As the train pulled to a stop outside the station, I downed my last sip of red wine. It was the expensive kind.
Bill got up from his seat, handed me my purse, and got off the train without saying a word. He was a little upset, just having finished an hour worth of paperwork to close the deal for our new Rhode Island home. The house is a very nice, large mansion on Watch Hill.
Me and my fiance, Bill, had bought the home to escape the city life of St. Louis. Besides, we were getting married in one week. We wanted to get married on the coast, so we found a perfect house, then bought it when we decided to settle down there, and start a family after the wedding.
I followed my fiance off the train and into the elaborate station. The bronze colored columns looked very elegant and expensive, but I could tell they were fake. Bill came from money, so he could afford luxury items, and those bronze columns were definitely not it.
Bill’s father owns a large portion of Standard Oil, and he is the heir to all that money. I’m not a gold digger, but the money is a good bonus to satisfy my expensive taste.
I followed him through the crowd in the station and out a turnstile door to our cab, waiting to take us to our new home.
Me and Bill sat silently in the back of the car, with his hand innocently placed on my thigh, gently rubbing the wispy fabric of my dress. I put my hand on top of his, letting him know I was there. Sometimes he gets so lost in his own thoughts that he forgets other people are with him.
He was usually quiet, even at dinner parties with popular people with money. I couldn’t wait to host lavish dinner parties at our beautiful new house.
The car kept going down the road for half an hour more, when I saw the luxurious houses pop up in the view ahead. I saw ours in the distance, with the tall lighthouse in the dark rocks bordering the salty water.
When we pulled up to the front of the house, Bill quickly turned his head to give me a quick kiss on the cheek, before moving his hand. Then he grabbed his briefcase, and got out of the car. Sometimes he kisses me randomly; he says it's to make sure I remember that he loves me. It’s really sweet. Despite what people think, he can be really romantic when he’s not stressed out. Which isn’t often.
I promptly got out of the car and went to stand next to my fiance, who was quietly standing there looking at the beauty of the house. The house was truly gorgeous, you couldn't help but stare and admire it. The white exterior with the elegant-looking black shutters on the side of the window, with the black door.
I turned my head sideways, looking at the door. Bill looked over his shoulder at me.
“What’s wrong, honey?” he asked. “Do you not like it anymore, because I can back out of the deal?”
I shook my head vigorously. “No, it’s perfect. I love it. Just the door, it needs to be more inviting. We should paint it, maybe blue or yellow?” I told him.
He gave a small nod. “Sounds good,” he replied. He held out his hand for me, and I took it. We walked, hand in hand, up to the front door of our new home.
After he opened the door, the first thing we saw when we got in was a Christmas tree, but it was decorated with beach things. It had sand dollars, shells, and small bottles of sand strung up with warm white lights.
“Holiday House,” Bill said. I turned to look at him. “What did you say?” I asked him.
He cocked his head at me. “Holiday House. That’s what we’re gonna call it,” he said.
A smile crept up on my face. “That’s so cute, I love it!” I said as I leaned in to kiss him. It was a nice, passionate kiss, almost like he needed me. Bill pulled me into his arms and I buried my head in his strong chest.
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” he whispered in my ear. Then he kissed my forehead, right on my hairline.
“Our wedding is gonna be perfect,” I told him. “It’s gonna be so beautiful. And then we can start a family! I can’t wait to raise our children together.”
“I know, everything with you is gonna be an adventure. I’m here for it all, baby,” Bill said, as he gently rested his head on top of mine.
I stared at the beach tree for a few seconds. I love that he came up with a name for our house. It was so random, but at the same time I absolutely loved it.
Bill started to stroke my soft, brown hair. “I love you so much, baby. I can’t wait for next weekend,” he whispered. “Then we can have a baby and raise our child together in this beautiful house, just providing them with nothing but love and support. You’re going to be the best mother ever, Rebekah.”
I looked up at him with teary eyes. “You’re adorable! I can’t wait to have you kids,” I replied, quietly before kissing him again.
“Why wait to have kids? It’s only one week until the wedding, nobody will know if we’re a week early,” Bill whispered.
I stared into his gorgeous blue eyes, instantly knowing what he wanted. I study his face as a flirty smile appears across his lips. He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around him as he carried me up the stairs into the master bedroom, closing the door behind him.
