking out the person next to her dad.
She has dark cherry red, dyed. wavy hair.
"Nicole, the car is telling me you're not wearing a seat belt." Ranger lectures from the front. "I don't know how!" Nicole whimpers, starting to cry.
"Neo, help her out would you?" Demands the lady from the front. "Sure, Mom. Here!" He says gently, helping Nicole to do up her seatbelt. He is about 1 year older than her. She lets out a giggle, his hands tickling her slightly. "Oh, that tickled, hmm?" Neo grins, tickling her further.
Nicole laughs and cries out, "Stop!"
"Neo, knock it off." The woman scolds as she tries to have a conversation with Ranger. "Sorry, baby..." She whispers, pawing Ranger all over his arm because she can't get enough of him, but then stops and holds a brief case with a heavy duty lock and a set of handcuffs on it, close toher chest.
"Hey, I'm Neo." Neo smiles, extending a hand.
"Nicole!" Nicole squeals, her face lighting up and she shakes his hand. After a few more hours of driving, Ranger hides the car deep in some shrubbery and he and the woman tell Neo and Nicole to stay put and be quiet before they leave the car to go into an abandoned warehouse as they have 'business' to attend too.
"It's dark!" Nicole sobs. "I know, I know. Don't worry, they'll come back soon." Neo tells her, giving her a squeeze as the car keys are with Zack when they see a flash of green, red and purple light through some windows up-high and the sky-light, then hear bullet sounds.
"Fuc-"
"Fudge cakes!" Nicole interjects so Neo doesn't swear. "Get down!" He whispers, undoing his and Nicole's seatbelt and they bend down as low as they can go, seeing two unfamiliar men walk past the car, unaware that it's nearby, one of them holding a briefcase.
"Did we make the right choice, Oliver?"
"We did, Theodore. We can't afford to second-guess ourselves. If we didn't trap them, they would have killed others."
"You're right. Come on, let's get back to our cars so we can go home and then depart our separate ways."
"Of course, no doubt there a billion missed calls waiting for us from our wives."
"As true as that may be, we won't know about it till we get close to town and our phones pick up signal again."
"Oh, yeah. Maybe we could use the time we don't have signal to stop for a quick bite to eat?"
"Are you saying...?"
"Midnight Munchies?"
"Oh, you know it! One burger, some french fries, a small milkshake, then we never talk again..."
Soon the two men get into separate cars and take off into the night, but not before placing the brief-case into Theodore's boot. "Daddy?" Nicole whimpers as her and Neo sit up.
"Grab your stuff." Neo orders, taking Ranger's stuff, his and his mum stuff. "It's a-lot to carry, but I'll manage because I'm strong. You concentrate on carrying your bag."
"What, why?" Nicole cries as Neo pulls her out of the car, them loaded down with their bags. It starts pouring rain heavily and the ground starts to turn to mud. "Where are we going? I want my Dad!" Nicole cries. "We can't stay here, there is a small town nearby and people would have seen the lights, heard the bullets and called the police." Neo explains.
"But!"
"But nothing! You won't be able to see your dad again, I'm sorry." Neo scolds as he and Nicole run off into the night amongst trees as they're in a forest, police cars pulling up miles behind them at the warehouse on outskirts. "It's not like I'll be able to ever see my Mum again either." He adds on, a few seconds later. After running a short distance, a train is going passing Neo and Nicole so he throws all their bags into an open carriage and runs and jumps into it swiftly, using his werewolf reflexes with Nicole safely in his arms a moment later as Nicole had dug her heels into the ground.
"That hurt, never grab my wrist again!" She cries. "Well, you kind of stopped running when we needed to leave so pulling you by the arm was my only choice as I had to get us onto this train!" Neo shoots back, sitting down to watch trees and the night sky pass them by.
"Sorry." Nicole whispers, sitting down and leaning next to him. He pulls her close, wrapping his arms around her, his chin on her head. "I'm sorry, but the police were coming. I'll take care of you, I promise. That's a promise."
"Thank you... So where are we headed?"
"I don't know just yet, but anywhere is better than staying put though." Neo shrugs and he gets up, closing the train carriage door before returning back to sit with Nicole who cuddles back up to him. "But don't worry, I'll figure all this out for us."
