Joseph walks with Natalia at his side in the nippy air. She wore a cute little pink coat. She also had on a pretty little hat with an array of pink colors, some soft and some strong. She carried in her bare hands a large cup of hot cocoa.
Joseph looked stoic and menacing in his leather jacket. The cold didn’t really bother him, not that it was extremely cold. It was beginning to warm up as it was almost the end of the winter season.
“Momma keeps asking about you and Annabelle.” Natalia blurted out. “What? Why would she ask that?” he said looking down to the little girl. “’Cause, you are happier or at least in a better mood every time you come from her house.” She told him.
“What do you think?” he asked the little girl. She looks to her side. Fluffy Bottoms was in her pocket hanging out of the side. She nods at the bunny as if it were talking to her. She looks at Joseph.
“Fluffy Bottoms says that you’re just avoiding you real feelings.” Natalia says. “What? That’s preposterous.” Joseph said. “You’re human Jas. You still feel for those living around you.” Natalia informed him.
“Princess, where would you get the idea that I’m avoiding my real feelings?” “I didn’t…Fluffy Bottoms did.” She said. “Fluffy Bottoms is not…never mind. Thank him for me when I’m not around for his terrible insight.” Joseph said turning into the park.
Big Lucy sticks her head out of the café and waves. Joseph waves back to her. She grabs Mr. Johnston off the street and drags him back into the warmth of her café.
Joseph finds a bench and lets princess run to the other kids and play in the melting snow. He doesn’t look as someone sits in the bench beside him.
“How was Africa?” he asked watching Natalia closely. “Can never fool you, can we?” Syntyke asked him, “It was fine. I had a good time.” “I’m sure the company was fun too.” “Yes nosy.” “You come here with something to say?” he says finally turning to her.
“How do you know business from visits?” “I’ve learned to tell the two by your demeanor. We’re in a public place instead of in a private place. You’re trying to inform me of something without being sniped.”
“They can still get me.” “True, but not without witnesses that can relate every bit of memory in order to piece together the scene in a 3D kind of visual and find the culprit. You’ve ensured there’s a vantage point.” “You read the assassin hand book?” “I’ve read everything that belongs to the IOSTA.” Joseph said looking around. He knew that they were safe.630Please respect copyright.PENANAAktSsSFXNv
“Well, it’s safe, but I’m sure you’ve already picked up on it. I just wanted to make sure that I don’t die without a couple of witnesses.” “Must be big news.” Joseph said looking at her with Natalia at the corner of his eye.
“Yes. I’ve recently found out in Africa…” “In December.” “Recently. I found out that you’re Patient 0, their survivor of the drug. It turns out that for years after trying to get it to work they finally did, just before the 90’s. There was another person involved in the research against their will. “ Syntyke said.
“Okay. Who would this be?” “I don’t. What I do know is the formula itself was still unstable. Only 20% of the population at the time would survive the inject, that is the population, not the agents. There was much fewer in the agency that could survive.”
“20%? Eighty-percent is dead like that…huh.” “Yeah. So, they began to try and figure out why that was so. It turns out that this mysterious researcher had put a flaw in the formula. The people I asked didn’t know what the flaw was or who had done it but they knew there was a flaw.
In an effort to increase the chances of survivors, currently living people were scrapped as far testing went. They waited until the next gen were born, us. Almost in the IOSTA that were born in the 90’s were chosen for this purpose in particular.
What I found out, was that the issue at hand is in the genes. That means someone in your family is compatible and on back. Any children you have will be compatible and it will remain that way until the end of time.”630Please respect copyright.PENANAOJIbnTH7TV
“Natalia?” “Natalia too. She is the second gen that they handpicked, because of you. They’ve created an army. The only issue is that patient zero is needed to activate the remaining of the formula. You’re loose and they can’t catch you. So, they solution is to begin their research once again and hope that you’re back in custody once again.” “They’re starting over?” “They’re starting over.”
Joseph looks away. His head twitches slightly. He closes his eyes grinding his teeth. He looks at Syntyke.630Please respect copyright.PENANAC74PFsUtjn
“What else?” “I don’t know. There’s something else going on. I can smell it. They wouldn’t say. Paul is scouring the globe for information though. I can’t find out though. Most of my contacts of gone quiet.” “Picked off.” Joseph said coldly.
Syntyke knew that they were dead, but preferred to hope for the better. Joseph’s confirmation only made it real. She nods to herself telling herself there was no need to hold to false hope any longer.
“Joseph, all I know, is that Paul has to be stopped. I can’t stop him, but you can.” She says getting up. “I don’t want to stop him. I want him to leave me alone. He’s the world’s problem. He’s hurt me enough.” Joseph said. “He’ll continue to hurt you. I hope you realize that.” She says, “It’s been good seeing you. I’ll stop on by sooner or later Jas. Bye.”
Joseph looks back at Natalia. He hears a light step then nothing more. She was gone, unnoticed by any soul other than Joseph. He continues to watch Natalia play with all the kids. All his thoughts went to was the fact that it wasn’t an accident that she was chosen…it was on purpose. Natalia was in danger of becoming a weapon. Joseph knew that all he had to do was stay away. So he was determined to keep the IOSTA at bay. As long as he was free, they had nothing.630Please respect copyright.PENANABXYPMu6aNs
